Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How tall is this lens hood?

A: This is a little over 2"

Q: 2. What size is the shaft? 8mm, 10mm, ?

A: The shaft size on this umbrella would be 8mm.

Q: 3. I use a Sensei 58mm to 72mm adapter ring to mount 72 mm filters on my Lumix 12-35 lens. This works fine, except I cannot use the original lens hood and the front glass is exposed to direct sunlight. Will this lens hood feel the bill, without vignetting? Thanks in advance.

A: I did have some problems with the tulip design. It did show up in the picture. What I have to do is check the picture out before taking to make sure.

Q: 4. The 45 measurement shown is the arc size. Do you know what the diameter measures when fully opened ?

A: Mine is 43 from BH

Q: 5. Is it possible to use with a 85mm f1.4?

A: The Heliopan 72mm Long Metal Lens Hood will fit on any lens it a 72mm filter thread. They do not specify a focal range coverage. In most cases, an 85mm f1.4 lens comes with a hood provided by the lens maker and that included hood would be better for your lens. If you need a replacement hood for your 85mm f1.4 lens, please send and email with the brand and model of your lens to: prophoto@bhphoto.com

Q: 6. Will this hood cause vignetting if used with a 20mm lens on a full frame camera?

A: As the Heliopan 72mm Screw-in Rubber Lens Hood is a universal lens hood, Heliopan does not list a specific focal length or lens for which this lens hood is designed for usage. However, when using a wide angle lens, do note that by rolling back the lens hood, its opening can be made to correspond with a wide-angle lens's angle of view so that vignetting is reduced or eliminated. However, I recommend testing on your own 20mm lens to see if it vignettes, and note that this item may be returned within 30 days of purchase date for a refund or exchange if it does not work for your usage needs.

Q: 7. Does it fits on a Tamron 18-400?

A: Just keep the package! It should fit, but sometimes it just doesn't. Good luck. Odds are it will fit on the tamron 18-400 just fine

Q: 8. Will it work with 10mm lens (fuji 10-24 lens) without vignetting?

A: You will probably get vignetting on 10mm, the hood that comes with the lens is tulip shaped. Your better off with a tulip hood like the one listed below; https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/843337-REG/sensei_lhsc_72_72mm_screw_on_tulip_lens.html

Q: 9. I am curious what material this is made of. In other words, the brightly colored portion, is it made of metal or plastic? The photos appear to make it look like the bright blue portion is molded plastic.... Please advise.Jeff

A: The whole thing is plastic and very light. The only metal parts are the screws for the mounts and the cold shoe insert.

Q: 10. Will this fit with Sony 16-35 F4 PZ lens?

A: Yes, the Sensei 72mm quick clip lens hood will fit onto the threads of the Sony 16-35mm f/4 PZ lens. However, due to how long the hood is, there is a good chance it will vignette at the wide end of the lens.

[5 x 4.9 x 0.5"] Was a little skeptical at this low price point but the filter is a winner. Super smooth rotating action. Super wide range too. Seems like no degradation in image quality.

[Multi Coated] Took my photos with my 28-70 to the next level, it now lives on that lens and probably will forever. The 1/4 grade is absolutely perfect for everyday use. Will definitely be looking into different sizes for other lenses.

[Multi Coated] If you're looking to try long exposure on a budget, this is a very solid buy.

I bought this for a first attempt at long exposure waterfalls and I am immensely pleased, especially with the price point. I shoot black & white so I can't comment on any possible color aberrations, but all of my shots are clean and sharp. It took getting sprayed by waterfalls in the middle of winter very well, cleans easily and threads smoothly. Best paired with 100 speed film on bright sunny days, it only took me down to 1-2 seconds with 400 speed.

[0.195 lb] I wanted a decent variable ND filter that wouldn't break the bank. I primarily use this filter for motion blur in long exposure images as well as portraits in sunny conditions using OCF with low aperture settings. I am quite happy with the results.

[0.195 lb] A filter like this is a MUST HAVE if you want to level up how your images (for photography and video) look in broad, intense daylight in one fell swoop.

They reduce the overall amount of light coming in the camera so you can stop down for a beautiful optically blurred out background and heavily reduce intense sunlight reflections, virtually adding dynamic range in daylight. I knew this would help my shots but my jaw dropped when a got the footage back from testing locations for a project, with and without. (attached photos are screen grabs of video. Shot on Sony A74, Sigma 24-70 f2.8) *Note: This is my first ND filter and first polarizer.

My testing has found a slight cyan cast in the area where sunlight can hit the lens where shadows can be seen, it looks almost dreamy and I kind of like it, but not perfectly color preserving. With Nano-X Pro, I have not encountered any dark X pattern no mater how I adjusted it, which is far better than most Variable ND + Circular Polarizer filters on the market. The included pouch is made of materials that feel great in the hand and its pull tab that makes the filter rise out of the pouch is a very nice touch that makes me wish K&F Concept included this pouch with more filters and also sold separately. I want other filters in these things! (Wile they do sell other pouches. They do not sell the ones included with these filters.)

If you are on the fence and don't have a ND or polarizer, just get it. It took a while for Polar Pro to finally release something like this, and the price of this one STILL undercuts it. If you are a videographer/photographer, image quality is super important and this is a fantastic tool to help you properly expose your shots. There is a reason why Directors of Photography have built in ND filters on their wish list for their cinema cameras and this is why, it makes their job so much easier and allows them to focus on building the look that they want.
