Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this fit onto most light stands or just Impact stands?

A: This fixture should fit any standard light stand.I have both multiple Impact stand models as well as Manfrotto light stands, and these fixtures will fit all of them.

Q: 2. Is there a max wattage rating? per socket? total wattage? Are the sockets plastic or ceramic/porcelain? Will it accommodate a mix of different wattage bulbs?

A: No wattage rating is specified. The sockets are plastic. I wouldn't put anything but CFL's in them. The soft box would overheat if you use photo floods..

Q: 3. Is there any way to add a grid to these softboxes?

A: No

Q: 4. Could I use one, two or three Savage 50W LED bulbs (B&H # SA50WLED) in some of the seven fluorescent sockets on this light head? Thank you!

A: While the Savage 50W LED bulbs have the same Edison base as the fluorescent lamps included with this fixture, they have not be tested by the manufacturer as being fully compatible. Your results may vary.

Q: 5. I was thinking of purchasing this to use on location outdoors. What is the most affordable portable power supply that you would recommend to use with this?

A: While a gas-powered generator would most likely be the best option for your needs with continuous lights, if you are looking for a rechargeable battery option for your location shooting needs, I would recommend either the GOAL ZEROYeti 1250 Solar Generator Power PackKit, B&H #GOGZ31901, which should give you approximately 6.6 hours of run time, or the GOAL ZEROYeti 400 Solar Generator Power Pack, B&H #GOGZ23000, should give you approximately slightly over 2 hours run time.

Q: 6. Does it support 105w Eiko Spiral Fluorescent Lamp? Or 85W? Because in your video man says its 50W. Let's make it clear. Or delete video, please.

A: According to the manufacturer, the physical size of the 105 watt lamps only allows for one of those lamps to be used in the one of the sockets at a time. For the physical size of the 85 watt lamp, that limits you to using two of them at a time. Using 50 watt lamps is largest physical lamp that will allow you to use four lamps at once.

Q: 7. will this fixture accept other soft boxes or just the included one?

A: I believe only the included one. It takes a while to set up. Each of the spokes that tent the softbox are inserted through little sleeves down the length of the softbox and then into a hole or cavity in the face of the light fixture. Once fully assembled it's there to stay. This softbox does not collapse like most others. So it continually takes up a great deal of space. It took me several minutes to set it up and I imagine it would take the same to take it down. I bought this as a starter light for my 14 y/o daughter who is just getting into portrait photography. It's great for her and would be a great inexpensive fixture to have laying around a studio. Just know that it will take up some space. I think the photo above showing the softbox off of the light is misleading. I don't think that's possible. as the fixture itself is what gives it it's rigidity.

Q: 8. can i use the 7 socket fixture for bigger octagon such as 150 cm octagon (octagon softbox)??

A: I would say no.Reason is it struggles to put out enough light.Up close it does good, well diffused light but I bought bigger bulbs because I wanted more light from it

Q: 9. do the battties charge via the light when pluged into a power source or need to charge seperately???

A: This fixture does not use batteries. AC power only.

Q: 10. Is there a max wattage rating? per socket? total wattage? Are the sockets plastic or ceramic/porcelain? Will it accommodate a mix of different wattage bulbs?

A: The total wattage the light fixture is rated for is 350 watts in fluorescent bulbs. The sockets are plastic not ceramic.

[1.635 lb] I purchased these for our high school students to use in the studio. The students enjoy them more than the LED panels, they have better output, and seem fairly protected inside the included softbox.

[1.635 lb] Pretty inexpensive to buy but well made. I like how light (weight) it is. Attaching it to the tripod required more force than I initially applied.

[4x E26/E27] It was deal of the day small investment T The light , loaded with 18 w LED par 38 's give’s a wide cool spread, enabling me to do some finicky work on-site in a stage environment with lots of shadows, then pops into my bag along with a collapsible stand I use. I have an “umbrella” reflector… I’ll try it with that next week. It’s not adjustable… you need the stand and an eye for that… but it is simple, basic gear that is exactly what it looks like. Cfls would be more at risk for breakage if you don’t protect them, and LED’s come in warmer temps… higher outputs. This is a good unit. Very “old school” (no dimming just 2 on or 4 on. And no adjustment for color temp except by bulb change) but better than my Dad’s old 8mm rig, because no heat up front, and the lamps last forever.

[4x E26/E27] Used 40 watt(150 equiv) CFL bulbs with color rating of 61. More than enough light to light up a single camera set in front of a window. Colors matched inside and outside through the window. Very pleased
