Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the country of manufacture?

A: As per our records, this lens is currently made in Japan. Please note that this is subject to change at any time.

Q: 2. How much does this cradle assembly weigh?

A: It weighs about 2 lbs.

Q: 3. How are 10x50s Vipers for eyeglass wearers? Full field of view?

A: Because the Vortex 10x50 Viper HD Binoculars (2018 Edition), feature a 16 mm, eye relief, eyeglass wearers will experience a "full field of view".

Q: 4. What color are these binoculars?

A: They are a dark green color.

Q: 5. I purchased a pair of 10x50 Celestron Nature DX ED binoculars and the Celestron Binocular Tripod Adapter. It is not obvious how to connect them, since each of these has a male 1/4-20 screw. There is not a female-to-female adapter to connect them, except for a very thin nut, which may or may not be 1/4-20 (it is very loose on the male threads). Is there a more detailed diagram showing how to mount the binoculars on the tripod adapter?

A: I figured out the problem. The logo cap that is described in the manual is firmly attached to the binocular's female threaded screw. Thus, when I tried to remove the logo cap the female threaded screw was coming off with the logo cap. Once I was able to separate the logo cap from the female threaded screw (with quite a bit of effort), I was able to thread the screw back onto the binoculars, allowing the tripod mount to be attached. Unfortunately the manuals provided by Celestron don't show enough detail for the user to see what the female threaded screw should look like.

Q: 6. Why do some Vortex Viper hd 10x50 binoculars have straight barrels while others show expanded barrels at the front (lens)?

A: All Vortex 10x50 Viper binoculars are wider in the front to accommodate the larger objective lens. The particular pair you are referring are a pair from 2018. Hence the different design.

Q: 7. Hi, I would like to know The dimensions of the tube, the Ota, how long is the tube, please?

A: The OTA is 24.25 inches in length. 4.38 inches in diameter and weighs approximately 5.60 lbs.

Q: 8. I see the telescope comes with a 1.25" reducer adapter to accommodate 1.25" eyepieces. What is the diameter of the focuser?

A: The reducer that is part of the diagonal in this FirstLight 114mm F/4.3 Reflector Telescope is 1.25" diameter .

Q: 9. What's are the conditions on this pair of Nikon binoculars. Is anything scratched, how is the lense and glass?

A: Refurbished items are products that for many reasons did not meet early quality controls at the factory so were not shipped initially. After testing, a manufacturer may determine a product meets all the specifications but does not want it sold as new. A “Refurb” is such an item; which has never been sold, meets the advertised specifications and includes a warranty which may be shorter than the original one offered for a “new” item. Refurbished products include all of the original OEM accessories but will not qualify for incentive promotions, instant savings or rebates. They do however have extended service plans available.

Q: 10. Does a refurbished product have a warranty?

A: The Nikon refurbished products have a 90 day warranty. When shopping our site you can always see what is included with an item by viewing the overview tab and finding the “In the Box” listing located on the right hand side of our web page. The length of the warranty is mention in that section. A new Nikon binocular would have: Limited Lifetime Warranty on the Optical System Limited 7-Year Warranty on Non-Optical Components. Limited 1-Year Warranty on Electrical Components, when Applicable

[10x] This is my first 2" EP and my first 82 degree FOV EP. The view of the double cluster (I could see both in the FOV with my Meade LS-8) was simply spectacular. I was a little anxious about spending close to $300 for an EP. However it is definitely worth the money.

[50 mm] I purchased this coma corrector after reading online reviewer's recommendations. I'm using it on a 8" f/3.9 imaging Newtonian and after getting the spacing correct I have pinpoint stars across the field. I would recommend this corrector for anyone imaging with a fast scope, you will not be disappointed.

[50 mm] This is pretty much my favorite eyepiece. Field of view and clarity are amazing; mix that with the 17mm magnification and it's my goto eyepiece for almost anything. If it were forced upon me I would happily use this as my only eyepiece for the rest of my life.

With that said, I must say that the rubber eyecup fell off within a couple days of use and I will need to figure out the repair myself (not a big enough issue to send back). Also, the plastic cap doesn't fit over the top of the eyepiece for storage? What is that about? It's from a different eyepiece model? I wouldn't expect these issues with an otherwise very high quality piece.

Even with these issues I am giving it 5 stars because they do not take away from the amazing viewing experience and overall quality.

[50 mm] Ordered from USA to Brisbane on a Monday and received Friday via DHL in time for dark skies on Saturday. WOW
Very light weight but solid. Performed well with Explore Scientific + Tele Vue eye pieces on my Celestron 11 and would highly recommend.

[17 mm] I put this eyepiece on my Celestron EdgeHD 8. It is about the widest FOV that I could pull off the OTA. The view is really crisp with point stars to the edge. I can't see any edge brightening or vignetting. The resolution is enough to clearly see the four stars of M42 Trapezium, Jupiter bands, Saturn rings, and even, barely, Saturn cloud bands.
The eye relief is comfortable to view the entire field, without glasses.
This is a hefty piece. Not a problem on an 8 SCT, but may be awkward on a smaller OTA.

[50 mm] Bought this eyepiece as a mid-power upgrade for my trusty 19mm Panoptic since it can give me a wider true field of view and more magnification and better eye relief all in one package. The views through it are stunning. It's sharper and more contrasty than the 19mm Panoptic. It's even a razor sharp planetary eyepiece which I was not expecting. Its sharpness and contrast revealed features in Jupiter's clouds that the 19mm Panoptic and 20mm Series 4000 Plossl I compared it with could not. There was no noticeable ghosting or light scatter - Jupiter was a crisp, clean orb just hanging out in a vast chasm of space. Using it in my 8 F/10 schmidt, the field is flat with no noticeable curvature. Stars exhibit coma at the edges, but that's due to the telescope, not the eyepiece. My only complaint is that eye placement is finicky in this eyepiece. Too close or too far away and you get blackouts. I would rate it as NOT comfortable to look through because of this, and takes a bit of getting used to, but once you do, it performs brilliantly.

[10x] I don't know much about eyepieces but I do have 4 explorer scientific. The 4.5mm and 8.5mm 82 degree, the 17mm 92 degree and the 30mm 82 degree.
I like them all but I really like the 17mm and 30mm.
I can't give any technical details but I can tell you that the 30mm is a pleasure to look through. The same can be said for the 17mm. It would be hard to choose between the two if i could only have one. I guess I would have to go with the 17mm because of the wide field of view plus greater magnification but i would really miss the 30mm.
And I would definitely go with B&H, i recently tried another store in NJ and got ........
