Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this book cover Luminar 4?

A: This book was published June 2019 before Luminar 4 was announced.

Q: 2. How would this guide work for advice on the Z6 II? He has a new book about the Z6 II but it costs $40. I don't think there is that much difference between the 2 versions of Z6

A: This will be good for giving you general information on the camera as well as some detailed information. There are some differences between the cameras in terms of features and menu settings and layout. So there will be something's that aren't addressed or can be confusing when using this book. That being said, for the most part this book will be a very useful resource for using the Z6 II. Additionally the book for the Z6 II is not available in print yet. If you need something now, this is the one to get.

Q: 3. Is this gonna fit my elinchrom strobes?

A: Yes the umbrella will fit your strobes. I use the umbrella on my studio strobes and my mono lights on location. The size of the shaft should fit many different brands of strobes. Make sure you have a good stand to support the weight.

Q: 4. Having migrated from large Nikon bodies and lenses to a Fuji Xe2 with 18-55, 55-200, 14mm,23mm,35mm,60mm I am wondering which Newswear would better fit my needs. I am looking at the documentary and the medium. Not having any experience with this product perhaps you can steer me in the right direction.I teach photography and find myself involved with all kinds of image making. Hiking, street photography, etc. Thanks,Elliot Stern

A: I think that the Newswear Mens Documentary Chestvest will be a better choice for your equipment, as the Medium size Chestvest is more accommodating for longer lenses rather than small primes such as those in your arsenal of equipment.

Q: 5. Why is the model on your website listed as 13 mp for he model but its 16 mp on the paper shoot website? Is it an error or is it really 13 mp.

A: Error. The following unit offers a 16MP CMOS Image Resolution sensor.

Q: 6. I'm looking for the best option for me (mens documentary chestvest or Mens Digital Chestvest). I always carry two bodies MIII and X1, 3 lenses 24-70, 70-200, 17-55. Im a photojournalist. Which one is the best for me?

A: I would recommend the Digital Chestvest for your needs.

Q: 7. Does this book go through the Custom Setting Menus?

A: David D. Busch Nikon Z 5 Guide to Digital Photography goes through the custom settings menus.

Q: 8. does this camera take square photos?

A: The Think & Shoot Spring Morning Camera shoots a standard rectangular image.

Q: 9. I have a canon 7d mark ii with grip, will my camera body enter the first compartment intended for camera bodies?

A: It will be too small for the Canon 7D with grip you will need the larger size vest: https://bhpho.to/2VugXDL

Q: 10. Would Busch's guide on the Z6 also be good for the Z6 II ? I don't think the 2 cameras are that different, and Busch has a new book on the Z6 II that costs $40.

A: I do believe the Nikon Z6 and the Nikon Z6 II are similar enough to where you may get benefit using the older book for the newer camera. However, there may be some autofocus, intervalometer, and video features that were released with the newer camera may be better explained in the newer book designed specifically for the Z6 II. That being said, if you are on a budget, this book may still be beneficial for your usage needs.

[9780240824154] This was recommended strongly by a friend. My was delivered the day before an 8 day trip to Haiti where I knew I needed to carry my stuff around pretty much all day every day. This vest worked perfectly for me. Took about 1 minute to adjust the straps, the pockets fit my lenses well, extra room for batteries and such, even carried sunblock and bug spray in one pocket. The only thing I might do is trim a couple inches off the front velcro straps because on my frame they're a bit long and I folded them down on themselves so they weren't flopping around. This is nothing to do with workmanship or design though, so no complaints from me. I think I'll be using this vest quite often.

[2.05 lb] The medium men’s documentary chestvest is perfect for carrying photo equipment when you’re going to be on your feet for several hours. The medium size is just right for mirrorless gear. It distributes the weight better than shoulder bags and I find it more comfortable than waist packs.

[Yes] I have been wishing for something like this for years. The Chestvest allows one to carry extra things on an airplane without taking up the under seat space or the overhead bin.

For a recent trip, it was home to 2 sets of Rode Lavalier microphones, an extra lens, spare batteries, an ND filter, two camera lights, business cards, passport, a fold-up white balance disc, memory cares, a 1 Tbyte solid disk drive, and more. This gave me more room in my backpack for other equipment.

As importantly, when out in the field, all these things were easily accessible. No hunting through my backpack as they were right in front of me. And going through customs was a dream, as my passport and ticket were in my front pocket. Heck, I even had my sunglasses in a pocket.

It appears like it is made to last. It is adjustable. I am 5'10 and 160 pounds and it fit well. When bending over, the straps would occasionally fall but I attribute that more to my slim build and that I didn't have them tightened as tight as they could be. Even when the straps fell, the pack remained around my waist.

My raincoat fit around it, which provided extra protection (although it is well protected from the elements).

This is a must-have for my kit and I highly recommend it to anyone who travels and needs to carry a lot of stuff and doesn't want to check it with the airlines.

Finally, it provides a nice resting spot for one's hands when sitting on a long flight.

[Focal Press] Is it a bag? Is it a belt? Whatever, it's wonderful. It gives you good freedom of movement, your gear is not likely to fall out and your body doesn't ache as much it might with other solutions.

Yes, you will sweat under it. Yes, it's kind of military-looking. ('Cause those guys know how to carry stuff, I guess?)

And yes, it shares the same major failing as all camera bags - 15 pounds of gear still weighs - 15 pounds! For some reason, every bag I've ever had, from my 1977 second-batch Domke onwards, has had that issue.

I've had my Newswear bag for many years. So long I think it was a prototype, actually. On a lark, I just looked here and I'm thrilled to see the brand going strong.

[May, 2014] This is the best book I have read for understanding close-up and macro photography. The information is clear and easy to follow. Definitely a recommended buy, especially at the price.

[May, 2014] The Newswear Documentary Chestvest was a game changer when I recently photographed two days of pro cycling. I wore it without any discomfort for more than 8 hours each day in 90+ degree weather and was able to fit everything I needed with space to spare. My kit for the weekend included 2 bodies, 4 lenses, 1 flash, extra batteries and SD cards, sun screen, and some snack items.

What I loved: I was able to sit comfortably while wearing the vest meaning I didn't have to take it off to get in a car or eat a meal. The adjustable strap system adjusts to be a perfect fit to any body size.

What I wish it had but didn't: Having D-shaped hanging loops on the suspender straps would be a great addition, allowing the user to connect camera bodies (outfitted with short straps) to the vest straps to eliminate the need for separate camera straps or a Black Rapid-like sling.

[2.05 lb] The title, The Complete Guide to Macro and Close-Up Photography is very accurate in describing this book. Very clear and highly detailed photos in the book and great tips for macro and close up work. Highly recommend.

[Focal Press] Carrying my big backpact is not always practical. If I'm on location or know what I'm going to be shooting, this allows me to easily carry a couple of lenes plus accessories. Great for landscape and nightsky shots where the setup is a few hundred meters to a few kilometers from the car.
