The Shure SLXD24D/N8S offers two presenters or performers a dual-channel wireless handheld microphone system that's dependable, easy to set up, and features crystal-clear, digital sound quality. Built around a rugged, dual-channel, single rack receiver with removable antennas, the system is ideally suited for portable rigs or long-term installations in small- to medium-sized venues, event spaces, conference rooms, houses of worship, and education facilities.

The SLX-D operates in the G58: 470 to 514 MHz UHF band to transmit high-quality, 24-bit digital audio with over 120 dB of dynamic range for crisp, detailed sound. It utilizes Digital Predictive Switching Diversity to protect the transmission from interference and deliver a solid, reliable RF signal without dropouts.

This configuration includes two SLXD2 handheld transmitters, each featuring an interchangeable microphone capsule design and equipped with a Nexadyne 8/S dynamic supercardioid capsule, featuring an innovative Revonic dual-transducer design that uses two separate, but interdependent sets of diaphragms, voice coils, and magnets. This unique technology gives this dynamic mic a condenser-like clarity with a crisp, yet natural high-end and plenty of detail—allowing vocalists to worry less about mic technique and instead focus on delivering powerful performances. The supercardioid polar pattern delivers tight directionality, high gain before feedback, and enhanced rejection of off-axis sound.

The lightweight metal transmitters feature a selectable 1/10mW RF power output and a transmission range up to 330'. Power is supplied by two AA batteries or an SB903 rechargeable battery (available separately) for up to 8 hours.

The all-metal, rackmount SLXD4D receiver features an intuitive LCD interface with meters for RF, battery status, and audio outputs. It also offers 60 dB of gain control, and both mic/line XLR and 1/4" instrument outputs for each channel. Additional features include automatic frequency scanning and IR sync to easily link the transmitter and receiver to the same frequency.

With up to 32 mic channels available at the same time, the SLX-D is ready to expand as your needs grow. What’s more, setting up multiple systems is made fast and easy via the Ethernet port, which links them together for quick, coordinated frequency scans from a single receiver.

  • With durable aluminum housing, the SLXD2 handheld transmitter offers a lightweight design that's comfortable to hold and features an LCD to show essential information.
  • The 8/S mic capsule in this version of the transmitter features Shure's Nexadyne Revonic system, an innovative dynamic microphone design that uses two matched dynamic transducers, working in conjunction, to provide more opportunity for both greater sound quality and the rejection of unwanted signal.
  • Wiring the transducers out-of-phase cancels mechanical vibration, so self-noise is actively zeroed out. This makes traditional pneumatic shockmounts unnecessary, and allows the transducers to be optimized for acoustic performance.
  • Vocal performers will experience natural and vivid clarity when performing—enabled by a cartridge design that optimizes signal output acoustically, producing more of the desired sound source and less environmental and handling noise.
  • Engineers will receive stronger and clearer output, resulting in fewer EQ corrections that are often necessary with other mics to retain vocal clarity within the mix.
  • The supercardioid polar pattern provides tightly focused audio capture centered on the performer in front of the mic, reducing bleed from other sources for a clearer sound with substantially less feedback issues from on-stage monitors.
  • The transmitter's interchangeable capsule design allows you to choose the ideal capsule for your application. Shure offers a variety of optional dynamic and condenser mic capsules with varying pickup patterns—capsules include the Nexadyne 8/C (cardioid), Beta 87A, SM58, and KSM8.

  • The SLX-D delivers 24-bit digital audio with a fast transient response and over 120 dB of dynamic range—resulting in clear, accurate sound for your events.
  • The system operates in the G58: 470 to 514 MHz UHF band with a 44 MHz tuning range and 1760 selectable frequencies, far away from potential Wi-Fi interference in the 2.4 GHz band.
  • Digital Predictive Switching Diversity uses a microprocessor to switch between the two antennas for the cleanest signal—before dropouts occur.
  • With a low latency of 3.2 ms, the system is ideal for applications that require live sound reinforcement.
  • The SLX-D's spectrum-efficient digital transmission technology allows for up to 32 mics to be used at once.
  • Up to 10 compatible systems per 6 MHz TV band and 12 systems per 8 MHz band are supported.
  • Ethernet networking saves you time with coordinated group scanning between multiple receivers from a single location; TCPI command streams from third-party companies such as AMX and Crestron are also supported.

