Built for wide field astrophotography and observation, the Starfield 115mm Triplet APO Refractor OTAfrom Starfield 115mm Triplet APO Refractor OTAis fitted with an extra-low dispersion multicoated triplet lens for true colors and edge-to-edge clarity. The optical tube assembly's focuser is built to handle the weight of cameras, filter wheels, off-axis guiders, etc. with a CNC-machined brass rack and pinion mechanism. The focuser also supports 1.25" and 2" eyepieces for observation and comes with a camera angle adjuster for easy framing. The sturdy handle features a dovetail and holes for mounting accessories. The dew shield retracts for easier transport, and the whole OTA weighs just 15 pounds. Note that a mount and a tripod are required for use and do not come with the OTA.

A: The FCD1 Glass is very very good for photography, not a lot of difference visually though between them.

Q: 3. What would I need to use my existing 2" Optolong filters with this telescope?

A: No other purchase is necessary. It is set up for 2"

Q: 4. What eye piece do i need if i want to connect my cellphone to this? it looks like the eye piece on this is 2 inches wide

A: Either a 2", or 1.26" Eyepiece Size will work. These Smartphone Adapters are fairly universal.

Q: 5. Can this be used as a guidescope with a Celestron RASA8?

A: Yes, there are additional dedicated Dovetail plates for this application, Celestron 8" Accessory Dovetail Bar for 8" RASA OTA B&H # CE8DBRASA8 MFR # 94290

Q: 6. Viewing wise what size Mak-cas would be equal to a 102 mm refractor ?

A: You cant match the field of view (how much of sky you see) with a mak but a mak 130 to 150 would yeld the same viewing resolution

[f/7] I bought this as the last telescope that would mount on my star adventurer, since it's barely past the weight limit of the mount. I've used it a couple times so dare and it has been an absolute pleasure. Not to mention how great it looks! Would absolutely recommend. 5

[Vixen Style] Purchased the ED 102 triplet to expand my “grab and go” astronomy equipment inventory. Have an ED 80 Triplet, which is excellent, and wanted something with a little larger for deep sky photography on the road. Paired with ZWO AM3 ,ZWO ASI2600 Duo and ZWO ASIair Plus is a great working combination. ED 102 has great optics, and I had used a borrowed one in the past with excellent results. Looking forward to some clear nights to put the new ED 102 through its paces. 5

[1.25", 2"] I have had this scope for a few weeks now and the optics are great. I do some visual but usually I do astrophotography using ASI AIR PLUS and a ZWO ASI 183MC camera. The images I get are great and stars are tack sharp with no color bloating or fringing. Files are FITS files and as soon as I figure out how to use a good photo processing program my photos will look better. Only wish the focusing tube was longer so I dont need to ad so many adapters extensions to reach focus, But everyone go's thru that issue.Scope works great with a DSLR also. I am glad I bought it and B&H delivered fast and well packaged. 5

[1.25", 2"] Traded up from an AR102mm to the 102mm FDC100. Fantastic views of jupiter and Saturn. Can easily see the Cassini division. Had my first ever view of the Andromeda Galaxy. I love that I can have everything assembled and one hand it onto my mount. Just waiting on a better camera to try some DSO imaging. B&H customer service has been top notch. 5

[805 mm] I have a Celestron C6R and enjoy that scope as a cheap BIG refractor. This scope with the ED glass is a wonderful upgrade, yes it costs much more than my C6R did but the views are amazing. 5

[f/7] Preliminary review Just received this OTA three days ago. Large focuser is robust, although I do no astrophotography, it appears as though it will support any imaging train with ease. Supplied rings and dovetail plate well-suited for this size scope, but I will get a longer dovetail plate for easier balancing. Sky conditions allowed a brief window to star test it on Polaris. Perfect pattern inside and outside of focus. Will add more in due course... 5

[805 mm] I received this Evostar 72mm ED APO a few weeks ago and I already have taken photos of Andromeda Galaxy that were better than any before. Stars were well shaped and no color fringing noticed at all. Really quality glass lens and the entire unit is well made. Looking forward to buying a larger version later on in the year. B&H is the best. 5
