Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will I lose any of the features on my Sony a7r ii? Is it noisy with using AF or Steady shot?

A: This lens has full functionality when using it with the Sony A7R II, including SteadyShot.

Q: 2. Does anyone have experience using the Zeiss Batis 2.8/135 versus the Zeiss Milvus 2/135 on a Nikon? Is the manual focus as good on the Batis? (arc, fine control, etc.) The Batis lens are so much lighter. I am considering switching from D810 to A7r iii and worried if the quality of the Batis is comparable to the Milvus. TY

A: Because the focus on the Batis is fly-by-wire, and proportional to how quickly you move the focussing ring, it takes a couple of days to get used to how it works. Frustrating for sure at first, but in time I find it is very precise and a pleasure to use compared to most other electronically focussed lenses. My experience previously is with Nikon DSLRs and Zeiss ZF.2 lenses (100 f/2 Makro-Planar is the closest to the 135 Batis). The 135 Batis is exceptional on my A7R3.

Q: 3. AF faster than Sony 70-200 f/.2.8 GM?

A: ZEISS does not measure or publish the auto focus speed for the Batis lenses. The best way to determine if the AF speed is fast enough for your needs is to try the lens yourself. B&H Photo has this lens on display or you can rent the lens through a reputable company and judge yourself.

Q: 4. is this product amonia free?

A: Yes they are ammonia free...

Q: 5. How does the sharpness/contrast look wide open?

A: You can review the MTF chart for the ZEISS Batis 2.8/135 at the website below. The MTF data is produced at wide-open aperture and at f/5.6, the setting which produces the maximum contrast and sharpness. You will see the lens produces excellent results at wide-open aperture, which is improved only slightly in the corners when stopped down. a href= https://www.zeiss.com/content/dam/camera-lenses/files/service/download-center/datasheets/batis-lenses/datasheet-zeiss-batis-28135.pdf target= _blank https://www.zeiss.com/content/dam/camera-lenses/files/service/download-center/datasheets/batis-lenses/datasheet-zeiss-batis-28135.pdf/a

Q: 6. WHEN WILL ZEISS BATIS 135 MMS 2.8 BE AVAILABLE FOR ORDERING??

A: You can pre-order the ZEISS Batis 2.8/135 using the link below. The first shipments are scheduled for early May.https://a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1330083-REG/zeiss_2136_695_batis_135mm_f_2_8_lens.html target= _blank www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1330083-REG/zeiss_2136_695_batis_135mm_f_2_8_lens.html/a

Q: 7. Are these safe to use on all coated optics, high end Canon EF Zoom lenses and on UV or other filters filters?

A: I agree with Derek G on this, these wipes are not very damp but do you need to? Normally, you do not have to remove dirt like spaghetti sticked on a plate! It's optic and to my experience, the dirt on a lens can be removed very easily. I will add that you might have to finish the cleaning with a very soft microfibre cloth to get a pristine optic.

Q: 8. How will this lens perform on my Sony A7RII ?

A: This is an incredible lens for for the A7RII! The Batis line of lenses works seamlessly with the A7RII and other newer generations of Sony's mirrorless lineup.

Q: 9. Is this Lens compatible Sony F Nex 100, which is not a DSLR?

A: It is, it's an e mount

Q: 10. Do Zeiss wipes have an expiry date?

A: I contacted ZEISS concerning your inquiry. According to the manufacturer, the ZEISS Lens Wipes (60-Pack) may have an expiration date if one is printed on package. However, they are not aware of a specific expiration for these wipes. They have been used years after purchase and they were still good. They arrive in individually-sealed packaging.

[56 mm] Mounted on my Rem 700 CDL in 7mm-08. Wanted a precise scope in 50-100 yards for shooting turkeys with neck shots. Addresses the requirement. Nice and clear, plenty of light. I am sure it is more than adequate for more distance, but this is what I bought it for. Good eye relief. Totally satisfied.

[56 mm] Mounted on a Winchester model 70 chambered in 270. Nothing in this price point has this kind of clarity.

[Coated] Overall this a very well designed scope. I was somewhat disappointed that it was made in Japan instead of in Germany. My only complaint with this scope is the windage, elevation and parallax turrets. The windage and elevation turrets lack an easily resettable zero feature. The turret cap must be removed in order to set your zero. The parallex turret lacks yardage markings. There are only rectangular shaped markings on the turret cap. When I contacted Zeiss about this their reply was Just change the setting on the parallax turret until the distortion goes away. IMO this is a very poor design for a riflescope that costs $1250.00. I want yardage indicators with numerical values that make the parallax easy to set. I also want easy reset to zero turrets. Set windage an elevation, lift the turret cap and reposition it to the zero indicator on the turret cap. Easy, except at Zeiss. The glass is exceptionally clear and the images are sharp. Other than the Parallax adjustment and windage and elevation turret adjustments, this is a very nice riflescope.

[-35.0 to +2.0] I bought this to go on a 22 magnum rifle. It is very clear and bright. The bullet drop marks are a added bonus and work to adjust impact at extended ranges. They held true for me out to 400 yards. I’m impressed.

[2.8 to 20x] This scope is the best scope I ever owned. It's perfect for long-range target shooting as well as for hunting. Use it on my Winchester 70 Alaskan .375 H&H. It's an outstanding scope and I really like the illumination and reticle.

[30 mm] I added this scope to one of my Ruger 10/22 builds and absolutely love it.

[-35.0 to +2.0] I replaced a Leupold VX3 with this. I like the roughly 10yrds more of field of view at 4 power. The glass is clear from 4x all the way to 16x and the zoom ring is super smooth. The exposed elevation turret seemed a little large at first but is growing on me and is very easy to use/set new 0. Over all I'm very happy with the scope and think it will last many years. Only thing I'd like to see is it come with flip up caps instead of the rubber band caps.

[Coated] Best tracking scope for the money.
It responds well and holds real tight groups while tracking around paper.
