Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Confirming, front inner threads are 62mm, rear threads are 67mm?

A: Yes, the front threads are 62 mm and rear thread are 67 mm on the Sensei 67-62mm Step-Down Ring. The Sensei 67-62mm Step-Down Ring is a step-down ring permitting the use of 62mm threaded filters on a 67mm threaded lens.

Q: 2. Are the threads female on both sides?

A: No. The 58mm side is male and screws into the lens. The 49mm side is female and receives the filter's male threads.

Q: 3. can i use a step down on a 77 to 67 and then another on top of it from 67 to 49

A: Yes you use more than one step down adapter ring. Note you will get a lot of vignette when using that setup of 77 lens filter thread to a 49mm filter.

Q: 4. I have a 37mm opteka fisheye lens and i want it to fit on my panasonic pv-gs400 which has a 43mm thread. Will this stepup down ring fit the fisheye on the 43mm lens?

A: Sorry, if you were to mount this smaller lens onto a larger lens, you will get vignetting. For the PV-GS400, here is a fine fish eye for you. Raynox HDP-2800ES High Definition 0.28x Diagonal Fisheye Conversion Lens B&H # RAHDP2800ES. Yes, it is more expensive but it will work.

Q: 5. What is the thread pitch of the 48mm side? Will a M48x0.75 astronomical filter fit?

A: Yes.

Q: 6. Are there any side effects (vignetting, i think is the term used) when using the smaller 77mm filters on the larger 82mm lens?

A: Hi again Steve, just received your reply. I did not consider going to a full frame camera. Throwing that into the mix especially with a 24-70 lens I think pretty much would cause vignetting. Going from an 82mm down to a 77mm equals about one-quarter inch that would equal a one-eighth inch reduction on each side of the filter's rim. I would expect you'll get a lot of vignetting. One consideration is that the Sensei 82-77 step-down ring is not really expensive and if it caused too much vignetting you're not out a lot of money for the ring itself. I buy that brand, as they work very well and at a low cost. I would say to start saving for 82mm filters; I think you'll fine more vignetting than you'll want to deal with, especially going to a full frame camera and that lens.

Q: 7. What is the height protrusion of the ring above the lens?

A: Sensei 72-67mm Step-Down Ring IS 4mm tall above the threads.

Q: 8. could i use this in nikon lens to step down to use with 37mm Firecrest Neutral Density 5.4 Solar Eclipse Filter (18-Stops)?

A: You should be able to, but I am bot sure!

Q: 9. I am thinking about purchasing an 82 mm neutral density filter. Is a step-down ring what I need to allow me to use this filter on my 77 mm lenses? Looking at the 82-77 step-down ring (#408) by Heliopan. Thanks!

A: What you would need is a step up ring instead, since you are trying to fit an 82mm filter on a lens with a 77mm diameter. Please see the following link: http://bhpho.to/1n8QhUq

Q: 10. Does this filter allows to use a 67mm filter on 52mm lenses?

A: This will actually do the opposite- this allows you to use a 52mm filter on a 67mm lens. Instead, you will want the 52-67mm step up ring: http://bhpho.to/1clCmra

[Aluminum] I recently purchased a Tamron 24-70 from B&H (and love it by the way). A minor detail was that it uses an 82MM filter while all my Nikon pro lenses take a 77mm. No time was spent considering purchasing all new filters for the one lens. I knew a step down was the answer. I like the larger knurled edges on the Sensei, so that's the I picked. It fit perfectly on the Tammy and my Nikon filters now all screw on and off without a problem

[0.045 lb] It’s a good step down ring and will last as long as you don’t beat it up too much. It’s Aluminum so you can’t be too rough but so far it’s been great!

[0.045 lb] I know step down rings are very simple pieces of metal. But I was relieved to see that they fit well on the lens And my filter fits well on the inside ring. (I have seen worse...)