  • Housed in a tough, single-rack metal chassis with detachable antennas, the SLXD4D dual-channel receiver is a great fit for A/V installations or as part of a portable rackmount rig—ready to travel to a meeting or event.
  • The SLX-D is engineered to provide outstanding sound for small- to medium-sized spaces and facilities—without costly, complicated features required primarily for large venues.
  • Intuitive front-panel controls and a high-contrast LCD screen with audio and RF meters makes set up a snap.
  • The auto-scan function automatically seeks out the cleanest available frequency for you. The receiver and transmitters then easily link to the same frequency via infrared.
  • The receiver offers up to 60 dB of adjustable gain and the display shows you where the ideal levels should be.

  • Adding the SB903 lithium-ion rechargeable battery, along with an SBC10-903 single charger or an SBC203 dual-docking charger, offers a cost-effective and environmentally friendly alternative to throwing away AA batteries (battery and chargers available separately).
  • Using the SB903 battery and SBC203 charger simplifies the task of keeping multiple transmitters charged and ready—you can even recharge the battery while still in the transmitter.
  • When powered by an SB903 battery, each transmitter displays the remaining run time in hours and minutes.

  • Adding UA874 active antennas or PA805SWB passive antennas increases the range of your system and offers increased protection against interference.
  • The UA844+SWB antenna distribution system (available separately) lets you stretch the power of your antenna pairs, giving you more on-air channels in less setup time.

  • Shure offers a bodypack transmitter with a variety of lavalier and headset microphones to adapt your system as your needs evolve.
  • The WL183 (omnidirectional), WL185 (cardioid), and WL184 (supercardioid) lavalier mics offer hands-free presentation options.
  • The miniature WL93 and subminiature MX150 mics are smaller, easy-to-conceal lavaliers.
  • The discreet MX153 subminiature earset mic provides exceptional clarity in spoken word applications.
  • The PGA31 is a comfortable, durable headset microphone for active performance.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can you use 2 units on 2 cameras side by side, with same freq range?

A: Yes, it is possible to use two Sony UWP-D26 Camera-Mount Wireless Combo Microphone Systems that operate on the same frequency band at the same time within 330 feet of each other. Only one transmitter can be used at a time with each receiver. When you are setting up the wireless systems and pairing the transmitters and receivers, each system will automatically pair to a different frequency within the same frequency band.

Q: 2. How many clip-on mics(ME2-II Lavalier) can be used at one time with this receiver?

A: This combo kit allows for one mic to be used: either the handheld transmitter or the lavalier mic with the belt pack tranmitter. Additional lavalier microphones would need a full wireless system, such as the Sennheiser EW 100 G4-ME2 Wireless Omni Lavalier Microphone System (A1: 470 to 516 MHz), BH #SEEW100G4MA1.

Q: 3. Does the hand-held use AA batteries?

A: Yes, the handheld wireless microphone/transmitter included with the Samson Expedition XP312w-K 12" 300W Portable PA System does use two AA batteries.

Q: 4. will the URx P40 work with a UTX-P03 Transmitter?

A: Yes, the Sony URX-P40 Camera-Mount Wireless Receiver from the Sony UWP-D26 Camera-Mount Wireless Combo Microphone System is compatible for use with Sony UTX-P03 Plug-On Transmitters operating on the same frequency range.

Q: 5. Will this be compatible with the older SMAD-P3 MI Shoe adapter or only the newer SMAD-P5 adapter?

