The black Shure AD2/N8SB is a digital handheld wireless microphone transmitter compatible with Axient Digital series receivers. The AD2/N8SB comes equipped with a Nexadyne 8/S dynamic supercardioid capsule, featuring an innovative Revonic dual-transducer design that uses two separate, but interdependent sets of diaphragms, voice coils, and magnets. This unique technology gives this dynamic mic a condenser-like clarity with a crisp, yet natural high-end and plenty of detail—allowing vocalists to worry less about mic technique and instead focus on delivering powerful performances. The supercardioid polar pattern delivers tight directionality, high gain before feedback, and enhanced rejection of off-axis sound.

The transmitter operates in an ultrawide 140 MHz UHF bandwidth with selectable 2/10/35mW RF output power and a transmission range up to 330'. It provides up to 8 hours of operation on two AA batteries and up to 9 hours with an SB900A lithium-ion rechargeable battery (available separately). With a durable, moisture-resistant, lightweight aluminum case, the AD2/N8SB transmitter delivers pristine audio quality and RF performance, AES 256-bit encryption for secure transmission, and advanced rechargeability options, making it ideal for high-profile, sound-reinforcement applications.

  • Shure's Nexadyne Revonic system is an innovative dynamic microphone design that uses two matched dynamic transducers, working in conjunction, to provide more opportunity for both greater sound quality and the rejection of unwanted signal.
  • Wiring the transducers out-of-phase cancels mechanical vibration, so self-noise is actively zeroed out. This makes traditional pneumatic shockmounts unnecessary, and allows the transducers to be optimized for acoustic performance.
  • Vocal performers will experience natural and vivid clarity when performing—enabled by a cartridge design that optimizes signal output acoustically, producing more of the desired sound source and less environmental and handling noise.
  • Engineers will receive stronger and clearer output, resulting in fewer EQ corrections that are often necessary with other mics to retain vocal clarity within the mix.
  • The supercardioid polar pattern provides tightly focused audio capture centered on the performer in front of the mic, reducing bleed from other sources for a clearer sound with substantially less feedback issues from on-stage monitors.
  • The interchangeable capsule design allows you to replace the Nexadyne 8/S capsule with a Shure capsule that’s ideal for your application and simply screw it onto the transmitter—including the Nexadyne 8/C (cardioid), KSM8, SM58, Beta 58A, Beta 87A, and Beta 87C capsules.

  • The AD2 quickly syncs with an Axient Digital wireless receiver at the touch of a button via infrared.
  • Automatic Gain adjusts the mic input level for you.
  • The power button conveniently doubles as mute switch, while preserving RF lock.
  • Frequency and power lockout functions prevent accidental or unauthorized changes during events.
  • A backlit LCD with easy-to-navigate menu and controls lets you quickly access frequency, group, and channel settings, along with mute and lock status, RF output, and remaining battery life.
  • Offset function lets you balance mic levels when assigning multiple transmitters to a single receiver slot. Adjustment range: -12 to +21 dB.
  • 2/10/35mW selectable RF output power allows you to increase either the transmitter's range or the number of mics operating simultaneously.
  • Two transmission modes: Standard, for optimal coverage and High-Density, for maximum system channel count and robust coverage.
  • The mic element is protected by a dent-resistant grille, ensuring it survives the rigors of daily stage use.

  • SB900A rechargeable battery (available separately) offers intelligent power management with precision metering in hours and minutes, along with zero memory effect.
  • External charging contacts allow for docked battery charging.
  • SBC220 two-bay and SBC840 eight-bay networked chargers (both available separately) allow for remote power monitoring via Shure’s Wireless Workbench software.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can this mic be used with the UWP-D11 receivers? And more specifically, can they sync channels with the IR feature found on the side of the UWP D11 receiver pack?

A: Yes, this mic can be used with a receiver from the UWP-D11 system. There is an IR sensor on the bottom of the mic to allow for IR syncing. Please note, the transmitter frequency range must match that of the receiver.

Q: 2. DJI mic has interference when using lavalier microphones. Does Hollyland LARK MAX Duo have the same problem? Thank You!

A: We are not aware of any problems with interference when using the Hollyland LARK MAX Duo 2-Person Wireless Microphone System with external lavalier microphones.

Q: 3. Is it possible to lock REC button on transmitter?

A: It is not possible to lock the REC button on the Hollyland LARK MAX Duo 2-Person Wireless Microphone System (2.4 GHz, Black).

Q: 4. Any issues with audio drift on the internal recorder? I still have issues on the DJI even after the firmware update.

A: We have not heard of any issues with audio drift on the internal recorder for the Hollyland LARK MAX Duo 2-Person Wireless Microphone System.

Q: 5. Will it work with the Shure MVL?

A: Yes, the transmitters included with the Hollyland LARK MAX Duo 2-Person Wireless Microphone System can be used with the Shure MOTIV MVL Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone.

Q: 6. Where can we get replacement batteries?

A: The Hollyland LARK MAX Duo uses built-in rechargeable batteries, which are not user-replaceable.

Q: 7. Is the Hollyland 2 mono channels or stereo? or is there is setup?

A: The Hollyland LARK MAX Duo can be configured to output either two mono channels or a single stereo channel.

Q: 8. What size mic head does this have. When I tap accessories for this mic the phone windscreens come in five different sizes so don't know which one to get

A: The microphone head on the Sony UTX-M40 Wireless Handheld Cardioid Microphone Transmitter has a diameter of 1.8" (45.7mm) and height of 3.1" (78.7mm). A windscreen for 1-5/8" (which is 1.625" as a decimal or 41.3mm) diameter should work best. The foam stretches and it will fit securely around the widest part of the microphone.

Q: 9. How long can this mic stay in standby mode if using a lithium battery?

A: I'm not sure about standby mode but I've gotten 3.5-4 hours out of use out of the thing. I always use lithium batteries. Energizer makes two different ones though: Advanced which they say lasts up to 6 times longer and Ultimate which they say lasts up to 9 times longer. Great mic!

Q: 10. Does the audio cut out when the transmitter is placed behind the talents back? You know, like the RodeWirelessGo does.

A: Hi Jacob, yes, it might cut out in such case, since the LARK 150 uses 2.4GHz frequency.

[12.7 x 6.1 x 4"] I have 4 of these capable of delivering 4 stereo mixes or 8 mono mixes. They are well built and work exactly as they should. There are more affordable options hitting the market now, but based on my experience these are a solid value for any band wanting more control over their monitoring experience and wishing to eliminate wedges.

[Supercardioid] I already had a PG wireless receiver, and this mic works perfectly with it. I talked first with Shure, to be certain of the frequency compatibility. 1st gig out, the receiver was located at the mix position, about 70 feet from the stage. There was no fade out, or interference... it just worked. 5 stars.

[Battery] I like this battery because it's easy and fast to charge, and because it is an intelligent battery, the receiver shows how much time I have before it dies. It has 7+hours fully charged in my ADX1 transmitter, and it takes about 2 hours to charge.

[Supercardioid] I've purchased this pouch previously for my wireless transmitter and was very impressed with the fit and ability to stretch and fit other transmitters if needed. So for my new transmitter I decided to purchase this again. This time around, I purchased this one with both waist and arm bands included. I found this very convenient and versatile for almost any application and size. I am most certainly happy with my Shure wireless transmitter pouch with (2) bands from B&H. Ordering was easy and secure, and shipping was very fast. Overall, very satisfied.
