Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. as far as how much it holds how does it compare to the Think Tank Photo StreetWalker HardDrive V2.0?

A: The thinktank Harddrive is a bit bigger coming in at 19.7 x 11 x 7.1" / 50.04 x 27.94 x 18.03 cm while the Rugged thunder comes in at 19.5 x 12 x 6.5" / 49.53 x 30.48 x 16.51 cm

Q: 2. would it fit a Godox AD600 pro as well as a body and a couple lenses?

A: No, I would recommend moving up to the Thunderhead 75.

Q: 3. What size will the waste strap go,I'm a big guy?

A: The waist strap can extend to 57 .

Q: 4. I am 5'4 and weight 105 lbs... Will this bag look ridiculously huge on me?!

A: I think it would look big, but if you have to carry 2 smaller bags that would be a hassle, too.

Q: 5. Would it fit 200-500 Nikon?

A: Yes this backpack can accommodate a Nikon AF-S 200-500mm lens.

Q: 6. Is the waist belt removable?

A: No it is not removable, however it has a dedicated slot into which you can neatly tuck the waist belt and get it completely out of the way when not in use. I didn't know this at first and used an elastic band to hold the waist belt together, the bulkiness of the belt was very awkward and did not allow for a comfortable carry. All of this was corrected when i discovered the waist belt dedicated slot. the bag now carries nicely.

Q: 7. Where is the laptop compartment and does the zipper open at the top or side?

A: If you are wearing the backpack, the laptop compartment is the closest compartment to your back. As noted in another response, the shoulder straps attach to the top of the laptop compartment, and the zipper is to the right side if you are wearing the backpack. The laptop compartment opens to the side and the zipper starts at the top and pulls downward to open the compartment. Most compartments have two zipper pulls for access, but the laptop compartment does not. More than asked: I have fully loaded the backpack with 2 bodies with 70-200 & 24-105 lenses attached, and all the other glass I could fit in plus gadgets, plus a Dell Precision (not light) laptop. The backpack had to have weighed 40-50 lbs very heavy load on your back, but the backpack did not wince I may have a couple times . . .. Because of the weight when fully loaded, I sometimes choose to carry the laptop separately. When I bought, some reviews complained about the weight when fully loaded, but they did not add stars for the amount of equipment this thing will carry. It is designed to be the maximum carry-on size for a plane and barely fit into the overhead bin, not under a seat. You might even need to pull the laptop to get it in the overhead if you put as much in the backpack as I did. If travelling by car, it is really nice to use this as the primary storage container to leave in the trunk & just pull what is needed at the time into a smaller bag. The Ruggard product is extremely well made. If tanks were made of cloth, this would be a prime example. I would buy it again in a heartbeat.

Q: 8. This is a silly question but where is the security whistle located?

A: The security whistle is normally attached to the outer portion of the shoulder straps.

Q: 9. Can this be used as a carryon on flights? From looking at the pictures it looks bulky.

A: Yes, this bag can be carried-on on flights. The FAA regulations dictate that the bag cannot exceed 45 linear inches (measurement of height, width and depth added together). This bag measures at 38.85 linear inches. In general it is always advisable to check with the airline and airports you may be traveling through about the measurements as sometimes local rules are contrary to our own here in the USA.

Q: 10. Would this accommodate a D500 attached to a 200-500, PLUS a D750 attached to either a 24-70, or 16-35 at same time?

A: No, you'll need to detach at least one of those two lenses.

[Yes] I picked this up to hold my Sony a6000 and several lenses. It's smaller and sits up higher on my back allowing access to other items I carry on my belt (multi-tool, flashlight, etc.).

[Universal] This shoulder bag is small enough and big enough while offering great equipment protection. Perfect for camera body with a 16-50mm lens, a 50-250mm telephoto lens, flash and accessories. This bag is extremely well made with great stitching, plenty of storage pockets and dividers. You can't go wrong with this one.

