It does need an adapter if you don't have the space on your mother board to hold and SSD. He has been able to add more games and store more files for school work. [1 TB] No issues so far. Purchased this along with a Zitay CFexpress enclosure. Tested both the 120fps burst and the highest 8k n-raw settings in camera. Everything is working as it should. Definitely a solid SSD card. 5
