The head pans 360° while keeping the horizon straight using the bubble level at the base of the head. It has a swing arm that tilts horizontally, giving you extreme tilt angles and effortless, balanced shots. Both panning axis and floating tilt are locked independently using pan and tilt friction knobs. The head has a 360° panoramic scale that allows easy pan adjustments.

It has an Arca-type camera plate clamp that moves up and down on a scaled slideway and is secured with a control knob. Numbered scales are located on the clamp and the swing arm so that the telephoto lens can have a repeated setup on the gimbal tripod head. Before use, ensure that the head is vertically and horizontally balanced, as the camera must be able to be adjusted at any angle while remaining in position.

The gimbal head has a double dovetail plate with 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 mounting screws fastened by the platform adjustment knob. It mounts directly to tripods with a 3/8"-16 threaded mount.

In addition to that, a conversion adapter for 1/4"-20 mounting is included, making it universally compatible with the tripods.

[Yes] I needed to upgrade the gimbal for my 300 800 Sigmonster. Nylon bushings could not handle the load. After research, my lovely wife bought this for me. This is so solid. The ball bearings spin like in a vacuum. This Katana is so much better bang for the buck than anything I read. Reviews were rave. Now I know why. If you need a sturdy, marvelously milled, smooth as silk gimbal, for your expensive telephoto lens, THIS IS THE GIMBAL FOR YOU. Other names may be better known. NONE ARE BETTER MADE!

[Gimbal Head] I hesitated ordering this gimbal head because of the price. But you usually get what you pay for, and it turns out that this purchase was an outstanding example of that fact. The head is extremely well made with attention to quality in every regard. During a recent shoot, a heavy 300 mm f2.8 lens attached to a Nikon D5 balanced effortlessly. It almost seemed superfluous to lock down the lens, since I was using a wireless remote to trigger the shutter, and the lens and camera seemed as solid as could be. Having struggled with long unbalanced setups on conventional heavy ball heads for the past 30 years, using this gimbal head was a dream. I'll never use my big glass without it from this point on. Highly recommended.
