[200 W] Got this unit after returning the NXI Acusense model, which was a disappointment.

Configuration was a breeze, but it must be done locally. That is, hook up the monitor and USB mouse directly. After that you can disconnect the monitor and the mouse and manage the unit headless by iVMS-4200 software installed on a PC or Mac on the local network. Or remotely, but to do that, the configuration is a bit more complex.

I use it with a mix of genuine US Hikvision cameras and cheap ONVIF-compatible cameras. I do not use the cloud, because I configured remote access.

Going from QNAP NAS to the Hikvision NVR was like a night and day experience. This is a rock solid NVR. Feature-rich, configurable, full time recording without skipping a beat, remote access and playback though the Hik Connect mobile app are just a few things to mention. The Hik Connect mobile app is also very good and easy to use, unlike most other Chinese-made apps that are buggy, filled with spelling errors in the UI. And YES, unlike the NXI Acusense model, the firmware in this model is regularly updated and email notifications work properly.

The unit is well built but it is loud. Unless you are are hearing impaired you will not be able to keep it in a living room, bedroom, or media room. It works for me because I keep it in a utility room.

All in all, I highly recommend this model for home or business use.

[4 TB Hard Drive] After having used programs for years like Zoneminder CCTV and Shinobi CCTV on standard desktop computers, decided to switch full time to a Hikvision DVR.


4 Hikvision cameras at 2MP recording 24/7. The DVR has a nice feature of recognizing people, and not having many false positives due to lighting changes (sun/cloud/etc). With playback, can choose for the DVR to just play back the videos with people. Alerting zones can be set as well.
Have a wireless mouse plugged into the unit too.


With the cooling fan in the unit (this unit has a power brick outside the unit), don't expect to be putting this DVR in your regular living space. The stock fan (DVR date code August 2022 on box) is quite noisy and the high pitched noise does slightly dissipate with use, but not enough. I have replaced the fan with a Noctua NF-A4x20 FLX (40mm and 12volt). The Noctua package comes with wire connectors to cut and splice to the original NVR fan connector. I also have the fan blowing in, instead of as exhaust, and appears to run slightly cooler when touching the heatsink on the CPU. New Noctua fan is very quiet.

[2x SATA] This unit has worked with all the features you need. I would recommend this purchase.

[200 W] I bought this to replace a Truvision 4-Channel NVR. I am definitely not a novice but it was easy for me to setup and plug n play with Hikvision cameras. This is a nice upgrade with a good price.

[8.99 lb] I had an older/cheaper Hikvision 1TB NVR that didn't have the latest software or capabilities. This unit is much easier to use, especially when you're looking for a specific event. Initial setup was a breeze. I took the older 1TB hard drive and installed into this unit. Instantly recognized it. What I don't like about it - and I've seen/read this from other users...the cooling fan is LOUD. Luckily my unit is in a utility room (washer/dryer) and the noise doesn't bother us. I did have a minor setup issue recognizing my newer Hikvision cameras - B&H technical got Hikvision USA on the phone with me. I didn't have the latest firmware loaded. New firmware fixed the issue. I also have the newest Hikvision WiFi doorbell connected to it. I highly recommend this unit if you're wanting to have the latest tech, reasonable costs, and a more capable NVR.

[200 W] I was shopping NVR's for some time and was worried about the source of the product (grey market or chinese versions) but B&H has delivered the upgradeable US version in a very timely fashion with quality shipping & packaging. The product arrived in excellent shape. As for the 16 channel Hikvision product. I upgraded from an 8 channel Hikvision version to this 16 channel. Very pleased with the ease of setup, configuration and the feature set of this unit is second to none. A full 16 channel decoding at 1080P or 4 channels decoding with 4K cameras. 4K is the future so wanted to make sure I was ready for it. Be sure to buy as much storage as you can afford as those higher resolutions with gobble up the space. I have Hikvision cameras attached directly to the NVR and have several other non-Hik cameras on the network which the unit identified and connected with no problems. The reason i chose this unit was 4K capability, 16 channel decoding at 1080p, was already familiar with Hikvision software, and the incoming/outgoing bandwidth capabilities (160/256). Very pleased with both the NVR and quality of service from B&H Thanks!

[16] I bought this to replace my NAS so I could record 24/7 on a of my cameras with out purchasing additional licenses and taxing my NAS hardware to the point of not functioning. So far it has performed wonderfully. The first 24 hrs was a little underwhelming and I was worried I would regret the purchase, but once I got everything operating how I wanted it and got used to the interface and remote interface it had lived up to my expectations. Highly recommend this unit for hikvision cameras AND 3rd party cameras. Works great with wifi connected cams as well.

This product surpassed my expectations, and the H.265+ compression technology is phenomenal.

A bit cumbersome to set up since it's more of a professional line, but it's not rocket science.
