Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. how round is it? trying to figure out how chunky it is in the hand.

A: The diameter of the Leofoto Spider MT-04 Aluminum Mini Tripod with LH-30 Ball Head excluding knobs, is roughly 1.85" / 47mm. The legs themselves are squared off, and not round, so it would not be a totally smooth feel.

Q: 2. Hi. The specs say 50mm, where exactly is that measured ? the top circle part or does the 50mm include the grips ? Thank You.

A: The 50mm measurement is is taken from the diameter of the receiver base on the Leofoto QS-50 Quick-Link Tripod Head Quick Release Set (50mm).

Q: 3. Can this be used with other Brand’s tripod ( manfrotto, Sirui )?.. do we need special adapter?

A: Yes, this may be used with other brands' tripods. :) No, you won't need an adapter. Most tripods use a 3/8"-16 mounting screw.

Q: 4. What is the funtion of the small single screw on the base plate?

A: Leofoto QS-50 Quick-Link Tripod Head Quick Release Set (50mm) comes with a 3/8" screw that will screw onto the bottom of your tripod head and will allow you to have quick release between the tripod head and the tripod.

Q: 5. Hi, Does it shift the composition a bit when tighten the control knobs?

A: The Leofoto PG-1 Gimbal Head does not shift when tightening the knobs.

Q: 6. Is this compatible with Arca-Swiss Quick-Link?

A: The Leofoto QS-70 Quick-Link Tripod Head Quick Release Set is not compatible with Arca-Swiss Quick-Link.

Q: 7. Can the clamp be rotated 90 degrees?

A: The Leofoto BV-1 Fluid Video Head can rotate 360 degrees, but the Arca-type quick release clamp itself does not rotate.

Q: 8. What is the difference between this and Leofoto BV-1R? All I can see is that there is a small weight difference, but what else?

A: There are no other differences except the slightly lighter weight on this Leofoto BV-1 Fluid Video Head, which is an updated version of the Leofoto Mini Fluid Head BV-1R.

[Black] I saw this recommended to fit between my Move Shoot Move star tracker and the ballhead under my camera body. It solves the problem of the ballhead directly on the MSM coming loose as it rotates throughout the evening. I use the set screws on the undreside of the QS-50 to get a tighter connection on the MSM. So far I have been using it to do longer sub frames and for up to two hours without any problems.

[Black] For its size I am very happy with this purchase. Balances my 400 2.8 and R5 gripped very well and everything smaller. I’m sure it would have no trouble with a 600 f4 either. Much smaller and lighter than my previous head the MVH502AH

[5.86 lb] This makes swapping tripod heads quick and easy. And its secure. I've had heads rotate on the mounting screw because I was unable to tighten them enough and I've struggled to remove a head to swap heads when changing from ball head to gimbal or vice versa. Previously i had to use a strap wrench to solve these problems. Now its just twist open, swap, and twist closed.

[Black] I really don't have anything negative to say about this Gimbal head. It is very smooth and has great control of both axis tension. The finish is pleasing as is the overall design. It also handles any camera and lens combo with ease.

However, it is missing a few things that I would like to have seen. First, it doesn't have a safety stop at the top of the cradle arm to prevent the cradle from sliding off the top of the arm. Second, the plate that comes with it is really not great. It is too slippery to mount a lens to without slipping. Lastly, I would have really liked to see a case come with this Gimbal.

Those improvements would make this a top notch piece of equipment. Otherwise I don't have any complaints and like everything about this Gimbal.

[Black] Purchased this for lightweight work for occasional video use with my M4/3 system. It does that job well and is very lightweight itself, so it suits my needs perfectly. Also seems to be very well made, although I haven't used it extensively yet.

[5.86 lb] Tested this all morning as a new product and will be doing a video review of this one soon. Quick thoughts, supports and counterbalances 15lbs easily. Good ergonomics. Nice drag controls, easy to use. Lighter than most supporting this weight. Overall Winner!
Cons: a hair of slack when changing the drag, wish there were 1-2 more counterbalance setting (there is frictionless and 3 steps on top of that, 4-5 would have been perfect)

[5.86 lb] I used to love my 4th Generation Mongoose for its simplicity, size, and weight, but it was lacking in smooth operation compared to my Wimberley WH-200 which I considered the Gold Standard for smooth and accurate operation. BUT, I have a new favorite - the Leopard
Foto PG-1. I am using it with an OM-1 and 150-400mm f4.5 and it is PERFECT! Every box is checked off: stability, smooth operation, weight, size, customizability, and price. Atop my RRS TVC-34, I now feel I have the perfect setup!
