The 3-stop, 52mm Kase KW Revolution Magnetic ND Filter 52mm 3-Stopfrom Kase KW Revolution Magnetic ND Filter 52mm 3-Stopis part of the color-coded KW Revolution filter system, which is based on the earlier Wolverine series design and is fully compatible with Wolverine filters. The overall KW Revolution system features CPL and different grades of ND filters, including color-coded filter frames for easy identification and swapping. The ND8 filters, including this 52mm version are color-coded blue.

Increasing neutral density offers finer control in available shutter speeds or aperture settings for both still and video applications. Using a slower shutter speed makes it possible to increase blur to convey a sense of movement. Increasing density also makes it possible to shoot using shallower lens apertures, helping to isolate a subject from the background and increase bokeh. This level of image control can help to create more cinematic effects in low to bright light.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I noticed in the overview it says the close-up lens as compatible with EF 50mm f/2.5 Compact Macro, is it also compatible with Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II?

A: Yes, this close-up filter can be used on any lens with a 52mm filter thread. The Canon 50mm f1.8 II lens has a 52mm sized filter thread so you could use them together.

Q: 2. Hi! I have a question for you. Might I use the lens rim protector at the same time with my lens hood? I want to purchase it, to use with my Sigma 35mm f/1.4 DG HSM ART

A: The two can not be used at the same time.

Q: 3. Will this lens will work on a Nikon. I've got a Nikon D3000 with the kit AF-s Nikkor 55-200mm lens.

A: Yes, this close-up filter will fit on your Nikon 55-200mm lens. Filters are not brand specific, but rather lens specific. This filter is 52mm in size and can be used on any lens with a 52mm sized filter thread, including your Nikon 55-200mm lens.

Q: 4. Will this work with Nikon 300mm PF VR f4 and Nikon D7200 DSLR ?

A: The Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 300mm f/4E PF ED VR Lens has 77 mm filter thread so the Canon 52mm 250D Close-up Lens will not be compatible.

Q: 5. Will this lens work with an EF-S24/2.8 STM lens? I know it will fit, but will it be useful?

A: In a Ken Rockwell review, (I can't link to it but you can find it when you search for your lens and 250D)he states, Canon also cautions not to use close-up lenses, since they weigh enough to mess up the focus system. You may want to use a longer focal length lens with the 250D

Q: 6. How many dipters is this 250 D close up lens ?

A: The Canon 52mm 250D Close-up Lens is a +4 diopter.

Q: 7. Will this bag fit an assembled Sony FS7?

A: Yes, The Cinebags CB25 would fit the FS7. Other bag options you could consider that work the FS7 are B&H # PORIGFS7BKX and B&H # OR25

Q: 8. Will this fit a 24-50mm lens?

A: The Nikon 24-50mm f3.3-4.5D lens uses a 62mm sized lens cap/filter size and therefore this cap would be too small.

Q: 9. will this bag fit a ursa mini 12k?

A: Yes, the CineBags CB25 can hold the Blackmagic Design URSA Mini Pro 12K.

Q: 10. Would it fit my Nikon D7000 58-55 lens?

A: I'm going to assume you are speaking about 2 different lenses? if so, the nikon 58mm takes a 72mm filter, so, no this would not work. the 55mm lens on the other hand takes a 52mm filter, so this cap should work.

[52 mm] I RARELY write reviews on B&H and I'm picking up items biweekly. But I must say I love the ND Kit. The magnet helps make take off the ND filter when I move from outdoors to indoors which is very useful. Also, the cap stay on magnetically too. I variable ND looks great in sunny weather so you can open up the aperture wide and get great bokeh. A great investment. I took them to Niagara Falls and got great footage and pics with my S5IIX.The case is also a great addition. I got them for my sigma 24-70mm art lens. I plan on purchasing a 67mm kit for my Lumix 35mm and 50mm l-mount lens.

[Glass] I really like this filter system. My use case is landscape photography, especially with water. I makes it extremely easy to add and stack ND filters to taste for a scene. I can have one set of filters and then magnetic rings and magnetic adapters to use on multiple lenses. I am happy with the purchase.

One negative is the case that comes with it. It has plenty of slots (extras to add more filters), however the closure is not very secure. The closure is magnetic but takes some fiddling to line up, and I do not feel confident in it. Not a show stopper, but certainly something that could be improved on.

[Aluminum] The Kase Magnetic filter kit is well made, easy to use on location, and fast for filter changes.
I have used screw on filters for years and this is a real improvement. I highly recommend this product.

[Glass] I finally bit the bullet and purchased a set of filters for my largest diameter lens (112mm for the Nikon Z 14-24 f2.8). This kit works perfectly with the lens. It has an inset magnetic ring that screws into the hood of the Nikon Z 14-24. That hood also fits on the Nikon Z 70-200 f2.8. I bought the 77-112mm Kase magnetic step-up ring in order to use this set of filters with my other lenses.

I like the ease of adding and removing the filters afforded by the magnetic system. I've had zero problems with filters accidentally coming off.

I also like the image quality I get with this set of filters.

[52 mm] First time using the Kase magnetic filter system. Used this ND on a trip, and being able to instantly add/remove it from my lens was fantastic. Filter itself worked well without a noticeable color cast. Plan on adding other ND strengths to my kit.

[Aluminum] I've added these adapter rings (inset version) to all of my lenses making the system fast when changing lenses.

*Warning* This inlaid ring 'may' drop down below the threaded section of your lens making it unusable and it's a little difficult to retrieve. Found this with my Canon RF100-500mm L lens. I replaced this inlaid ring with the standard Kase magnetic ring adapter and it's perfect. Stopping installation of the inlaid ring at the edge of the lens body will of course prevent this, but it's not very secure.