A: Yes it will. It's backwards compatible with the older UWP systems as well.

Q: 6. is there something on the device that would make it introduce hiss into the transmission? I recently bought one. Tested it with 2 identical senheiser boom mics requiring 48v phantom. One sounds great, the other has a major hiss. Tried it on several other mics (57s/58s) and nothing. The "bad" mic works 100% when wired.

A: 1. Make sure to scan for the best frequencies to use before every session. 2. Try lowering the gain

Q: 7. Does the UC90 need a FCC license to operate in the US?

A: No, you do not need a license to operate the Sony UWP-D26 Camera-Mount Wireless Combo Microphone System (UC90: 941 to 960 MHz) within the US.

Q: 8. Will it work with the Sony PXW-FS5M2 ?

A: Yes it will.

Q: 9. Is there a limitation on where in the country I can use this wireless set?

A: If referring to use within the United States, the Sony UWP-D26 Camera-Mount Wireless Combo Microphone System (UC25: 536 to 608 MHz) is able to be used throughout. The only limitations may come when attempting to use within privately owned locations, such as a sports venue with specific wireless permissions and coordination.

Q: 10. Will this system work within a studio setting? Will the signal travel through a block wall?

A: You can use the Shure SLXD24D/SM58 Dual-Channel Digital Wireless Handheld Microphone System in a studio setting if you keep the receiver in the same room as the transmitters and run a longer cable from the receiver output to the inputs on the mixer. The signal will not transmit through cinder block walls.

[Battery] These work just fine. Have used them in Manhattan for PA use in panel discussions and the like with no problems. This is notable because of all the RF in the air here. I now have 5 of these units, including 4 lavaliers and 1 handheld. They have all worked fine right out of the box. I have not used them at their full maximum spec. range of 300ft, but 75ft has been no problem, even through one wall. Some have commented that their construction seems flimsy, but in my experience they are built well enough, especially considering their performance at a fraction of the price of other brands. And I have seen several wedding bands that use them exclusively. The fact that these are frequency agile is a big plus, as you can mix mikes and base units within their band (units are fixed to either C or D band in the US), and choose from 16 channels per band. Biggest complaint, by far, is that the foam windscreen is easy to lose, so maybe get some extras - they can be found cheaply enough - or find a way to fix the windscreen to the mike. BTW the replacement plug-in mikes are quite inexpensive, and I've used these quite successfully to replace mikes on Shure SLX body packs.

[Handheld] We decided to go wireless, with a little concern that it may introduce more variables and opportunities for static or dropouts.

After initial success with SLX, I added this, which has beed great success. Love the freedom, strong signal, and full and crisp sound. Sounds better than our quite old wired mics. I was a little concerned if it would pickup stage monitor sound which are right in front of us (wondered if SM58 would be preferable) , but that is no issue whatsoever.

Just added the rechargeable batteries and docking stations and it EVEN BETTER. It provides more precise time estimates of remaining battery power, which are reasonably accurate. A little extra investment but worth the simplicity and ease of keeping everything charged sufficiently.

[2x Handheld] We've been using the BLX models for a while, and they had lots of signal breakup issues and the plastic bodies were falling apart.

These are built like a tank, go much farther with no issues, and the ability to charge them has been a game changer.

[44 MHz] The Shure SLXD mic system is a great upgrade to the older SLX system. The setup is fast with open frequency scans in less than 10 seconds. It's also nice that this unit scans for both mics at once. The mics have a nice professional feel to them. The all metal housing of the mics is a great feature. Battery life is great at over 7.5 hours. Sound is just as good as a wired mic. Very happy with this series.

[Handheld] As a Wedding DJ, I have a console with room for only one 19-inch rack mount mic receiver. I was going to buy two single units, but I didn't want four antennas. I stumbled across the SLX4D4 that's two receivers in one that only uses two antennas... PERFECT! And, it's easy to configure and sounds fantastic!
