Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can anyone tell me the outer diameter of the 77mm step up ring(s) ? I'm interested to know if I can use a 80mm push on cap over it.

A: The OD is probably 79 or 80mm. You will have to try it with your cap, This is never an exact science due to the fact that dimensions are never precise from cap to cap and ring to ring.

Q: 2. Hi. I just wanted to confirm the following: I have a 77mm 6 stop ND Filter that I want to use on 72/67/62/58/52/43mm lenses. Am I correct in saying that I am looking for a Step-Up Filter Holder (eg 72-77mm)? I need to confirm as I need buy a few of these. Also will you get vignetting when using these filters? Thanks.

A: Yes, you need to use individual step up filters for all your lenses. I use 5 step up filters for all my lens sizes to fit 77mm ND filter. 72-77mm, 67-77mm , 58-77mm, 49-77mm

Q: 3. will this work putting a 72mm fisheye onto a 58mm filter size for the canon gl2?

A: This is not the right ring for that job; this is the one you need: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/809629-REG/Sensei_sur5872_58_72mm_Step_Up_Ring.html

Q: 4. 49 mm is a common thread size for Sony and mft lenses, so I think the small 37mm is also a mft and small bayonet lenses, so, I think it's good to step for this kind of lenses

A: Is this a question or a statement?

Q: 5. I have a 37mm opteka fisheye lens and i want it to fit on my panasonic pv-gs400 which has a 43mm thread. Will this stepup down ring fit the fisheye on the 43mm lens?

A: Sorry, if you were to mount this smaller lens onto a larger lens, you will get vignetting. For the PV-GS400, here is a fine fish eye for you. Raynox HDP-2800ES High Definition 0.28x Diagonal Fisheye Conversion Lens B&H # RAHDP2800ES. Yes, it is more expensive but it will work.

Q: 6. Could this cause vignetting on a 15mm wide angle lens?

A: While it would depend on the lens and filter you are using to say for sure, since this is a step-up ring and even wider, it is unlikely that it would cause any vignetting.

Q: 7. Does it come in something to store it in?

A: Yes, the Sensei PRO 58-67mm aluminum step-up ring comes in a clear protective case.

Q: 8. Will the 39mm end of adapter fit a Leica lens?

A: The Sensei PRO 39-49mm Aluminum Step-Up Ring will fit on any lens that has a 39mm filter thread. 39mm is a common filter thread size for many Leica lenses.

Q: 9. Am planning to do these 1. step up from 37-52mm and then 2. step up from 52-67mm 3. Mount a 67mm CPL filter Will I be introducing vignetting in this setup? Appreciate all comments. Thanks in advance.

A: Depends on the lens you're using. But its likely you wouldn't get any vignetting from the filter due to the filter being so much bigger than the lens diameter. A random suggestion I think would help to simplify the process, consider looking into this step up ring. It's from 37-67mm all in one. So you wouldn't need to stack step-ups. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1355342-REG/benro_dr6737_67_37mm_step_down_ring.html?sts=pi&pim=Y

Q: 10. can i use a step down on a 77 to 67 and then another on top of it from 67 to 49

A: Yes you use more than one step down adapter ring. Note you will get a lot of vignette when using that setup of 77 lens filter thread to a 49mm filter.
