Utilizing precise, no-backlash, high-torque strain wave gearing, the Sky-Watcher Wave 150i GoTo Mount 33 lb Payloadis a compact but highly capable motorized GoTo mount for your optical tube assembly. The mount weighs just 12.8 pounds but can support a 33-pound payload with no counterweight and 55 pounds with optional counterweights. It is controlled by Sky-Watcher's popular SynScan GoTo hand controller or app on a paired device and is compatible with other controllers such as ASIAir, Eagle, and StellarMate.

The mount holds optical tubes of all sizes on a D/V saddle and operates in alt-azimuth or equatorial tracking modes with RA and Dec home positions and a 0-90° latitude range. A red backlit latitude display and bubble level make setup easier, and an RA brake prevents backsliding if the power goes out.

Track satellites and space stations with the Wave's swift slew rate of 10° per second and the downloadable Satellite Tracker Application for Windows PC found on Sky-Watcher's International Support website.

Whether you're mounting a small wide field refractor, a stocky Maksutov-Cassegrain, a massive astrograph, or a long, glass-heavy triplet, the Wave's adaptive payload capacity and add-ons and accessories ensures compatibility with a wide range of optical tubes and tripods.

The Wave mount easily integrates with Sky-Watcher's SynScan hand controller or SynScan app, allowing users to control their telescopes by hand or wirelessly via smartphone or tablet, as well as through third-party control platforms (ASIAir, Eagle, StellarMate, etc.) enabling access to advanced features like plate solving and automated imaging runs.

Designed for the serious astroimager, the Wave 150i mount features through-mount cabling and a powered hub built into the saddle with ports for autoguiding, Dec USB, and 2 Dec outputs. The RA hub sits at the back of the mount and never moves, keeping all your cabling neat, organized, and safe from snags.

A: 1.75".

Q: 6. Will any portable power bank work with this or does it have to be one of the specific ones shown in the power accessories?

[0 to 90°] This was purchased so that I can take it on an airplane. Light weight. Tracking works very nicely with both the cell phone and iPad. Holds a 10 pound OTA with little difficulty.

[Yes] Was looking for a mount for a grab and go set up. This fits the bill perfectly. I’ve paired it with both a 65 mm and an 80mm refractor and it performs as I had hoped. Set it up, leveled it, aligned it by eye to Polaris and then performed a two star alignment with the phone app. Worked great. Very pleased.

[12 VDC] The Sky-Watcher AZ-GTi has breathed new life into my vintage-1997 Tele Due Pronto. I bought it primarily for its promise of being able to track objects even though it's not equatorial, and it fulfilled that promise and more. It'll hold Saturn in the field of a 3mm eyepiece for several minutes even given my evolving skill at doing alignments through the SyncScan Pro iOS app. And it's GoTo function will put M11 or M13 in the field of my 12mm Nagler (~2 true field). Very neat technology!

[Yes] I liked it so much - I bought two.
Use them in EQ mode with SW wedges.
One - standalone. For wide-field, using DSLR, SynScan app and SkySafari.
The second one - fully computer controlled with Stellarmate/KStars/Ekos on RPI4. Auto-guiding, auto-focus, plate-solving, etc. AT72EDII refractor with ATI294MC Pro camera.
Auto-guiding is not great (especially in DEC) but acceptable - 360s exposures are OK.

[Yes] Handles my Double Stacked 70 mm SolarMax III Coronado scope very well at 11 lbs. payload. Easy to set up... no interference with scope and the tripod legs due to the vertical height extension for the head. The tripod is not plastic... it is a sturdy and light all-aluminum construction for easy transport. I believe the head can be mounted on almost any tripod. My only complaint is the dovetail fastener... it is a screw that puts a dent into the dovetail. The scope has to turned on its side to mount to the head's dovetail slot. So, every time I take the scope out of the foam lined case it comes in, I have to loosen the mounting brackets on the scope to turn it sideways to attach to the head. I don't like the side mount, but it seems sturdy and it works.

[0 to 90°] It works! I use it in EQ mode and as a mobile setup. Very light.
SynScan app is good for controlling it and I would use it for exposures no longer than 30-60 sec. For longer than that I use KStars/Ekos environment where I can do more accurate polar alignment and also auto-guiding. I can get 120-360 sec exposures reliably but not always (my mount has some play/backlash in the DEC axis) - its still great for a mount so light and portable and inexpensive.

[12 VDC] As long as one keeps within the load rating of the mount (11 lb.), this small, lightweight, inexpensive, GoTo mount cant be beat. Alignment is quick and easy. GoTo and tracking (in Alt/Az) is quite accurate. And it can track any object in its extensive data base without even having to align the mount first: just Point and Track - one of the built-in features that make this mount such a joy to use.

The one negative is the tripod that comes with the mount. While it is useable... even satisfactory... if one limits the telescope size (length, weight, and focal length). But it is too flimsy to use with telescopes that approach the mounts upper rating limit of 11 lb. I would have preferred the option of being able to purchase the mount without the tripod.

[0 to 90°] A light weight grab and go mount with an 11lb payload. Very good tracking for an alt az mount. Perfect for EAA.

[Yes] Very easy to carry, setup and aligned. I like the WiFi control with an android cell phone and Syn scan and the possibility to convert it to a Eq with an additional wedge and contra wight . The fact that is a go to and the affordable price makes it a winner for me.
Great service from B&H.

[Yes] I sold my old heavy equatorial mount and was looking for a smaller and lighter AltAz mount. This one is perfect for the small refractor I use for observations. What impresses me most is the ease of alignment. Level the mount, point the scope due north and level the scope to its zero position. You can then use the SynScan Hand Controller to enter time and location coordinates, or you can use the free SynScan Pro app on a cellphone, tablet or laptop and it will enter those parameters automatically. Even a one star alignment is accurate when you turn it on.
