Western Digital's exclusive NASware technology fine tunes drive parameters to match NAS system workloads, which helps increase performance and reliability.

WD Red Pro hard drives are designed to handle the rigorous demands of high-intensity 24/7 multi-user NAS environments and increase system durability.

Western Digital partners with a wide range of NAS system vendors for extensive testing to ensure compatibility with most NAS enclosures.

WD Red Pro drives include Rotation Vibration (RV) sensors that anticipate and proactively counteract disturbances caused by increased vibration. By dispersing excess vibration across the drive chassis, turbulence is minimized, performance is maintained, and drives are protected.

WD Red Pro hard drives include a multi-axis shock sensor to detect subtle shock events and automatically compensate with dynamic fly height technology to further protect the drives in NAS enclosures.

Western Digital stands behind their NAS storage solutions with the assurance of a limited 5-year limited warranty and world-class support services for hassle free data storage.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. what is the model of this drive?

A: The 16TB IronWolf Pro 7200 rpm SATA III 3.5" Internal NAS HDD (CMR) is MFR # ST16000NT001.

Q: 2. whats the actual model number? per WD site 6tb red pro is WD6003FFBX (6TB). but i see WDBRJY0060HNC-WRSN in the title. not clear

A: WDBRJY0060HNC-WRSN is the Retail part number for WD6003FFBX.

Q: 3. If I replace the WD Red NAS 5400 RPM drives in a My Cloud EX2 Ultra with these, how much of a performance difference can I reasonably expect to see?

A: Almost no difference, unless you're using these drives as regular OS drives, where application read/write speed is more critical. If building a NAS I would recommend 5400s, the read speed is fine for streaming, they last longer than 7200s on average, and they're usually cheaper. I got these 7200 at a great price, so it made sense for me at the time.

Q: 4. Whether it is retail packed?

A: Yes, the Seagate 12TB IronWolf Pro 7200 rpm SATA III 3.5" Internal NAS HDD (CMR), B&H # SEST12000NT1, comes in retail packaging.

Q: 5. How many hours are on these used drives?

A: This listing is for a new Seagate 22TB IronWolf Pro 7200 rpm SATA III 3.5" Internal NAS HDD. All of the items on our site are new unless marked otherwise.

Q: 6. will it be compatible with Synology DS415Play?

A: This HDD is compatible with Synology enclosures.

Q: 7. So the price difference between the OEM and Retail versions is only for the box?

A: The price difference of a OEM and the retail version is just going to be for the box. You either receive the full item in it's retail box or just the drive itself.

Q: 8. Would these work in the DS1520+?

A: Yes, this WD 12TB Red Pro 7200 rpm SATA III 3.5" Internal NAS HDD (Retail), would work with the DS1520+.

Q: 9. what is the Difference between Retail and OEM?

A: OEM hardware and software are packaged for distribution to companies who build systems. OEM come in packaging units and they don't come in a retail box, that allows the price to be cheaper. They're also for customers that know how to build and install the drives without needing support. So you don't get customer support from the manufacture or technical support.

Q: 10. The Heading is for 48TB, but the Overview says "the 24TB IronWolf Pro 7200". Could you please check?

A: The Seagate IRONWLF PRO 48TB 3.5" 7200RPM SATA HDD, B&H # SEST24000N2K, is a kit that includes two Seagate 24TB IronWolf Pro 7200 rpm SATA III 3.5" Internal NAS HDDs, B&H # SEST24000NT2.

[7.8 x 5 x 2.6"] Price actually worked out cheaper than buying externals. Seems to have a smoother startup sound than those as well.

[1.735 lb] I bought 2 of these drives, and both arrived well packed and in good condition. They went into my OWC Thunderbay 4 enclosure and are performing well. They don't make a lot of noise - the only noise is from the fan of the enclosure. They don't come formatted for Mac computers, so I had to initialize them.

[1.735 lb] Using 2 of these in a mirror in a TrueNAS Mini-R. Excellent retail packaging and shipping. Excellent service.

[12 VDC at 2 A] I take photos... thousands of photos... and store on external HDDs. I then edit photos on my Mac mini with a HDD connected by USB-C. I've tried many HDDs in Oyen Digital Novus enclosures and all with mixed results... until the WD Red Pro. It's lightning fast, responsive, silent, and the answer to my needs. I highly recommend the WD 6TB Red Pro.

[12 VDC at 2 A] Purchased 4 x 18tb this time, one failed the moment that power was applied. This is the first time that I've had a WD Red Pro drive fail in any density or configuration.

Received a quick easy replacement from BH that certified clean just like the other three drives.
It is concerning that so many seem to be failing, but I have various WD Red Pro drives (6tb - 20tb) in 12 x 4 drive RAID5 configurations that run 24 x 7. Keep an extra drive on hand for each array. So far, over 10 years with just the one failure.
Reading reviews of other brands, it seems that they all have problems.
I'll keep using WD Red Pros for the foreseeable future. They have performed extremely well in my applications.

[7.8 x 5 x 2.6"] Popped it out of the box, installed and boom, it worked perfectly the first time. Whew! I am a novice user so it sure made me breathe a bit easier.
