Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can you connect this drive to a Samsung Galaxy Tablet?

A: No. You can connect the LaCie Copilot 2TB drive to a tablet or phone. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1381645-REG/seagate_stgu2000400_2tb_dji_copilot_drive.html

Q: 2. Which would be the best match for a macBook pro macOS 10.14.6? I want to move my photo catalog to an external drive.

A: This drive works well with the Macbook Pro and comes with the cable you need in the box.

Q: 3. Whats the difference between usb 3.1 gen 1 type-c vs usb 3.1 gen 1 micro-b?

A: The difference is the connector that is on the drive itself. The USB Type C model has a Type C connector which is more durable and reversible. The USB Micro B variant has a USB 3.0 Micro B connector which is not as good as Type C. The actual speed on the drives is exactly the same.

Q: 4. Can you easily transfer files from USB 2.0 connections, and will 3.0 files transfer easily to 2.0 USB's on computer?

A: USB 3.0 is compatible to USB 2.0. If you have a USB 2.0 port on your computer, you will use the USB 3.0 Type-C to Type-A cable for compatibility. Transferring a file to a 2.0 port will be the same concept as a USB 3.0 port. However, the hard drive will downgrade to a USB 2.0 speed.

Q: 5. Can anyone advise me as to how to upload phots onto this ? I can't figure stout.

A: This drive is designed to be connected to a computer. Once it is connected to the computer and properly formatted you would use it as an external drive and then you'd be able to bring photos on to it with a camera that is connected to the same computer. You cannot bring photos directly to this drive.

Q: 6. Read & Write Speed?

A: The LaCie 4TB Rugged USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C External Hard Drive BH #LASTFR400080 has a data transfer speed of up to 130MB/s.

A: 5400RPM, between 100-130MB/s

Q: 9. can i use this hard drive for regular microsoft laptop as well as apple Macbook, to drag the files inside and take them out freely?

A: Yes, you can reformat the drive exFAT to use between Mac and Windows.

Q: 10. Is this an SSD drive?

A: As far as I can tell, it is not a solid state drive. I don't see this written anywhere, so I assume that it is not SSD.

[ 3.5" HDD ] Bought this when it was on sale because I needed more storage. Already had 2 full and have had no issues with either. For long term storage these have been great and reasonably priced

[12 VDC] This is my third HD, whenever I needed Tech Support via chat OWC is fantastic. They were able to resolve an issue that Lightroom was giving. Well made and quite.

[20 TB] I purchased the 2TB version which is more than sufficient for my 500GB MacMini. The only thing I will criticize is that the setup instructions come with the Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office built in. If you have a Mac, you don't need this; Apple's Time Machine provides excellent backup, and it comes with your operating system. After going through the OWC setup instructions, you'll find that Acronis is being offered for a free 1 year subscription. To setup your OWC miniStack, just go straight to the Time Machine setup.

[12 VDC] With the reviews coming out for the latest G-tech drives, I started looking for an alternative. One month in and multiple transfers on the two 12 TB drives, they are almost as quiet as most of my g-techs. No glitches, so far. The power light on one of the drives does not light up.

[ 3.5" HDD ] We have used several large format drives in the past, and this is by far the most stable and reliable one we've had yet. The size is great - does not take up much space on the desk top (about the size of a Mac Mini). We've had no issues with failures or transfer speeds. Heartily recommend this drive.

[ 3.5" HDD ] Aesthetically, this drive looks identical to my Mac Mini. The unit looks super sleek when stacked under my drive. I had the 8TB custom built for back-up purposes primarily and it seems extremely responsive with TimeMachine scheduled back-ups. The drive isn't what I would call silent, you definitely hear this drive if you're at the workstation while it's writing but it's not distracting at all. Set-up and formatting was incredibly easy. The auto formatting software comes on the drive. Plug it in, go through the set-up prompts (pick either IOS or PC) and you're good to go. Good device. Hope it lasts since I've never paid this much for an ED ever.
