This 37mm Special 50th Aniversary Edition 18-stop Tiffen Solar ND Filter 37mm 18-Stop Anniversary Editionfrom Tiffen is a solid ND filter with a 262,144x filter factor that provides an 18-stop exposure reduction. Its 5.4 density darkens the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed while reducing the risk of overexposure. This means you can capture more detailed solar images than might be possible under normal conditions. This filter limits IR and UV light, ensuring color-neutral images, and reduces glare with its multi-layer coating.

In honor of B&H's 50th anniversary, Tiffen presents this limited edition run, specially designed to celebrate five decades of creative partnership. This exclusive Special 50th Anniversary Edition embodies the commitment to excellence that B&H stands for. Get your hands on a piece of history with this distinctive edition.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. does this meter work to measure light from flashes?

A: No, the Sekonic L-398A Studio Deluxe III Light Meter is not designed for flash metering.

Q: 2. Can the scope fit on a tripod and what camera would be usable with the scope?

A: The Sky-Watcher SkyMax 127 Virtuoso GTi Telescope (25th Anniversary Edition), BH # SKS21225, is adaptable to standard photographic tripods. Use this adapter to attach a DSLR: Celestron SLR (35mm OR Digital) Camera Adapter (B&H # CETA1.250) The Canon EOS Rebel SL3 DSLR Camera with 18-55mm Lens (Black), B&H # CAEDRSL3BK, would work with the above tripod and adapter. https://bhpho.to/3YD73BW .

Q: 3. To use a DSLR, do you need the Celestron SLR adapter and a T-ring or something more?

A: The Sky-Watcher SkyMax 127 Virtuoso GTi Telescope cannot take the weight of a DSLR camera.

Q: 4. For anyone with experience using this case as a carry-on for a flight, do you need to take everything out of the case to send through security? Or will they allow everything to remain contained?

A: No when you go through security, I have never had to take everything out of the case and send them through individually. They may ask to open it up after scan to look inside, but I have never had them ask to take everything out individually for the scan.

Q: 5. The L-208 comes with a flash shoe mount. Does this come with one and/or have an easy method of mounting it to a flash shoe?

A: The 398 was never designed to be used mounted on a camera. It has a metal body and a large magnet in it that is actually not a great thing to have around any digital recording devices. If small and simple is what you are looking for, the 208 is a very nice meter. The 398 is a very traditional meter that is modeled after one of the very first light meters and first incident measuring meter.

Q: 6. Can this fit a Matterport Pro 2 camera?

A: Yes, this case will hold the Matterport Pro 2.

Q: 7. I see some sites selling the Europe CE version of the L-398A, what is the difference?

A: The CE IS the European Union version of the UL Listed for safety standards that electrical equipment must be rated for in certain applications is all.

Q: 8. How is the display for reading for someone for someone who needs strong reading glasses?

A: I used these a lot back in my younger days when I didn't need glasses. My opinion is that reading glasses of any strength will be fine. They are a good design with a long history. http://camera-wiki.org/wiki/Norwood_Director http://www.cameramanuals.org/flashes_meters/norwood_director.pdf

Q: 9. I have read the manual and Sekonic says that this meter must be kept away from floppy disks and similar materials. Does this include SD cards? If so, how would one do so.?

A: Floppy disks and SD cards use totally different technologies to record data. SD cards, USB sticks, and SSD's are NOT affected by magnets like floppy disks. You can safely store SD cards around the meter.

Q: 10. Does anyone know if the selenium diode in the meter wears out.Or, can it last for 30+ years?

A: Over time the meter will need adjustment. Sekonic, and Quality Light Metric, In Hollywood, Ca. are my go to sources for meter repair/cell replacement. Leaving the meter in the unlocked mode, and in the case, when not in use should extend the service life for many years.

[Solid ND] Bought this for the annular eclipse in Albuquerque October 14th. Don't have a digitized tracking mount, so video was not considered. Between 10 AM and 11 AM I watched the eclipse on my Lumix DMC-FZ200 LCD screen, right outside my southerly front door, as I frequently adjusted pan and tilt of my Manfrotto 804RC2 tripod head, even shortening a tripod leg a few times to get more ALT, while using my Vello Wired Remote for shutter. Got 125 shots in that hour.

[Solid ND] An excellent ND filter for shooting the Sun... the 18-stops are preferable to the lessor filters... used it for the April eclipse...

[Solid ND] Tiffen filters have consistently been high quality in my experience, and this filter performs the expected 16 stop adjustment.

This filter is marginally less deep than expected, but its thin profile does not prevent easy threading or removal.
