Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the difference between the BE-117 and the BE-117T?

A: The T stands for travel. It has a slimmer profile that allows tripods with legs that fold and close in an upward position to close completely and not be blocked by the head.

Q: 2. What is the minimum & maximum dimension of arca-style head opening? My camera's arca-style base is 38mm wide. I want to find out whether I can drop it off or I have to slide it in. Thank you.

A: the range is about 36-38.5mm. I have one plate that drops in and one that needs an ever so slight tilt.

Q: 3. Hi, I've owned a BE-126 Head for a few years and overall I'm very happy with it, however from time to time it will come loose on the base if I rotate it slightly anti clockwise, and it isn't safe. I've tried to tighten it as much as I possibly can, however it still manages to come loose shortly afterwards! Did I fail to attach it properly to the legs, or are all the Oben Heads like this?(I have it attached to a Oben Tripod, AC 2361)

A: You may want to try a dab of Loctite 242 removable blue.

Q: 4. is it compatible with the manfrotto befree tripod?

A: Yes, the BE-126 Ball Head is compatible with the Manfrotto BeFree tripod as they both use a standard 3/8” thread.

Q: 5. Can I use the OBEN 1/4 -20 screw with D ring?

A: If you mean the camera fixing screw the answer is yes. I use the screw with D-ring from an Oben VH-R2 on my BE-117 ball head. It's at tight fit but it works. The slot under the BE-117 mounting plate is only 28 mm wide and 7 mm deep .

Q: 6. Will the Oben BE-126 QR clamp accommodate the Kirk collar that I have on an 80-400 Nikon lens? Thanks.

A: As both the Kirk lens collar and the BE-126 Ball Head use the Arca-Swiss type quick release system, the BE-126s QR system will accommodate the Kirk 80-400mm lens collar.

Q: 7. can I install this contraption: a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/554141-REG/Manfrotto_323_323_RC2_System_Quick.html target= _blank http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/554141-REG/Manfrotto_323_323_RC2_System_Quick.html/aon this head since most of my head are manfrotto plated?

A: I think the Manfrotto adapter can be mounted on a QR-20 plate. The QR-20 would screw into the Manfrotto adapter and then mount properly on the ball head. Camers, lens, etc. with the Manfrotto quick release would then mount into the Manfrotto adapter. I think mounting the Manfrotto adapter directly to the head would require the services of a machine shop but it can probably be done.

Q: 8. is this compatible with a platypod?

A: Yes, the Oben BE-117 Ball Head with Arca-Type Quick Release can be mounted on the Platypod Ultra Plate Camera Support and on the Platypod Max Camera Support.

Q: 9. Will the Sunwayfoto Macro Focusing Rail with Screw-Knob Clamp BH #SUMFR150S • MFR #MFR-150S slide on this Oben BE-117?

A: Yes, the Sunwayfoto Macro Focusing rail will slide through the Oben BE-117 as the rail has an arca-style dovetail which the head will receive.

Q: 10. Is this a tension ball head

A: This head does not have a typical friction control, however, you can adjust the main knob to allow for pseudo friction, hence the numbers on the blue dial.

[+90° to -90°] I bought this tripod head to replace one that broke. It's the perfect size. I love the handy control knobs and the ARCA-type release. I have three different ARCA-type plates and they all work great. It's easy to adjust with the knobs in perfect locations and the movement is smooth. I frequently go from handheld to tripod and this product allows me to do that quickly.

[+90° to -90°] Holds a ridiculous setup very stable. See my photo. I would never use a 2X converter plus all 3 macro extensions with my 55-300 fully extended. But it holds with the lock knob turned to 10. (It goes to 12).

[0.86 lb] I am using this ball head on a monopod, and it is working good. Easy to use and make adjustments.
Using it with a 600mm PF Z lens and no problems. Photo taken using a Nikon Z6III and Nisi filter

[0.86 lb] This ball head feels solid and sturdy. I'm not sure if other ball heads are lighter than this one. It feels a bit heavy on my carbon fiber tripod. It is very easy to use and holds my camera wherever I want it to be.

[Ball Head] Great mount for fixing the camera to a tripod in low or no light situations plus the ability to go to a 90 degree shot is great. The mount also allows the perfect 360 degree panoramic shots and the levels on it are handy as well.

[Yes] Very happy with this head, I’ve had many, bigger, larger, different, but this is perfect for my needs. Retired pro with smaller lighter cameras.
Primarily Sony A7RIII and Sony RX10. Don’t need the bigger heavy Arca Swiss anymore. I was surprised for this amount of money that this head is so well built, precise, feels like it would be much more expensive. Ball heads are so easy to use, very quick set up. Made in China can be great quality, like this head. Good purchase for sure.

[1x 1/4"-20 Male] I am absolutely stunned by the high quality of this ball head. Every aspect of this unit reeks of quality. I purchased this small ball head to work with the Platypus Ultra camera plate. I'my happy I chose this ball head over so many others on the market. If you buy it you will not be disappointed.
