This UltraLITE Pro16 Long-Range Dual-Channel Full-Duplex Wireless Intercom System from Eartec includes thirteen UltraLITE Pro16 Headsets: one single-ear master, six single-ear remotes, and six dual-ear remotes. The set also provides thirteen rechargeable LiPo batteries, two ten-port chargers, and an extra-large soft-side case. It is designed to accommodate thirteen people who need to communicate wirelessly while simultaneously working with their hands. The Pro16 version of the UltraLITE line-up features a long 10-hour battery life and a 1/2-mile line-of-site operating range.

UltraLITE Pro16 all-in-one wireless headsets can link up to 16 users in full duplex without a base station or hub. Designed with a lightning-fast microprocessor that provides two channels of simultaneous hands-free communication, the Pro16 allows separate groups to speak privately. Connect your entire crew in a full-duplex conference with the simple touch of a button. The Pro16 talking pattern is easily modified in the field or expanded to accommodate your changing needs.

The Pro16 has been engineered with Active Frequency Hopping technology. This specialty wireless technique allows the headsets to monitor the surrounding environment and automatically switch channels whenever necessary to easily avoid interference. The operating range has been increased three-fold to over a 1/2 mile line of sight.

The UltraLITE headsets have the transceiver built right inside the earcup, eliminating headset wires and belt-worn radios. They provide two-way voice communication and the microphone arm can swivel 270°, allowing you to wear the mic on the left or right side. Raising the mic boom into the up position automatically mutes the microphone.

A fortified mic assembly, featuring internal metal construction and stainless attachment hardware is now standard. The new deluxe earpad is extra wide, soft, and weather resistant. New, large-capacity lithium-ion polymer batteries provide an impressive run time of up to 10 hours.

A: The maximum number of headsets that can be used with your system is five -- one master and four remote headsets. So you can add one more remote headset with your system. For a system with six wireless headsets, you would need to use the Eartec HUB Mini Duplex Transceiver Base - USA (B&H # EAHUB). The HUB would replace the master headset in your existing system. It functions as the master controller and can accommodate one wired headset and up to eight wireless UltraLITE headsets. Since you already have three remote headsets, you would need to purchase three additional remote headsets to have a total of six wireless headsets with the HUB (one of the remote headsets is to replace your master headset, plus the two remote headsets you want to add).

Q: 2. Is the system applicable for outdoor use by for example crane operators and similar job functions?

A: The Eartec UL3D UltraLITE 3-Person Headset System is designed for broadcast and stage production applications. We do offer two way radios from Kenwood and Motorola which are more suitable products for crane operators. The challenge will be isolation headsets. Those will need to be custom made.

A: From Eartec: The Comstar XT-8 is a full duplex system for 8 users total. The system has a base station that allows up to 8 total users. The headsets are considered a heavy duty weighing 14-16 oz. The HUB7SMXS is a full duplex system for 8 users. The system has a base station that allows up to 9 users (1) wired headset (8) wireless headsets. The headsets are mis-weight 5-78 oz. Both systems operate on the same frequency however the two systems can’t talk to one another. If you were going to use these systems for industrial purposes or loud environments I would choose Comstar XT-8. If you were using this system for theater, videography or photography I would suggest HUB7SMXS.

A: The master headset included with the Eartec UltraLITE 4-Person Full-Duplex Wireless Intercom can be used with up to 5 remote headsets. In order to accommodate 6 headsets, you will need to purchase the Eartec HUB Mini Duplex Transceiver Base for 1 Plug-In & up to 8 Wireless UltraLITE Headsets (B&H # EAHUB) which would replace the master headset. The HUB can be used with up to 8 wireless remote headsets and 1 wired headset that will connect directly to the HUB to accommodate a total of 9 users. The master headset and HUB both have the same electronics built-in and cannot be used together and the HUB only works with wireless remote headsets and the 1 wired headset. You may want to consider purchasing the Eartec HUB6S UltraLITE 6-Person HUB Intercom System (B&H # EAHUB6S) from the start. The HUB can be powered with a battery and worn like a beltpack. 2 HUBs can be linked to accommodate up to 16 wireless remote headsets and 1 wired headset.

[13] Coming from the broadcast world, doing small to medium events. Really wanted to get away from wires and belt packs. These were the only cost-effective realistic solution. They worked great. We used them day in and day out. The batteries charge fast. The range was good. If you get enough people and enough staging in the way, of course you're going to lose reception over a couple hundred feet and how many walls. But I never felt like they were oversold in terms of range. I love these things, they made our work lives easier and better every day. 5

[ADPCM / 32 b/s] I wasn’t expecting from a system at this price. I usually use a ClearComm system costing $12K. I even asked B&H if the product could be returned if not satisfied. I had 30-days. I received the 5-set Comm System 3-days prior to a 4 Cam shoot in a theater setting. I recorded for 3-days in a very loud environment with all actors and orchestra on wireless com’s. The Eartec. System worked flawlessly. Communication was crystal clear with plenty of volume. Battery life easily covered a Three hour show and set up. Headsets are comfortable. Build is very plastic like so not sure about durability. But I am definitely keeping this set. A great buy so far and at a fraction of the cost of a Telex/Clearcom system. I purchased the single ear configuration. During louder parts of the musical room noise made it difficult to hear. However, an earplug in the left ear solved that issue immediately. I would recommend this product to any production team. 5

[1.152 Mb/s] I replaced some older EarTec's with wired headsets - no wires is much nicer. They eliminate static, but require a minimum level of speech volume to pick up - so you can't whisper too quietly if the event requires it. Otherwise very nice and lightweight, comfortable to wear. 5

[950 mAh] These are great coms on a budget. I had an issue with one of them pairing out of the box. The Eartec customer service number is right on the soft carrying case, they walked me through the programming process in a couple minutes to get all four up and running. I will definitely add another headset and down the road upgrade to the hub when I need it. 5
