Following in its critically acclaimed predecessors footsteps, the DA-3000SD is a vital master recorder and professional-grade monitoring device in a single, portable, 1 RU rack mountable unit. Bouncing a recording in a DAW alone cannot capture the quality afforded by the DA-3000SD as a master recorder. When used as an AD/DA conversion unit in a DAW production environment, noise-free superior monitoring is second to none as the clarity and depth of audio is enhanced and allowed to shine.

For recording, the DA-3000SD supports audio capture up to 192 kHz for PCM formats as well as 2.8 and 5.6 MHz for DSD, the highest quality recording format commercially available. Based on project needs, users can select which recording method best matches the music’s characteristics and save the settings.

Multiple units can be synchronized via S/PDIF cascade for sample-accurate recording and playback, allowing for the creation of a DSD multitrack recording environment. Recording directly to SD card media makes transportation and storage of sessions simple and easy-to-handle.

An EI core transformer with separate windings for the digital and analog circuits is used in the power supply section, while the output audio circuit has a dual monaural configuration with two high-quality mono circuits to achieve an exceptional sonic profile. Additionally, all stages of the audio circuits have a balanced configuration to reduce noise on both input and output paths. Equipped with a TCXO (temperature-compensated crystal oscillator), the DA-3000SD's clock generator boasts an accuracy of ±1ppm for digital audio processing with no jitter.

The output circuitry uses a dual-monaural configuration that eliminates interference between the left and right channels, maximizing the performance of the DA-3000SD to achieve unrivaled sound quality. The D/A conversion is handled by the renowned BurrBrown PCM1795 converters, one for each channel.

Other components include low-impedance capacitors and low-noise, high-precision resistors. Lacking a fan, the DA-3000SD achieves its high functionality in a comfortable monitoring environment without the distraction of unwanted noise.

The unit is equipped with a diverse selection of input and output terminals for connection to a variety of studio equipment such as audio interfaces, microphone preamplifiers, dynamic processors, and more.

  • Balanced XLR 3-pin inputs and outputs (one stereo pair in, one stereo pair out)
  • Unbalanced RCA coaxial I/O
  • AES/EBU digital I/O over XLR 3-pin
  • Stereo S/PDIF-3 BNC inputs and outputs (for multitrack DSD connections)
  • S/PDIF over 3.5mm with optional cascade function for recording two mono files
  • Word sync BNC input and thru/output connections, with selectable thru or out configurations
  • 1/4" TRS headphone output on front panel for clean, latency-free monitoring
  • SD card slot for recording
  • USB-A ports for remote control and playback/copying functions

By sending stereo master from a DAW and recording them with the DA-3000SD, you can capture the master sound source at a higher resolution than possible with a DAW bounce alone. To insert vintage or other outboard equipment during the mastering process, place the DA-3000SD in the signal chain after the external hardware to capture the audio coloration in all its full, high-definition beauty.

Both recording and playback synchronization is possible by cascading multiple units, enabling a DSD multitrack environment. By connecting eight DA-3000SD's, users can record up to 16 tracks at a time.

  • Mark function
  • Panel Lock function
  • Dedicated USB keyboard terminal for folder/file name input and external control
  • Oscillator function
  • Output volume control
  • Supports wireless remote control (included)
  • 1 RU rack mountable

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will it work with Pentax K-5 and 150-450mm 4.5-5.6 lens?

A: Yes, its compatible but you will probably lose autofocus on the long end.

Q: 2. can RME ADI 2 DAC be powerful enough to drive Audeze lcd 3?

A: No it is not. The built-in headphone amplifier provides low THD values even with 32- or 16-Ohm headphones,

Q: 3. does this work with HD Pentax-DA 55-300mm f/4-5.8 ED WR Lens?

A: Yes! I've shot some tack-sharp daylight wild animal photos with the Pentax DA 55-300mm/1.4x Rear Converter combo. Note: Since you'll lose an f/stop with the teleconverter, the combo will work best for outdoor tele-zoom photography in favorable lighting conditions.

Q: 4. I would use this for the dac for a cd player , Can I also input a amplifier for using the headphone portion as well ?

A: The RME ADI-2 DAC FS Ultra-Fidelity PCM/DSD 768 kHz DA Converter accepts digital input connections for converting to analog outputs. A CD player with digital outputs could potentially be connected in this manner.

