The RAD-1 Microphone Shockmount for Boompoles CCM/CMC Editionis a microphone shockmount suitable primarily for indoor booming or outdoors with no winds, when using the mic by itself or with only a foam windscreen. Designed to hold Schoeps CCM microphones and capsules with CMC1-U, CMC1-L, or CMC1-K amplifiers, this suspension provides exceptional isolation from movement, handling noise, and other vibrations associated with booming.

The RAD-1 (CCM/CMC Edition) features two soft-coated universal mic clips (dark gray). It also comes with a special 8mm mic clip (black) to provide a customized fit for Schoeps microphones with LEMO connectors. To achieve the best isolation for your style of booming, two pairs of interchangeable RAD-1 hoops are included: standard firmness (black) and soft firmness (dark gray). The base of the shockmount comes with a 360° rotatable XLR holder to further isolate the mic from cable noise. There is a 3/8"-16 thread at the bottom to mount the RAD-1 on boompoles, stands, or with quick-connect attachments.

Note: XLR jumper cable is not included.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Do you sell replacement elastic for this shockmount? After 5 years mine is worn out.

A: Unfortunately we do not. Try contacting Rode.

Q: 2. Will this fit an Electrovoice RE320 (or RE20)?

A: No, it will not. The mics that this is compatible with have a removable nut at the bottom of the mic that attach them to the shockmount. For the RE-20 you will want to use either the Auray SSM-BC10 or the EV 309A https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1075015-REG/auray_ssm_bc10_suspension_shock_mount.html https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/76703-REG/Electro_Voice_3091965_309A_Suspension_Microphone_Shock.html

Q: 3. Will an Audio Technica 2500 fit in this? Thank you.

A: For the ATR2500-USB microphone, the correct shockmount is linked below:a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1075694-REG/auray_shm_scm1_shock_mount_for_condenser.html/pageID/accessory target= _blank http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1075694-REG/auray_shm_scm1_shock_mount_for_condenser.html/pageID/accessory/aIf you meant the AE2500 kick drum mic, you would need the 8471 clamp instead.a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/352412-REG/Audio_Technica_AT8471_8471_Isolation_Clamp.html/pageID/accessory target= _blank http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/352412-REG/Audio_Technica_AT8471_8471_Isolation_Clamp.html/pageID/accessory/a

Q: 4. Will this fit an MXL BCD-1?

A: I'm not sure that it will because the MXL-BCD-1 doesn't have a threaded end where the XLR cable plugs in. The way the mic is held into this mount is using a threaded washer. If you look at the Rode Procaster Mic (ROPROCASTER), you can see how there is a treaded washer at the end where you would mount into the shockmount. The BCD-1 has that additional bracket that almost replaces the need for a shockmount. Not sure this is the right product for the mic you have.

Q: 5. Is this also compatible with the rode broadcaster?

A: No. The broadcaster has a rather high profile switch for the high-pass filter. I've tried a few shock mounts until I found a decent fit with the Rode SM2 mount.

Q: 6. Works for tripods too?

A: This polish should be acceptable for poles made out of aluminum or graphite.

Q: 7. Can you use this with Sennheiser me66/k6 mic?

A: The Sennheiser MZS 600 shock mount is designed for the MKE600. The ME66/k6 is 2.5mm bigger in diameter than the mke600. It may be tight fit. The Sennheiser MZSK6 is a shock mount designed specifically for K6 microphones, but at this price-point, I would probably go with a different shockmount. Please consider the Rycote Universal Shotgun Mount (B&H# RYUSGM) as it is a better investment.

Q: 8. Will fit Samson G Track Pro?

A: No. You want the Samson SP04. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1434449-REG/samson_sasp04tb_sp04_spider_shock_mount.html

Q: 9. Does anyone know the name of the replacement elastic bands? Or the size of the elastic bands? Thank you for your help!

A: While we don't sell the replacement bands separately, we do recommend either reaching out to the manufacturer at smallrig@smallrig.com, or looking to purchase a new mount, such as B&H # AUDUSM1.

Q: 10. would this be useful for the Rode PodMic? I know the PodMic has a "built in" shock mount of some sort, but I could use more isolation. Not sure if it would fit in there, though. Thanks.

A: No. This would be incompatible with the pod mic,

[7.7 x 4.7 x 4"] I use it with a Sennheiser MKH 8060 and it works well.

[7.7 x 4.7 x 4"] I use an array of CMC1 mics with Omni, wide and regular cardioid to capture multiple stereo imaging options simultaneously. I use the Grace 66 cm SpaceBar with multiple mounts on it. The stereo bar has 5/8-27 (standard US) mic mounts only. But the Rycote uses the 3/8-16 (more commonly used in EU). The brass adapter is provided (as seen in the product image), but it does raise the mounts an additional 2 cm. It would be nice if these were instead default 5/8-27 thread with an internal adapter for the 3/8-16, because then the installed height would be the same for either thread option. This is a minor gripe, but not trivial when trying to keep an inconspicuous low-profile of the mic bar.

The compliance of the mount is a perfect match for the CMC1, completely eliminating conducted noise from the stand reaching the mics (like foot-thumping on the stage when the mic-stand is on the stage - big problem with the rigid factory mounts that come with the Schoeps mics).

Given the really small bodies of the CMC1, I would not recommend using a standard XLR connector with this combination: the weight of the connector and cable will distort the mounts, and reduce the effectiveness of the shock-mount. I made custom cables using Cable Techniques low-profile right-angle XLR (BH #CACTBX3FR), and Mogami W2697 thin cable (BH# MOW2697164BK) which fits perfectly in the strain-relief on the Rycote mount. The cable capacitance is higher than standard mic cable, but for only a 20' length - it is far below the driving limit of the mics, so no worries about HF attenuation.

Be careful how you store these, as if they are stored for long periods in a deformed-position, they take a while to straighten-out again. These are the best shock-mounts I have found - I use a similar model for the Neumann KM-184 as well.

[0.46 lb] I use a pair of these for my MS setup(cmc1’s, mk8, mk22). When these were released in 2019 it was welcomed with open arms. I went from a 13” to 6.7” Rycote windshield. Amazing! Size and weight is a big deal for me as I hike to my locations and I carry the mentioned MS setup plus an ORTF(2 ccm4’s). They perform excellent as expected and they draw less battery power than the CMC6. I had no reason to not own a pair.

[0.46 lb] Good fit for my camera cables, portable hard drive cables, and a few flash drives.

[0.46 lb] I'm using this mic to not over to provide voice-over commentary for a documentary that I'm working on, but also for Zoom meetings. Together, with the absolutely tiny stand (Schoeps TCg Miniature Table Stand), the mic is a discrete 'boom' mic that disappears on the desktop and avoids extraneous room sounds. While expensive, the quality and size are unbeatable.

And if you're already using the mic for its typical use, it can now dual-purpose as a very high quality desktop mic using the Schoeps TCg stand.

[7.7 x 4.7 x 4"] Bought these to use with my newly acquired Sonorous Objects SO.101 and SO.103 microphones, and they fit well. I am using a normal length XLR connector, but a shorty might fit as well.
