A: Yes, the Peak Design Everyday v2 Backpacks (20L and 30L) do stand upright on their own. From testing here at the store, we were able to do it most of the time, but if overpacked and not properly weight-distributed it does take a few attempts.

A: Unfortunately, it will depend a lot on the carrier and the specific plane model you are flying in, but based on normal specifications of airline seats (18 x 14 x 8 based on American and Southwest Airlines) this bag is too large for the under the seat area.

Q: 5. Does this work very well as a sling bag?

A: The Peak Design Everyday Backpack v2 does not work as a "sling bag", because their is no access to one's equipment from the sides of the bag. Access is from the top of the bag, or the back of the bag.

Q: 6. I have an Alienware M15 that measures an irregular 14.2"x10.9"x0.8" (360.5x276x19.5mm), which is almost 2" deeper than a 16" MacBook or any other 15.4" laptop, so I am struggling to find a backpack wide enough to accommodate it. Will that fit inside the laptop sleeve of this bag?

A: We tested the Everyday Backpack v2 30L with our testing devices measuring 9-3/4" deep and found there was a little bit more room for something slightly larger, but we don't believe it will take your Alienware M15 at 10.9" deep.

Q: 7. I have a 13 in M1 MBP, and have heard that the new M1 laptops have issues with turning on when in the laptop sleeve due to the magnets in the bag (used to keep the shoulder straps attached). Is this really an issue, or will the M1 MacBooks have no problem with the magnets in the back of the bag?

A: I have not personally heard of these issues, and we pack many with all shapes and sizes of bags. I would fully power off the machine before placing it into the bag however to reduce heat.

A: You will have to check with your airline; however, the standard carry-on size is 22 x 14 x 9". The Peak Design Everyday Backpack v2 (Midnight, 30L) is 24.41 x 14.17 x 7.8". So, it may not be taken as a carry-on for most airlines.