Q: 5. Does the Pentax 1.4x HD Converter work with the K-1 Camera? If so, does it work using FA (full-frame) lenses under the camera's full-frame mode?

A: Yes, the Pentax 1.4x HD PENTAX-DA AF Rear Converter AW for K-Mount Lenses will work with the K-1 camera, and with Pentax FA "full frame " lenses. It is important to connect the converter to the lens first, then attach the lens to the camera .

Q: 6. Is this RME ADI2 DAC the updated version that comes with the AK4493 AKM decoder?

A: Yes. This comes with the most recent AK4493 upgrade.

Q: 7. Will this lens work on a Pentax 55-300 lens? Thanks. Steve

A: You may or may not be happy with the results. Bear in mind that teleconverters are designed to work properly with prime (fixed) fast lenses...f4 or faster. On zooms, even on fast zooms like 70-200f2.8, the results will not be that great. 55-300mm.... Probably not worth spending $$500 for a TC since the performance and quality will be marginal. I don't like it in my 70-200 f4 or f2.8

Q: 8. Can I use it to acquire SPDIF signal with my computer?

A: No. SPDIF is a digital audio signal, therefore would not be a signal that a computer would recognize. Coumputers can process analog audio in and out, OR digital audio through USB.

Q: 9. Does the CD player connect to the Analog Inputs in the back panel? What type of cable connectors should be used? RCA?

A: The best way to connect a consumer CD player to this unit would be to utilize either the S/PDIF Coaxial or S/PDIF Optical digital inputs. The analog inputs are balanced 1/4-inch TRS or XLR, and usually connect to professional audio gear, such as a mixing board or a CD player, such as the Tascam CD-500B Single-Rackspace CD Player (Balanced), BH #TACD500B.

Q: 10. I own a Pentax K20D dSLR. How is this Pentax 1.4x teleconverter better than the Tamron 1.4x teleconverter I already own for this (older) camera?

A: I don't know anything about the Tamron 1.4x, but I too had an earlier 1.4x for which I paid $99. I forget the brand off the top of my head. In comparison, the Pentax is vastly superior (with my K-3; I'm not sure about how well it will work with a K20D). The picture quality is superb (while the cheaper device produced images that were no better than what Photoshop could do in post-processing). The in-lens auto-focus is supported in both my Pentax 300 and Sigma 150-500 and it works well and quickly with both. It does not work so well with my Sigma 18-250 lens (tends to overshoot and flip back and forth while trying to focus -- this can be overcome by using Live View). Also, with the Pentax lens, but not the Sigmas, the presence of the teleconverter is detected and included in the metadata, so, for example, the 300mm lens is shown as shooting at 420mm.

[2] This is an absolutely amazing sound creation device that can be used as a standalone part of a stereo system or as the ADC/DAC unit of a PC/laptop/tablet based audio system. And also as a wired receiver for portable devices. The sound quality is excellent! The build quality is amazing. Numerous features that can be used either with direct menu buttons or (better) with the RME app for Win/Mac/iPad. Individual parametric equalization of headphones or room configurations with saveable presets is a very useful feature. But there are many more features that you can check out and customize to suit your individual needs. The ability to save settings by profile is very valuable. The only cons I found is that the LED backlight cannot be controlled by any software or menu options. When the device is installed in the bedroom, the bright red LED ring around the power button in standby mode creates too much irritating lighting. And also a non-switchable internal LED backlight with a warm (lamp) glow through the ventilation holes of the case in operating/idling mode. The manufacturer responded that the current hardware layout of the board does not allow controlling the brightness/on/off of the LEDs. I think this design flaw can be addressed in future developments, either by reworking the board or upgrading the model. At least, make each LED RGB style so the color/hue can be customized, and create options to turn them on/off based on events/schedules via menu/app settings.

[2] One of the top Pentax accessories; a must have option for extending your reach with K-Mount Telephoto lenses. I've seen little if any degrading of sharpness across the zoom range. Colors remain true to the lans character. Autofocus is as good as the lens it is mounted on. At a small cost of one f-stop, this 1.4x Converter more than delivers. I'll never be without one. I have two DA 55-300 WRs, always keeping one mounted with the 1.4x Converter for quick access. I Love this Converter!
