Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. A spotmeter (reflected) workflow question based on speed and ease-of-use: does pushing the S/A/H button immediately give you a calculated reading, S or A or H, depending on what you had last requested (S or A or H) before taking new readings, without needing to use the Up/Down Dial? And so the Up/Down Dial is ONLY necessary when changing from A to S or A to H or S to H, etc.(?) So if you always want, let’s say, Shadow calculations, the function can be left at S and pushing the S/A/H button will always IMMEDIATELY give one the Shadow calculation without ever touching the Up/Down Dial.(?) Thanks.

A: I contacted the manufacturer concerning your inquiry. According to Kenko, yes, the workflow you describe above would work with the Kenko KFM-2200 Cine & Flash Meter.

Q: 2. what is the tripod leg length, and tripod maximum diameter?

A: Each of the tripod legs is approximately 14-inches long, with a total footprint of about 28-inches..

Q: 3. What's the difference between this and the K&M 210/9?

A: The K&M 252 Microphone Stand with Boom Arm (Black) features a 3-section telescoping shaft, while the 210/9 has only a 2-section shaft. The 210/9 is also slightly taller at max height.

Q: 4. How wide is are the tripod legs when extended? (i.e., how much floor space does this take up?)

A: According to Latch Lake web page: Tripod Base Our patent pending Symmetric Torque Tripod base features all new folding solid core legs giving you the distinctive stability all micKings are known for with a portable touch. This base enables a breakdown size of just under three feet. That's all I could find, you may want to call them: Latch Lake phone #: 1-800-428-2437

Q: 5. Is the threaded connection on top 5/8" ? Didn't see it listed on the product page.

A: Yes; 5/8" thread is industry standard for mic stands. While thread is not listed in the info, the thread is shown in the picture at top.

Q: 6. Is the weight correct for this stand? It currently says 12.1 lbs, but the package weight is much less.

A: According to K&M, the mic stand weighs 12.159 lbs.

Q: 7. Does this boom come with counter weight ? If so, what type ?

A: The LATCH LAKE RB2200 micKing RetroBoom Telescoping Boom Arm features a 7 LBS counterweight.

Q: 8. Does this include the mic stand shown in the pic or just the round base?

A: The On-Stage MS7201B will ship complete as shown in the photo.

Q: 9. Clutch adjustment procedure

A: The unique Soft-Touch one-hand clutch allows the height to be adjusted with a quick squeeze, to easily raise and lower the mic

Q: 10. when mini boom is attached the weight of it keep pushing the stand down?

A: It may be too much weight for the clutch mechanism. I would not recommend using a boom arm with this type of stand.

[Straight Stand] This mic stand is heavy but it feels like it will last forever! We bought a couple earlier this year and just added a few more to the studio because of how reliable and sturdy they are. They seem to be able to hold just about any sort of mic or piece of equipment we've tried putting on it with no question it would remain stable and strong. Highly recommend, especially for permanent setups!

[Black] This stand is just at a completely different level of polish than any other I've used. The clamping mechanisms are intense and solid - and highly adjustable - and the base ensures that it feels really secure. My only issue so far is getting a feel for how tight to adjust the various clamps, since I don't want to overtighten anything. But having used this stand, I don't know how I would go back to anything else...

[35.8 lb] This boom stand is super stable, very adjustable, sturdy, solid, well built and yes, it will collapse down to a more convenient package for travel when compared to other large studio mic stands.
I was really tired of using boom mics on stages when they are required to reach to their fullest extension, because, you know, they get knocked over, even when folks are careful. So I have a pile of sand bags to keep the Atlas and K&M boom stands stable. But what about the vocal mic for the pianist at the grand piano?---there are not many boom stand options that can actually reach the vocalist who is playing piano and at the same time get the heck out of the way. The Latch Lake MicKing 1100 sure can.
This is a mic stand you acquire for an entire career. It is everything you wish your other boom stands would be, and there are a lot of other nice boom stands, but this one is better.
Caveat: it is heavy. A big full of these? Ummm... not so much. Do not expect to easily travel with more than a couple of the MicKing 1100 stands. These should be used in tandem with a variety of other more light weight stands for on stage, reserving the 1100 for special tasks, like drum over head, vocal mic for a pianist, for use of a larger, heavy microphone and that sort of thing.
And yes, absolutely yes, the MicKing 1100 is an excellent studio choice as well. In fact, for my preference, this style mic stand is better than the large studio stands with wheels.
