The diskAshur3 is engineered to provide tamper-proof security. Accessing its components requires physically breaking the enclosure, clearly indicating any tampering attempts. Moreover, all internal parts are shielded with a layer of durable epoxy resin, enhancing protection against physical attacks.

The firmware complies with FIPS 140-3 Level 3 standards. Additionally, the drive features a secure microprocessor certified to Common Criteria EAL5+, along with a distinctive flash lock mechanism, providing defense against potential firmware attacks.

It also provides robust protection against BadUSB attacks via a secure USB controller firmware protection mechanism. This guarantees the authentication of the USB controller firmware prior to any unlocking attempt.

If the user PIN is entered incorrectly 10 consecutive times, it will be deleted. Data will remain on the device but only accessible with the Admin PIN. If the Admin PIN is entered incorrectly 10 consecutive times, all data is lost forever. The device will need to be reconfigured before it can be re-used.

The diskAshur3 can be configured with independent user, admin, and one-time recovery PINs, ensuring flexibility without compromising security.

No pre-set admin PIN is provided, and one must be configured before the drive can be used.

Once the self-destruct PIN is entered, the encryption key and all PINs are deleted and all data is rendered as lost forever.

The backlighting can be turned on or off, making the keys visible in low light conditions.

Install any OS on the diskAshur3 and boot directly from it.

The drive can be set to automatically lock when idle following a predetermined length of time.

Restricts write access to the drive, making it impossible to modify the data stored on it.

Select between the default AES-XTS 256-bit mode or the AES-ECB 256-bit and AES-CBC 256-bit modes.

[2 TB] This is actually our third, but different color. We had to do handle backup on existing computer and found them dependable and high speed while highly compact. So when I new computer entered the family we knew just where to go for a new backup device.

[Bus Powered] The tiny X9 Pro is very fast and remains cold during multiple GBs of photo file transfer. exFAT format for Mac and PC. Sturdy aluminum with rubber base. I find the included cable appropriate and convenient, certainly not a negative. Fast shipping as always.

[2 TB] I needed another external USB SSD to handle all of the raw image files I need to work on. I use it primarily as a vehicle for taking my raw files on the road and, when I am traveling, as a means for storing those files.

I bought my first Crucial external SSD (the X6 version) for the same purpose and, when I ran out of space (it has a 2 TB capacity), I decided I needed a larger drive that was faster, if that was possible - so I bought my first 4TB XT10 Pro drive. Well, after finding that it's a real screamer and filling that drive with raw files, I decided I needed another one, so here I am, with the second 4TB drive I'm now reviewing.

So, what do I like about my two 4TB X10 drives? They are FAST! And they're compact. With their USB 3.2/C connections, I can have both connected to either my workstation or my laptop at the same time, giving me 8TB of extra capacity, especially important on my laptop, which has only a 1TB internal SSD. And, when I'm out shooting, 50GB of raw files isn't uncommon.

How fast are these drives? Fast enough so I can edit raw files on my 14-core i7 laptop rapidly without a single second of slow performance.

While I'm totally satisfied with my Crucial SSDs, I wish they were larger. Frankly, when those larger drives are available, I'll be buying them.

If anyone is wondering what I'm doing with my 2TB X6 SSD, I'm using it for JPG files. So, when I travel, I carry my three external SSDs with me.

[2 TB] Fast and works fine. I have several Crucial drives and they have all been reliable, but I haven't owned these drivers for long enough to Judge reliability. They are used for backup, so not a lot of read/write use.

[2 TB] So far so good! It's much smaller than I anticipated, but I honestly didn't look at dimensions as much as I was looking at what it could do for me. Set up was simple and quick; transfers are quick and painless; it's VERY portable. My biggest complaint is that it does not consistently eject properly, I quit everything on my computer and it *still* said there was an application open preventing it from ejecting.

[2 TB] I bought this drive to replace a rugged La Cie whose ports were going bad. It doesn't have the rubber protection of the La Cie, but it's so small, you can easily slip it into your pocket and protect it like that. It comes with ExFat formatting , which although compatible with Monterey OS, is NOT compatible with Time Machine. So step one: reformat to APFS. Then it works great and can be backed up to Time Machine along with my other drives. If for some reason you decide to keep the ExFat formatting, be aware that it is a data hog, causing your files to take up 1.5 to 2 times more space than APFS requires.
