Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Would this lens be a suitable macro and ultrawide for the Leica SL2-S?

A: Yes, the Panasonic Lumix S 14-28mm f/4-5.6 MACRO Lens is suitable for macro and ultrawide photography.

Q: 2. I have the Lumix 18mm and 35mm f1.8 Primes. Would I be happing replacing them with this? Low light etc.

A: You may be happy with the the zoom range on the Panasonic Lumix 14-28mm f/4-5.6 MACRO Lens (Leica L), but you will not see any improvement in low light performance at all. Currently, there are no L mount zoom lenses with a f/1.8 max aperture capability.

Q: 3. Is the aperture ring clicked or de-clicked?

A: The AstrHori 40mm f/5.6 Lens (Leica M, Silver) aperture ring is de-clicked.

Q: 4. Why don't you list this as a Lumix S lens?

A: The Panasonic 14-28mm Macro is a LUMIX S lens. We will correct it here. Thank you for bringing it to our attention.

Q: 5. When using the 28mm lens do you need to use the Leica Universal Wide-Angle Viewfinder for M System. What is this viewfinder typically used for ?

A: The Leica Universal Wide-Angle Viewfinder for M System would not be needed when using this lens on an M series body.

Q: 6. There are two versions of the M28 ASPH produced, one in Germany the other in Portugal. Is there any markings or visual clues on the lens that indicates where it was produced ?

A: Aside from the engraving on the bottom of the lens, the price is also less if it's made in Portugal

Q: 7. is this full or half stop aperture?

A: The TTArtisan 28mm f/5.6 Lens for Leica M has 1/3rd stop increments, not half stops.

Q: 8. Is this lens fully compatible with film cameras, like the 35mm CL and/or M2, with good results?

A: The AstrHori 40mm f/5.6 Lens (Leica M) is fully compatible with a Leica M2. However, with the Leica CL, an APS-C L mount camera, you will need an adapter.

Q: 9. Does this have internal focusing so that it does not extend when zooming?

A: Yes, the Lumix S 14-28mm Macro lens internally zooms.

Q: 10. Is this lens (Leica 11672) 6-bit coded?

A: Yes. All current Leica M lenses are 6 bit coded.

[Full-Frame] I'm using this on a Sony a 73 and I'm happy with the renderings. This is the only lands at 28 mm to work well with modern digital sensors.

[Full-Frame] I’ve been shooting with this lens for a month and a half and it has become my go-to lens. Captures the moment with real depth and color.

[75°] Excellent performance in a tiny, lightweight, comparatively affordable package. 14mm with 77mm filter threads, and no vignette at 14mm even with a CPL - Impressive! One of the best ultrawide zoom lenses I have ever used. This includes: Nikon 14-24 G, Nikon Z 14-30, Tamron 15-30, Sigma 12-24 Art, Sigma 14-24 DN, and Lumix 16-35. Sharp details across the frame at all focal lengths, rich color and contrast, and almost no noticeable CA. This lens does not rely on software corrections to cover the FF sensor at 14mm like some other modern 14-__ ultrawide zooms. If you open the files without lens corrections, you will see the image circle extents well past the image frame, perhaps 13mm. If I am being picky, my only gripe is that the sunstar is nothing special.

[L-Mount] I tried to love the 28mm Elmarit because the reviews are so good and it's 2K cheaper. I bought and returned it 2 times. I'm sure I drove B&H crazy. I have the M10 Monochrom, and the images, for me, were way too contrasty out of the Elmarit. Especially when compared to my 35mm Summicron and 50mm Summilux. The Elmarit is very sharp, but I found myself reducing the contrast by 20-25% in post on almost every single image. So I decided to give the Summicron a try even though I was hesitant to spend the additional 2k. THIS is the right 28mm for me. Perfect micro contrast, cinematic dreamy look, and much more like the images from my 35mm Summicron and 50mm Lux. Also, not as big, heavy , or expensive as the 28 lux.... which I am sure is a fantastic lens. But this one is just right for me. I had read a lot of reviews that said there isn't a discernible difference between the Elmarit and the Summicron. Trust me, there is. Whether that's worth an additional 2000 bucks is up to you. To me, it is definitely worth it.

[f/13] Got this to pair with the Summilux-M 50mm as it offers a wider perspective than the 50 without going too wide. Very small, light, and compact yet the 2.0 allows beautiful rendering at all stops.

[Manual Focus] This was love at first sight. A fantastic lens that solves my tasks. If I were to describe how lenses work, I can only say: turn ordinary binoculars and look through them. Shows a wide-angle picture with options for taking Micro pictures.
With best regards. Karl A. Allan

[4.935 lb] I love the Lumix 18mm f1.8 prime. However this lens offers great utility indoors, shooting landscapes, and especially in urban scenes. There is a tradeoff for the zoom range in low-light situations, but I can always grab a prime for this which as a practical matter is more of an edge case for me. The image quality is equal to the Lumix primes, which are all highly regarded. And, it’s small and light.

[Manual Focus] Very light. Extremely high quality. The perfect wide angle lens for any camera. I use it on M3 and M240 and get great results. It is expensive for a Summicron, but it is extremely sharp . High quality and light weight make it a good choice.

[75°] I used to own the previous version and now own the revised version 2.

Optically this is the best wide-angle lens I've ever used. Sharp from corner to corner, outstanding color rendition and beautiful bokeh when focused on nearby objects at wide apertures.
