The Interview PRO ships with full compatibility with the entire range of RØDE Series IV wireless receivers, right out of the box. This includes the Wireless ME, Wireless GO II, Wireless PRO, RØDECaster Pro II, RØDECaster Duo, and more.

The internal recorder supports up to 40 hours of recording (32GB internal storage) and up to 32-bit floating point / 48 kHz recording resolutions. With 32-bit float, you get massive headroom to ensure the virtual elimination of any clipping that could occur. And with a special design that reduces handling noise, you will get pristine clean recordings whether recording internally or with a receiver.

GainAssist utilizes intelligent algorithms that automatically monitor the incoming audio and control your volume levels on the fly, ensuring your audio is perfectly balanced during recordings. If the sound suddenly gets louder, GainAssist will compensate and bring the audio level down for you.

If it is quieter, it will bring the audio level up. This ensures that your audio is smooth and balanced and helps prevent clipping in your recording because any audio peaks that might have overloaded your input will be reduced.

When using receivers equipped with timecode support, such as the RØDE Wireless PRO, the Interview PRO will deliver full timecode info with your audio signals, ideal for professional broadcast and audio-for-video applications.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Do I need the adapter part to use for the Zoom H1

A: Yes, you're going to need the trrs to trs adaptor.

Q: 2. The Rode Rec App is not available in Canada. Is there another app that I should use that can lower the db?

A: You would be able to use the Rode Reporter app. With this Rode smartLav+ Lavalier Condenser Microphone Kit with SC3 3.5mm TRRS to TRS Adapter

Q: 3. The question isn't why are 2 mics more expensive than 1, it is why is there a $100 premium over buying 2 separately. Is it because they are 'matched'?

A: The difference in cost between purchasing two Rode NT55 Compact Condenser Microphones with Interchangeable Capsules as opposed to the Matched Pair item can indeed be credited to the fact that the pair is matched, making them more ideal for recording as a stereo pair.

Q: 4. Can this be used with a regular recorder (with a 1/8 microphone jack) instead of a smartphone (i.e. Olympus Ws-852)?

A: It does with the Rhode adapter. Also, this mic requires power. It did not work immediately with my digital recorder, which is a Roland R-05, as I expected. Upon further examination I realized there was a setting to send power to the mic and it worked like a charm.

Q: 5. Would this be compatible with a TMobile ZTE ZMax?

A: This phone is not listed by RODE to be compatible.

Q: 6. Is there gain control on this product?

A: There is a gain control in the app, not on the microphone. The free Rode app works fine depending on your level and number of recording. Just record a few test recordings, adjust and listen to find that sweet spot.

Q: 7. Can you monitor the recording via Bluetooth headphones connected to the phone? Particularly iPhones, but any insight is welcome.

A: You would need the Rode SC6 to be able to monitor your recording while using the Rode Smartlav in a smartphone.

Q: 8. Can you connect this directly to a ZV 1 microphone jack? Or do you have to use it with a Rode Go? For desktop recording where the camera is right in front of me.

A: Yes you can use it with the Sony ZV1 but you will need this adapter as well to change mic from phone connection to camera connection, link below https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1048150-REG/rode_sc3_trrs_to_trs_adaptor.html?sts=pi&pim=Y

Q: 9. Plug in power

A: All you need to do is plug the mic into the headphone jack. The mic needs no other power.

Q: 10. Why is the matched pairs expensive than the single Nt55?

A: The matched pair comes with 2 microphones. The single NT55 comes with 1 microphone.

[20 Hz to 20 kHz] WOW! I'm using a Sony PCM-D100 stereo field recorder which has it all excepting dedicated balance XLR inputs. It does however have a 3.5mm PCR input and after a lot of research and aided by the really knowledgeable audio gurus at B & H, was able to determine that the Rode NT4 would prove to be an excellent match and after trying it, am astounded by the recordings I am experiencing!

[Yes] This microphone is more professional than i am. The first use, I can hear noticeable better clarity then the Azden mic I have been using. Don't get me wrong, for the money the Azden mic is great, and I still use it. I record and video amateur live music videos with a Zoom F4 and with this mic I am excited about the quality of sound I should be able to obtain with this equipment.

[48 kHz / 32-Bit] I'm using this microphone for podcasts and screencasts. The power supply for this mic gives a generous boost to gain and doesn't require phantom power. I'm using it when background noise is not an issue. Works well with the Rode shock mounts. This is a very nice mic.

[Yes] Plain and simple, this mic sounds amazing! Used it on an interview (indoors) for a short documentary film. Sounded amazing and film-like! My friend, also a pro shooter, loved it, too!!

[Omnidirectional] I got the NT4 to use in conjunction with my Sony Z7U. I've been recording live bands for the past 3 years and my current setup is the Sony, Nikon D7000, and a Zoom H4N. I wasn't getting great sound with the shotgun mic on the Sony because its a directional mic and it's better for voice only. I was relying on my H4n for all the live audio which sounds great but I needed another mic as a backup. Instead of purchasing another H4N I decided for look into better XLR mics for my Sony and came across the NT4. I'll probably be using the NT4 and my primary audio source over the H4N mainly because of how clear and precise the audio sounds! Amazing audio quality and i'm totally happy with my purchase. Plus it comes with a hard-case so I don't have to worry about it getting tossed around in my camera bag.

[Handheld] Purchased in 1999 this mic still works after all these years. It didn't get much use, as I only used it to record acoustic guitar. Nevertheless, it can do a lot more than just acoustic recording. Build quality is great, sound is excellent, a wide dynamic range, and frequency response. With small condensers mic placement is critical, and the NT3 is a lot more forgiving than my AKG C1000s.

[74 dB ] A very nice mic. I am not an audiophile but this mic sounds excellent to me. Very low noise and a very high peaking threshold. Outstanding build quality if a bit heavy. Love it.

[122 dB SPL] Rode delivers with the NT3, crisp clear audio with low noise. I use it for recording DSLR dialogue and the cardioid pattern means I don't have to be super critical with aiming it. I use Neutrik connectors which do lock into the NT3, just give them a push, for a secure XLR connection. I mount it into an Audio Technica AT8415 shock mount, if it slips a bit in the vertical, I wrap a rubber band around the mic shaft to offer some purchase to the shock mount bands, keeps it secure. 4 stars due to weight, 5 stars for sound.
