Western Digital's exclusive NASware technology fine tunes drive parameters to match NAS system workloads, which helps increase performance and reliability.

Since your NAS system is always on, a reliable drive is essential. WD Red Plus hard drives are designed for systems that operate 24/7, giving users the confidence of knowing they can reliably access their data.

Western Digital partners with a wide range of NAS system vendors for extensive testing to ensure compatibility with most NAS enclosures.

WD Red Plus drives are engineered to use less power (versus previous models) and run cooler, which reduces operating costs and helps reduce heat in thermally challenged NAS boxes.

Despite using less power, the drives have plenty of bandwidth to handle the mixed performance demands of multi-drive NAS systems.

Hard drives that are not properly balanced may cause excessive vibration and noise in multi-drive systems, which could reduce hard drive life span and degrade the performance over time. WD's enhanced dual-plane balance control technology significantly improves balance and increases overall drive performance and reliability.

Western Digital stands behind their NAS storage solutions with the assurance of a limited 3-year limited warranty and world-class support services for hassle-free data storage.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will these work in a Drobo 8D?

A: According to the specifications from Drobo, the maximum volume size for the Drobo 8D is 128TB. This would mean that, theoretically, each bay could support up to 16TB. However, we wouldn’t be able to guarantee a drive like the WD 20TB Red Pro 7200 rpm SATA III 3.5" Internal NAS HDD, B&H # WE201KFGXSPB, would work with the Drobo 8D and give you the full 20TB capacity.

Q: 2. Why is it cheaper to purchase the drives separate than to buy the bundle of 8?

A: It depends on the scenario. Sometimes, the manufacturer offers a discount on 1 drive alone (1 per customer).

Q: 3. what is a 4tb model number?

A: The model number for the WD 4TB Red Plus 5400 rpm SATA III 3.5" Internal NAS HDD (BH #WE40EFPXSPC6) is WD40EFPX-SPC6CN0.

Q: 4. Are these CMR drives?

A: Yes, this Synology 16TB HAT3310 Plus Series SATA III 3.5" Internal NAS HDD is CMR.

Q: 5. Are these new drives CMR or SMR? Thanks

A: The WD 8TB Red Plus 5640 rpm SATA III 3.5" Internal NAS HDD is a CMR drive.

Q: 6. Is this working with Synology NAS DS1522+?

A: Yes, the Toshiba 16TB N300 NAS 3.5" CMR Internal Hard Drive should work with the Synology DiskStation DS1522+ 5-Bay NAS Enclosure.

Q: 7. I have old PC based on Asus P5B deluxe. Will 12TB WD120EFBX with this MB. if not, what is the largest EFBX I can use?

A: The Asus P5B Deluxe has SATA ports, so modern drives such as the WD 14TB WD140EFGX Red Plus SATA III 3.5" Internal NAS HDD will be backward compatible with it. However, you will not be able to achieve full speeds with modern drives as there is a substantial spec difference between SATA and SATA III.

Q: 8. Is this hard drive compatible with the iMac 24 inch early 2009 model?

A: Yes it is compatible.

Q: 9. will they work on a synology DS923+ two bay nas ?

A: The WD 12TB WD120EFBX Red Plus SATA III 3.5" Internal NAS HDD (CMR, Retail) BH #WEDBC9V012H1 can be used in a DS923+.

Q: 10. Is this compatible with synology DS115?

[70 G / 2.0 ms] This drive is to replace a 1TB which has given me great service, but I needed larger. Hope this lasts as long.

[1.235 lb] As per the subject; they work as advertised. I purchased a set of 4 as a capacity upgrade to my NAS. The WD Red+ 8TB drives have the capacity I need, and have a bit lower power consumption than some of the others. The upgrade went smoothly, one drive at a time of course. No surprises is good when it comes to storage.

[70 G / 2.0 ms] Western Digital drives are always my go-to. Performance is always top notch and they run quiet. I have 5 drives in an NAS box and I can’t hear them at all.

[12 VDC at 1.2 A] I have used Western Digital all my computer life, I am blessed to not have experienced other companies problem making! I hear from friends, relatives and common conversation what it is like with these drive manufacturers. I tell you the truth you cannot do better than Western Digital thy quality is there in everything they make or your money back. If you are aloof then you can follow directions and figure out what does ail thy drive usually some unknown factor in your build is straining thy drive beyond tolerance if they fail however they are honest, you can get a refund, replacement or tech support.

[12 VDC at 1.2 A] These disks have always worked well for me I use them in all my Synology Stations, Easy to swap out when necessary. They are 100% compatible with Synology Disk Stations and that's why I use them. Remember for Raid you want fast Drives 7500RPM works well.

[12 VDC at 1.2 A] I bought three of these to use in my Synology NAS Disk Station 1517+ to run in Raid Configuration for the purpose of backing up my 5 office computers and my new NAS DS1722+ daily at 4:00 AM. I am using the Synology software program called, Active Backup for Business. This will allow me to do a bare metal restore if any of my backed up units have a catastrophic hard drive failure. The drives are eerily quiet, running cool and just doing their job. My prior 2011 WD Enterprise Series drives were running fine after 95,000 + hours but just did not have enough storage capacity to accommodate my current backup needs. Reasonable price and prompt damage-free shipping too.
