Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. has anyone used this tripod w/ canon mark iii and telephoto lens and came across weight issues? thanks!

A: Yes with a Mark ii a 70-200 and a 400 with no problems whatsoever. It is a very sturdy tripod!

Q: 2. Is there a trick to locking down the legs? One of the legs does not stay locked down and slides when camera is attached

A: You shouldn't have to send it back. You will see a hex head screw when looking at the locking tab. Try tightening that until it remedies the problem. (Your tripod should have come with a set of hex wrenches.) Those tabs are adjustable and will allow you to change the pressure required for locking the legs using that adjusting screw.Note: There are hex head screws opposite the locking tab. Don't adjust those as they won't affect the leg locking.

Q: 3. I have this tripod and am looking to get into video. Can you recommend a fluid head to use as a replacement head?

Q: 4. if legs = 28 oz and head = 7.2 oz where is weight of the center column? Does the 28 oz value include center column?

A: The center column is a part of the tripod, so its weight is included in the tripod weight.

Q: 5. Is the flip lock metal or plastic?

A: The flip lock is plastic and the hardware surrounding it is metal.

Q: 6. What is the weight of the ball head and tripod legs separately?

A: Legs 28oz/ 1.77 LBS Head 7.2oz total

Q: 7. Can the ball head be upgraded to the Sirui K20?

A: Yes, you are able to switch out the ball head on the Sirui ET-2204.

Q: 8. Is the ball head interchangeable?

A: Yes it is interchangeable

Q: 9. Are the legs non-rotating so that all twist locks on one leg can be opened at once?

A: Yes, all of the twist locks of each leg can be loosened at once.

Q: 10. Is this head Arca compatible?

[Fluid Head] Nice and lite and just the right height

[Yes] I use this tripod for photo and video and with the ball AND fluid head, it meets all the needs I have for both. The build quality is excellent and about what you'd expect from a $350 tripod, maybe a bit better. It's very versatile for both photo and video. The only drawback is the weight. It's heavy. Which also makes for another drawback, it's also somehow not heavy enough. It's purely middle of the road on both. It is, however, incredibly sturdy and hasn't failed any task I've thrown at it. If I need more weight, I throw a bag on and it's fine. The fluid head is very smooth throughout its entire range of motion and both heads are easy to set up and use. It's an incredible value for the price. With both the ball and heads, and the tripod itself, you'll be hard pressed to find a similar package for the price. I priced out what everything would have cost on its own, for Siriu and other brands, and this or a similar set up would have cost at least $500+.

[6.07 lb] Great tripod very light yet strong and it was already put to test on the beach. Very easy to clean and the ball head is smooth.

[Yes] Its a super convenient solid tripod. It's the perfect weight which makes it easily portable. It comes with a nice quality bag to carry it in and travel with. It reaches a very decent height, I am 5'11 and it goes well above my head. The quality is sturdy and its very easy to deploy all legs at full length.

[Yes] As it stands, this is my go-to tripod for the moment. I have some larger tripods for indoor work, and they are very nice, and irreplaceable. But this little guy is SO handy! I have re-purposed my old BMPCC OG with a few small light lenses (including the incredible and incredibly cheap 25mm PIXCO CCTV with a VND in front) for long walks in the woods. I pop the camera, some wee batteries, and the lenses in a cheap shoulder bag, slip one leg of this tripod through the webbing on the side, and I'm ready to go. Only a few pounds total.
However, it will take the weight of the BMPCC 6K as well, with a cage and a battery sled, as long as the camera is still.

People are right to point out that this tripod is not for moving your camera around much. It can pan fairly smoothly, and tilt if you are careful, but not with any weight on it. If you are planning camera movement, use another tripod. But for locked off shots, this one can't be beat.
As I say, I use this tripod almost every day for nice long walks. If I see something I like, I can set it up in seconds. I am loving the shots I am getting with my old camera and new super-light tripod. It has brought me new inspiration.

[Yes] This tripod is very easy and quick to set up, and it is quite sturdy. I often flip the center column and that is super easy and quick as well. I am currently using a Colorado Tripod Aspen Ballhead and I couldn't be happier with this combination.

[Yes] Dont get the ST - 124 series because is fairly bigger than this.
This one if I take the video head out will have the same footprint as a water bottle something that the peak design advertises at the $600 price tag with lack of compatibility for video heads and photo heads. I don't write much reviews but this one is warranted as there are severals Sirui ST series similar but this one takes the cake. This gets 5 stars for reliability, portability, lightest weight of its class, and its video head is enough for anything I need. This should be your first travel tripod no other. it has a center column as well some reviews on YouTube say they dont but they are wrong. Dont go Peak Design. Thanks! :)

[4] Although this is the most expensive tripod I own, all my others have plastic heads, I can't really rate it in regard to the high quality (expensive) units. But, for $200 it seems to be a GREAT deal. It will take some getting used to due to all of the levers and buttons but I'm looking forward to taking it out in the field in a couple of months.

I'll be mounting my binoculars on it for hunting thus size and weight are the most important to me. It weighs about 3-1/2 pounds which is at the top end of what I want to carry, but it is also short enough that it will fit in my daypack.

Like I said, it's a great value for the money.
