Q: 4. What is the outside diameter of this ring? Is it 100mm so that I can use a push on lens cap?

A: The outside diameter is around 97mm-98mm. A 100mm lens cap will be loose.

Q: 5. Is some vignetting expected when using this step up ring at wider apertures? Can vignetting be reduced by stopping down?

A: One should not expect vignetting when using the Heliopan 49-62mm Step-Up Ring (#175). The 62mm filter will be significantly wider than the 49mm lens threading and should not get into the image at all.

Q: 6. Will this step up ring work with a Leica Noctilux 50mm 0.95 lens?

A: The Heliopan 60-77mm Step-Up Ring (#644) (B&H# HESUR6077) will fit the 60mm filter thread of the Leica Noctilux-M 50mm f/0.95 ASPH. Lens (Black) (B&H# LE50095NB). As such, you'll be able to add 77mm filters to that lens.

Q: 7. Can this cause vignetting on a Laowa 7.5mm lens?

A: The Heliopan 46-58mm Step-Up Ring will not cause vignetting if attached to the Laowa 7.5 lens, but the "lens hood" must be removed to allow for the connection of the 46-58 step up ring.

Q: 8. Would this ring permit the use of 55mm threaded filters on a lens with a Series VII filter-thread? The Leica R 90mm f2 (old version, not the later version) is the lens I have in mind.

A: The thread on both sides is 1.0 mm or coarse.

[86 mm to 95 mm] Hi - I've bought a couple rings of this brand for particular lenses because I standardize on two filter sizes where practical. And I like them. Although the Heliopan rings cost a bit more, they have 'heft' and quality to them. 5

[0.075 lb] Heliopan rings: first class materials and workmanship. To me it does not make sense to place a $6 or 7 step up ring on a $4000 lens. I've seen budget rings that have threads that don't properly fit or where the male and female threads are very obviously skewed to each other. 5

[Brass] I got this to be able to use my 82mm ND filters and polarizers. I already had a 67 to 82 step up ring. So I got this to be able to use my 21 SEM, 35 Lux M FLE and 50 Lux M lenses with my filters. Works perfectly, solid. 5

[86 mm to 95 mm] When it comes to filter rings nothing beats precision threads coupled with the the heft and durability of solid brass. Aluminum may be lightweight, but its soft threads are prone to overtightening and galling and tend to seize when rapidly moving between warm and cold environments (as an added precaution against seizing/galling I paint my threads with a light coat of silicone lubricant) 5

[Brass] High quality adapter. It is light, enable the use of M39 filters as well as the newer m39 light lens hood. Very useful. 5
