A: No, this item come with the needed USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C Cable required to connect to your new 13 inch MacBook Pro M1.

Q: 2. Is this an SSD drive?

A: As far as I can tell, it is not a solid state drive. I don't see this written anywhere, so I assume that it is not SSD.

Q: 3. Can you connect this drive to a Samsung Galaxy Tablet?

A: No. You can connect the LaCie Copilot 2TB drive to a tablet or phone. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1381645-REG/seagate_stgu2000400_2tb_dji_copilot_drive.html

Q: 4. Read & Write Speed?

A: The LaCie 4TB Rugged USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C External Hard Drive BH #LASTFR400080 has a data transfer speed of up to 130MB/s.

Q: 5. I am looking for an External hard drive to back up videos from my iMac M1 (2021) and my iPhone 12 pro max. Will this Rugged USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C External Hard Drive plug directly into my 2021 iMac M1 without buying an adapter? Also what kind of adaptor would I need to plug it into my iPhone 12 for backing up video files from the phone? TIA

A: Yes, the LaCie 5TB Rugged USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C External Hard Drive BH #LASTFR500080 connect to a 2021 M1 iMac with the included cables, no adapter is required. While it is possible to connect the drive to the iPhone, it is not very convenient since it requires multiple adapters and would also need to be connected to power. I would suggest instead transferring the content to your mac and then it will be backed up with the rest of the things you have when you make a backup of your iMac using time machine. Another option is getting more iCloud storage which would just run seamlessly in the background for backups and is far more convenient. If you do want to connect it, you would need these items. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1241761-REG/apple_mk0w2am_a_lightning_to_usb_3_0.html?sts=pi&pim=Y https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1429003-REG/rocstor_y10a207_a1_usb_male_to_usb_c.html?sts=pi&pim=Y The adapter has a lightning power input which you might need to use to connect the drive to the iPhone if it's unable to deliver enough power.

Q: 6. Can this drive be used with pc and mac? Do you need to format it somehow to do both or what?

A: The LaCie 5TB Rugged USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C External Hard Drive BH #LASTFR500080 is not preformatted. You can format the drive with exFat and use it with both Windows and MacOS.

Q: 7. What brand of HDD do they use in this enclosure?

A: I believe it must be Seagate, as LaCie is touted as Seagate premium product.

Q: 8. Does this work with the latest MacBook Pro usb c port or will I need to use an adapter?

A: That's correct. This HDD has a USB Type-C interface. It's compatible with the latest MacBook Pro's with a USB Type-C port.

Q: 9. Does it work with iMac 2019?

A: Yes, it is compatible. You can use either the type-c or type-a cable to connect to the iMac, both come in the box.

Q: 10. Will I need a different cable to connect the external drive to my brand new 13 inch MacBook Pro M1?

A: No. The LaCie 5TB Rugged USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C External Hard Drive BH #LASTFR500080 includes a USB Type C to Type C cable which you can use to connect to a Macbook Pro M1.

[24 TB] 22TB SanDisk Pro G-Drive drive review

I'm using this drive in a large photo and film Archive. I purchase a sample drive to test out before committing to more drives. The reformat to Windows is a pain. Luckily, I found a YT video that walked me through it. After reformatting the drive to Windows, the 22TB shrunk to 20TB. That is disappointing.

It is not that noisy, just a few clicks once in a while. It is decently fast and really kinda quiet. I am using a USB3.0 port with Oyen adapter cable to go from USB C to USB A. SanDisk only gives you a USB C cable.

Time will tell how they hold up, but if they do hold up, I plan to buy a few more.

[ 3.5" HDD ] I used WD drive more than 10 years and still love it.
Good price for this amount of Tb in it.

[12 VDC] With the reviews coming out for the latest G-tech drives, I started looking for an alternative. One month in and multiple transfers on the two 12 TB drives, they are almost as quiet as most of my g-techs. No glitches, so far. The power light on one of the drives does not light up.

[ 3.5" HDD ] So far so good. I will be buying 2 more and only time will tell, but so far I'm loving my units and the space they provide. They make some noise but no enough to complain about. New design is also really nice!

[ 3.5" HDD ] All you need to know is what you get the entire storage. Very often you get less storage than offered. I bought 12tb model and was surprised macOS showed that 12tb available. Not 10-11tb like is happens all the time in a 12tb HDD.

Things that not reflect my rating:
- it makes some noice. Not a lot, but if you do VoiceOver, you would probably want to move this HDD or hide it under desk. Just remember it is not SSD.
- Booting time is way too long. 5-6 seconds. Read my next point, why it is not really a con.
- For some reasons, the HDD is always stops and starts. It does not spin constantly. And actually, it freaks me out. I am currently on macOS 12.6 and unchecked put hard disks to sleep when possible. I do editing in FinalCut, and it is just impossible to use it with. Why it is not a con? It is more like a software thing and I think it can be fixed, so the disk can spin all the time while the Mac is not sleeping. Or at least it can have like 5 minutes times before go to sleep.
- unfortunately, is has a regular, not integrated, external power adapter, not an additional USB-C port for power. Not sure if technically it is even possible, but it would be so cool.
- has very nice marked USB-C cable
- reading/writing speed depends on the storage amount. Make sure you check it. Currently, 22tb is the fastest. In case every mb/sec is important for you.

[ 3.5" HDD ] This is so much better having ONE disk than having a storage disk array that spews heat with multiple disks, raid setups, etc. for the price, rather than get a storage array i got two of these 24tb disks, one for my data and one for its backups.
