The Ewa-Marine U-B 100 Underwater Housing for Pro DSLRfrom Ewa-Marine U-B 100 Underwater Housing for Pro DSLRis a waterproof enclosure enabling you to shoot beneath the surface with your pro DSLR, such as the Canon EOS 1D X or 5D Mark III, or the Nikon D4 or D3. It will also accommodate a different camera of similar size. The U-B 100 is a modified version of Ewa's U-B housing, with a wider lens port to allow for the use of lenses with larger diameters. It has a depth rating of 65.6' and a corrosion-resistant clamping rail seal.

The housing includes Ewa's Tripod Connector with Mounting Plate and their Cable Exit. The tripod mount has an anodized aluminum plate with both a 1/4"-20 and a 3/8"-16 screw threads and a quick-release head. The cable exit allows you to run up to 4 cables out of the housing and still safely dive. Each cable can have a maximum diameter of 4 mm.

Easy access to virtually all camera controls is provided right through the thin, flexible, double-laminated PVC housing body, which is clear to allow you to monitor the watertight seal and maintain a full view of the camera. The integrated, optically neutral flat glass port accommodates lenses with internal focus mechanisms only and is especially designed for wide-angle lenses. The supplied CA-77 adapter is compatible with lenses that have 77mm filter thread diameters, and fixes the front element of the camera's lens to the interior of the port to hold it in place. The optional CA-82 adapter enables the use of lenses with 82mm threads, and optional step-up or step-down rings can be screwed on to accommodate lenses with different thread sizes.

The U-B 100 is supplied in a handy yellow carrying case with a waterproof interior. Also provided are an initial supply of CD5 drying agent to absorb moisture/condensation and enough foam padding to take up any empty space when shooting above water. Below the surface, the water pressure will compress the housing, eliminating excess space. However, you should still keep the foam padding inside and blow additional air into the housing via the valve at the rear, to ensure that there is enough interior pressure to withstand the exterior water pressure.

You can use the camera's built-in flash in the housing, either by itself or as a trigger for an optional, external wireless slave flash, which will provide better illumination.

[65.6' / 20 m] This is a really great housing. I have been using it for surf photography. The housings made for surf photography can run you a couple of thousand, minimum, so this one is an awesome way to get started! It's a bit tricky without being able to test the settings and the lens port requires some cropping in post when using wide angle lenses. Totally worth it though!

[65.6' / 20 m] Here is the most important thing you will need to know... IT WORKS! Putting your 5D Mark III into a body of water with a $2500 dollar lens and a flash does not feel natural in any way the first time you ease it into the water. But life is life and if it was going to leak I was going to find out the hard way, It did not leak. Humidity packets that came with it got rid of fog. The only tricky thing is that you really need to dial in your settings before getting in there, or use it on full auto. I shoot in Pools in Manual and it worked fine with a bit of going back and adjusting settings again. Direct flash looks terrible underwater as it does above water, so I am still not sure I will use flash again for my underwater needs. Great thing is I can turn flash on and off through the housing anyways so, not a big deal to have there just in case. The plastic does warp your lcd image and makes it look cloudy, the first time I thought everything looked terrible until I took it out of the thick plastic housing. Bottom line, this works, and the company that makes it guarantees your gear in case of manufacturing failure. KEEP YOUR RECEIPT!

[65.6' / 20 m] This really is an amazing housing for the price. The first one I had I used I actually found in the basement at my parents house. It had been sitting there for 10+ years and I did a leak test, still worked, and I used it to do surf photography for the first time. It did eventually split open at the side, but I did catch it before going in the water. It lasted a good 6 months which was amazing because it was at least 10 years old. So I bought another one! I loved the second one for a long time and my mistake was leaving it in the car in the heat :-( It shrunk because it got too hot in my trunk, then when I put the camera in it, the housing was soft and the side split open. My fault here for sure. So I bought another one, hahahaha :-) Moral of the story here is to just continuously do water checks for your housing, it is soft housing so just be aware of not leaving it in your car for a day when you aren't using it, but this has been such an amazing an affordable option for me until I can buy a proper water housing. The only downside is it is too hard to change the settings once the camera is in the housing. So I use masking tape to keep my lens set at infinity, then I set my aperture and shutter speed depending on the light, sometimes auto if it's one of those days, and then just go for it! I have taken some amazing photos and love love love how much I've learned to get creative with my settings because of the restriction of being able to change it in the moment :-) It gets 5 stars because for a tenth of the price I get to create amazing photos and enjoy surf photography! I don't have to wait to spend 2500+ on a housing to do what I want :-) And as with any type of water housing, there is always a risk of ruining your camera. I already lost one camera to the sea :-) But the joy of ocean photography is so worth it so I'm willing to jump into the possibility of doing it again! I hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine!

[65.6' / 20 m] My canoe I was riding on capsized before I had this product. Needless to say, my expensive DSLR and lens were damaged beyond repair. Bought this product to protect against water spray, dust, and overall protection from elements - and yes, from possible capsizing. It worked for the purpose intended. Will test it on shallow dive when opportunity arises. No leaks or moisture problems. However, it's tough but it's still plastic. So, you want to protect it from pokes and scratches or you just threw away almost $$.

[65.6' / 20 m] Keeping in mind, that I would have needed two seperate housings for my EOS 5D and EOS 7D if I had opted for a hard housing.... I would have spent about 10x as much or more! And would have ended up with the same photographic results....

[1.1 lb / 0.5 kg] I went diving for the first time and bought this housing to take my Canon T3i underwater with me. I only dove 7 meters/21 feet, but it worked perfectly fine for me. No leaks or moisture inside at all and it fit my Canon 10-22mm EF-S lens perfectly. There was plenty of room for the flash too. I couldn't really change settings underwater while diving, although I could in the housing above water. I was hoping to switch to movie mode at some point, but wasn't able to. In reality, I don't think I would have been able to hold it straight in front of me steady enough while diving in order to do video anyway. That's probably just because I have no diving experience though. I set it to A+ (scene intelligent auto) mode for the underwater shots so I wouldn't have to change any manual settings. I had to let almost all of the air out in order to get it below the surface of the water, even with the lead weight in the case. Since it wasn't a deep dive, I didn't have any problems with the housing shrinking around the camera at all.I was able to take some photos that I'm really happy with underwater and even above water. The glass doesn't seem to blur the image at all EXCEPT for when you're above water and have water drops on the glass. I also used this case while kayaking in the rain and those shots are blurry.

[65.6' / 20 m] This waterproof case is dirt-simple, rugged, and relatively inexpensive. Our old Sony is a bit dated, but still a pretty good camera. Now that we have a new Nikon, I'll risk the old Sony for snorkeling duty in Central America this spring.

[1.1 lb / 0.5 kg] Loved the shots - it was easier to preset many of the controls first - no problems on vacation reef dive -way cheaper than a hard housing - flexible but has a glass lens port.

[65.6' / 20 m] For the price, it is great. You do need weighs for it if you want to go deeper than arms length. It is not easy to adjust focus or iris but it is possible between shots through the finger inserts.
