Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. is there any design difference between the flat and ball version of this head? (other than the ball of course)

A: It is the same from the base up.

Q: 2. The knob on the bottom to release the head is very difficult to grab and apply sufficient torque. It oftens loosens while tilting. Can i replace the knob with the paddle style knob from a Sachtler FSB8t video head? Are these threadings universal? Thanks.

A: Hello,Unfortunately, these threads aren't universal, but they are a standard M8 thread. I can't say for certain if the Sachtler locking knob will work, but if it uses an M8 thread there is a good chance it will. Also, make sure your load doesn't exceed the 11 lb. recommended limit for the GH03, and that the center of balance for the load is over the center of the head. No matter how tightly you lock it down, an overburdened or unbalanced head will shift in the bowl much easier than one that isn't.

Q: 3. Will this video head receive a stand Manfrotto plate such as Manfrotto 501PL?

A: Unfortunately it will not. This head is not compatible with 501PL style plates.

Q: 4. Is the handle included? Can you remove the handle?

A: Yes it comes with a handle. Yes the handle can be removed if necessary.

Q: 5. Is the head Arca-swiss compatible?

A: I'm afraid not. The GH03 head uses the GP1 Camera Plate.

Q: 6. What is the weight of this head?

A: This head weighs 4.5 lbs.

Q: 7. What is the height of this head from base to plate?

A: Erik, the GH03 Head is approximately 5.25 from the base to the top of the baseplate.

Q: 8. Is it compatible with Manfrotto 501 base plates?

A: No, this head is not compatible with the Manfrotto 501 plate mechanism.

Q: 9. Can this head be used with the Feisol Tournament CT-3442 Tripod or the Gitzo Lightweight Traveler Series ?

A: The Feisol CT-3442 and the Gitzo Traveler tripods do not take bowl-based fluid heads. You'll need to get a flat-based fluid head.

Q: 10. Can you use Arca swiss plates?? really right stuff foot plates and Kirk plates ?

A: The E-Image GH10L 100mm Pro Fluid Video Head takes only an E-Image GP1 Quick Release Plate (SKU: EIGP1) https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1046984-REG/e_image_gp1_camera_plate_for_gh03_06_08_10.html/qa An Arca swiss-style plate could be used with an adapter such as a Really Right Stuff B2-LLR-II Lever-Release Clamp (80mm) (SKU: RERELESECLMP) https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1301154-REG/really_right_stuff_b2_llr_ii_quick_release_c_lever_release_style_quick_release_clamp.html

[Quick Release] This is one of the smoothest tripod fluid heads I have used for mid size rigs. Much nicer than the equivalent Mangroto (which is also a great product. ). I purchased this to with my C100.

[Yes] I don't understand some of the reviews. This S6 fluid head is great! Maybe it was upgraded since it came out..? I'm not sure but I love it. The panning is smooth even though you can only adjust by tightening a screw. Either way this is great!

[+60° to -90°] I've had great success using this head with my Canon 6D on both monopods and tripods. Very smooth tilt and pan. Great value.

[Yes] This is a budget, lightweight video head. No, it's not as awesome as a Sachtler or Vinten Vision -- but it's not priced like them. I have two of these, AND several Sachtler & Vinten heads. I use the S4 for stuff like the end of a small jib and on a slider, or for lightweight use when light load is paramount. The pan is smooth as is the tilt. Both lock off. The tilt has some drag control, but not much. Pan is off or on. The QR plate does interchange w/ the Manfrotto of similar size. Though the QR mechanism on the head is secure, it's not as solid as the Manfrotto or as smooth since the S4 has a plastic part instead of metal as on Manfrotto (see the blue button on the left of the S4? That's plastic -- no harm, but it's just not as precise). That is the safety release, not the lock knob; so when it's locked, it's plenty solid. The handle can be removed which is something not all the Manfrottos can do -- an important detail for use on sliders.

[Yes] This head is much better than the manfrotto equivalent. I watched a youtube video comparison and it made me purchase my first Benro product. This head can hold a lot of weight and the locks are strong. The counter balance works very well. Pans and tilts are smooth. Very solid construction.