[Zipper] I have been using a LowePro Versa 200 for some time but just never filled it and found its size something of a burden at my age. (the LP is a great bag so don't get that wrong. On the Ruggard, it is a better built than expected for the low price. It holds everything I need to carry. Comfortable to wear. I customized a bit by adding a couple of D-rings and a small side bag for the little odds that don't always have to be carried. I can get a Nikon flash, a 20mm, 24-80 and 24-120 lens, rt-angle viewer, and ball head in the main compartment with some room left over to trade out a lens with my 200mm macro if that needs to go in the bag. One thing I'd say is conspicuously missing it space specific to batteries. There are three CF size card compartments. It has straps and pocket for a small tripod but certainly will not handle a big Gitzo or Bogen/Monfrotto. I'll use that area for a golf umbrella.

[Yes] I bought this for a trip to Europe, not wanting to take my full-size bag. I recently upgraded to an M6ii with all the weight-savings that implies. This bag holds the body with kit lens, and most of my EF glass: 28-135, nifty-50, 10-18 and adapter; three chargers, six batteries and ample space for a little more. I think I could fit my 70-200 2.8 in there, but I don't need it for the trip. As a bonus, my 10-inch tablet fits perfectly in the dedicated pocket. There are straps for a tripod or monopod (I don't plan to use) and a pocket for water (which I will use).

Build quality seems really solid and I wore it around the house to get used to it. It's plenty padded and comfortable. If I have to ever upgrade my large bag, I'll definitely consider Ruggard again.

I can't think of any drawbacks to this bag. I suppose if you wanted to carry a jacket or larger laptop, this bag wouldn't be the one, but if that's the case, just order the larger bag.

[3 lb] This bag is not bad at all, its bigger then I thought. I was not sure of purchasing , but in speaking with customer service for advice and i am glad it did, she was very knowledgeable and helpful with my decision .

The bag is well padded, has plenty of room for 3 lens plus one on the camera, could probably fit another small lens. The front compartments are spacey and also has plenty of room for cables, battery's a charger and the laptop compartment is well padded.

[Black] I bought this bag specifically for two reasons. 1. It met the requirements for carry on baggage and 2. It was specifically designed to also hold an ipad. I wanted something I was going to be able to carry on an airplane but that would also serve the purpose of carrying my ipad and my wallet, while also carrying all my photography equipment and this bag does just that. It is a tad bit bulky, but it definitely serves the purpose that I bought it for. It is also a little heavy empty, which makes it even moreso when it is full. It has tons of protection in it and the velco walls and pockets help to customize the interior to your needs. I haven't had it very long but it is definitely been a huge help so far.

[Yes] Excellent photo backpack. For the price you can't beat it, especially for all the features it has. I've had several bags and I like this one for the versatility and space. If I had one complaint it would be the zipper for the main bag space. It sometimes gets caught on the flap and you have to work it free. Small issue but still annoying from time to time. I love the backpack features such as the bottom latch to hold it on your back and the latch across the chest. The bag holds my full frame mirrorless plus 3 lenses. Not bad for a compact case that's water resistant as well.

[Zipper] I have quite a few camera bags.  This is a smaller/mid size bag that seems exceptionally well made.   Ive used it several times now and really like it.

[Universal] Quite compact and very functional at the same time. Have plenty of space for Mirrorless camera with a few lenses and accessories. Tripod can be conveniently attached to the side.

Most importantly the backpack is very rigid ensuring that camera and lenses are well protected.

[3 lb] This is a great small looking on the inside, but big on the inside backpack. It is lite weight and with all my stuff in it is not a burdensome backpack. The fact that I can carry a light weight tripod on the side is a bonus. It is very well made and has a rain cover to boot that tucks away in a small zip pocket. I have always been a diehard Lowe Pro fan for most of my gear, be it photo equipment or a laptop and this little backpack will hold it's own against the best of them. Love the yellow zipper pulls too!
