Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. is there a mount conversion kit? or do we need to buy whole new lens for it?

A: The NiSi ATHENA Prime T2.4/1.9 Full-Frame 5-Lens Kit (PL Mount) can work with Nisi Lens PL adapters to attach to other camera mounts. Nisi has adapters for Sony E, Canon RF, DJI DX, and Leica L (Blackmagic 6K and Panasonic cameras). Adapter list: https://bit.ly/47wQafr

Q: 2. Is this a mount exchange, removing the PL mount, or does the PL mount connect to this EF adapter? I think it's a mount exchange

A: Yes, the Dulens EF-Mount for APO Mini 43mm Prime Lens is meant to be swapped out with the existing mount on the lens. You would remove the PL mount on the lens and then mount the Dulens EF-Mount for APO Mini 43mm Prime Lens on the lens.

Q: 3. Will this lens include distortion profiles per XD / extended data?

A: The Canon CN-E 20-50mm T2.4 LF Cinema EOS Zoom Lens (PL Mount) will include a lens data port that can offer advanced lens metadata support and functions such as aberration correction, peripheral illumination correction, and focus guide function.

Q: 4. What kind of horizontal distortion does this lens render on full frame around the top and bottom of the frame? Does it have barrel distortion, bulge distortion, pincushion distortion, or wave/ wiggle distortion? Do lines stay straight horizontally?

A: All extreme wide lenses exhibit some level of barrel, chromatic, and rectilinear distortion. If you wish to avoid these negatives while using wide lenses, do not get too close to your subject and cause barrel distortion or tilt and cause leaning lines. This Canon CN-E 14mm reduces all wide angle distortions to an absolute minimum. This is in keeping with the fact that this lens is meant for the Hollywood market where only the best will do. Final note: Wide and tele lenses have characteristics unique unto themselves. In the beginning of their camera career, people often look at these characteristics as negatives to be overcome. In time, the user knows what to look for and then exploits these characteristics to storytelling advantage.

Q: 5. Is this lens compatible with a Sony FX9?

A: Yes, the Canon CN-E 45-135mm T2.4 LF Cinema EOS Zoom Lens (PL Mount) would work. However you would have to add a PL lens mount adapter. Wooden Camera PL to Sony E Mount Pro Adapter BH #WO233400

Q: 6. Has anyone compared the Sigma Cine Primes vs Canon Cine Primes? Would love to hear if the canon is a better choice or the sigma

A: Both Canon and Sigma Prime lenses will offer fantastic images.

Q: 7. Does this lens support 6k resolution? Can i put a circular ND filter & is there a 114mm circular ND filter?

A: This lens is capable of full 4K-Resolution performance. You can use 105mm screw in filters on all the Canon Cinema Prime Lenses. Here are three suggestions in good-better-best order: Tiffen 105mm Coarse Thread UV Protector Filter B&H # TIUVP105, B+W 105mm UV Haze MRC 010M Filter B&H # BWUVMC105, Sigma 105mm WR UV Filter B&H # SIUV105Q.

Q: 8. would you recommend the cannon cn-e 35mm lens on a Blackmagic URSA Mini 4K EF camera?

A: Yes, I would. Great combination!

Q: 9. which one is better, this lens or Rokinon Xeen 16mm T2.6?

A: The Canon would be considered the overall superior lens. But the Rokinon Xeen lenses are terrific glass for the money that would perform admirably in most projects for most filmmakers.

Q: 10. What is the image circle?

A: Canon does not provide image circle specifications for the Canon CN-E 20-50mm T2.4 LF Cinema EOS Zoom Lens. However, They do say it has 8K Optical Performance and it is designed for Full Frame Cameras.

[72 mm] Incredible lenses that punch way above their weight class! Blown away by the build quality and image quality. The only thing I'd change is adding a longer lens! Like a 110mm or 135

[Yes] Think Canon cinema lenses are hype? Think again. This lens is a game changer. I have the 50mm L series f1.2 and this lens blows it away in sharpness, accuracy of focus and several other areas. Best purchase I've made for a while.

[11] This is a really well constructed lens. It feels like it's worth every penny. The optics are crystal clear, no distortion of any kind that I can detect. The giant focus ring turns and turns - very nice for pulling focus. On the downside, at longer distances with the aperature wide open, the depth of field is razor thin, and the focus ring has increasingly less travel between steps at further distances. I realize this is physics, but I was personally surprised by how touchy focus is at 40-50' in lower light situations.

[Canon EF] This is the best EF Cine wide-angle lens that I have seen to date. And the color rendition matches perfectly with the other Xenon FF Lenses that we use.

[Yes] The build quality is great and it produces a great image.

[Yes] I purchased the 31mm Dulens lens & don't regret it. I enjoy the color rendition of this lens. It's a sharp lens and it has a dare I say Vintage look lol. Its a small & light weight lens and packs a punch. It doesn't Flare as much as I thought it would - to mitigate some flaring just add a
Matte Box when shooting out doors. I also like alternating from Full frame 31mm to Super 35 and get closer to a 50mm look with this lens. It lives on my Lumix s5iiX camera 70% of the time. It pairs well with the FotodioX Pro Lens mount Adapter Arri PL to L mount cameras. Keep in mind the Aperture ring is a little tight to turn but I would say its a good thing when using this lens - you don't want the aperture ring to turning easily when in use. This lens is definitely worth considering when shopping for your next budget Cinema Lens. Cheers!

[T22] Recently got these lenses and have used them for almost two months across various projects, from commercials in New York to a short film in Miami. Here's what stood out:

- Exceptional build quality.
- Impressive brightness with an aperture of 1.9, resulting in beautiful bokeh.
- Consistent weight across the lenses – a real game changer when working with gimbals.
- Comes with a good quality practical carrying case for five essential lenses.
- Top-notch optical performance: no focus breathing noticed, acceptable distortion.

For indie filmmakers, these are a top pick. Highly recommended.

[T2.4] This is an incredible 2x macro lens. Laowa makes incredible lenses and this is no different.

[58mm] Razor sharp but like all 2x macros a fussy lens to use, especially for insects. At times I use the back LCD screen for focusing which helps.
Has click stops for aperture which is nice but not for the magnification ring.
Heavier than I would like, but similarish in size to the Canon RF 100mm macro, a little shorter so it is a good companion to that lens, especially for smaller insects.

[Yes] I bought this on the recommendation of a friend who consults for many of the most well-known lens manufacturers (think of the names you know). While it's not anamorphic, it is a beautiful, well-behaved, full-frame lens, and a welcome addition to the lens locker. Crisp, without being clinical, and having a gorgeous vintage vibe from the lens coatings. I'll echo what others have said regarding the close proximity of the aperture ring to the lens mount, but other than that, I've really enjoyed it, so far.
