It is directional so you will cut out some surrounding noise but if the club forces you to be quite close you you may overemphasize one performer or instrument and if you are further back you may have audience in front of you defeating your purpose. Also, it won't help with audience noise reflecting back from the stage area.Be aware that you will need to turn off IS or risk picking up noise from the IS motors despite the shock mounting. It is very noticeable and distracting if the IS is on on the 24-105 on my 5D3.I now use a Zoom H6 and sync in post. It has flexibility to position it away from the camera but can be hot-shoe mounted and fed straight to the camera as needed.
