Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How do I secure the open port on the AP when mounted outside? I feel this is a way for someone to hard wire connect and access my network unauthorized.

A: You could use RJ45 locking plugs. If your worried about the physical access you might need to reconsider the AP location as it can simply be disconnected and a attacker could then have a direct wire in.

Q: 2. Can this Ubiquiti Networks UAP-AC-M-US UniFi AC Mesh Wide-Area Indoor/Outdoor Dual-Band Access Point be used to extend the wireless capabilities of my Xfinity modem/router to get better coverage on the same network?

A: You can have the same wifi name with the Ubiquiti Networks UAP-AC-M-US UniFi AC Mesh Wide-Area Indoor/Outdoor Dual-Band Access Point. Keep in mind that it might be necessary to adjust the settings for better performance.

Q: 3. Can I use this to replace a UAP-AC-M-US? I understand that it is larger and would perhaps have more range.

A: Yes, you can use Ubiquiti Networks UAP-AC-M-PRO-US UniFi AC Mesh Wide-Area Outdoor Dual-Band Access Point BH #UBUAPACMPRUS to replace the UAP-AC-M-US. The Pro model does have better range but it is much larger so I would keep that in mind.

Q: 4. Is the PoE injector included?

A: The Ubiquiti Networks UAP-AC-M-PRO-US UniFi AC Mesh Wide-Area Outdoor Dual-Band Access Point comes with the PoE injector.

Q: 5. I live with access to a guest wifi from business below the signal is pretty good but localized. Is this a help or something else from Ubiqiti....?

A: Yes the UAP-AC-M-US will extend a Wi-Fi area. It must be wired to the router. Preferably a Ubiquiti router or switch.

Q: 6. How do you get the Gigabit PoE that shows in the Quick start menu?

A: The device is native 10/100/1000 auto sense and supports POE. The speed of your POE equipment is dependent on that equipment throughput. You can use a POE Switch or POE injector the MESH unit will work on either. :)

Q: 7. Is this device water resistant/proof? IP rating?

A: The Ubiquiti UAP-AC-M-PRO-US is not IP rated, but it can operate in conditions of up to 95% humidity and has been stated in user testimonials to endure harsh climates and extreme weather.

Q: 8. looking for 2 non wired extenders for my hardwired AC-Pro , will these do?

A: This will need to be at least plugged in for power. It is meant to extent the existing WiFi signal further in AP mode and repeat the signal with other UAP devices.

Q: 9. where should this be mounted on a wall? Are there anything to consider when mounting on a wall? Any location issues? Should it be on a flat wall with no other walls near it or can it be mounted anywhere?

A: It will come down to your specific space, building materials, etc. Please reach out to us at pc@bhphotiovideo.com so we can discuss further and make recommendations.

Q: 10. How many UniFi devices can be daisy chained together?

A: The manufacturer has not specified how many of the Ubiquiti UAP-AC-M-PRO-US UniFi AC Mesh Wide-Area Outdoor Dual-Band Access Point can be daisy chained in a network.

[512] Finally upgraded from my Apple Airport Extreme and Timemachine, due to compatibility issues with newer devices. Ubiquiti was highly recommended. Works flawlessly. Not a cheap router and mesh but a worthy replacement

[Internal] Took out my wifi router, (don't use the service-supplied internal, didn't really need the extra router, and it was ancient-old) and replaced it with this. I'm using it @ home.

We just added 2 new units, equipped with WiFi 6e. Wow - you can't tell if it's plugged into the ethernet cable or WiFi. Once set up, it does a great job & is fully configurable (with the separate controller). MAC Filtering, latest security modes, all work well. Coverage (inside, 2nd floor, pointed down) gives huge full-house, plus full-yard coverage.

Pleased with the change.

[≤15.6 W] Even though the U6-Mesh has been out for over a year, I still think it provides good value and an easy way to get into or expand your Unifi WiFi networking. Connect to a POE outlet on your network or use the power injector with a non-POE connection and start your adoption with your devices. Even if you don't have any other Unifi products you can set up an app on your phone to administer your device. I enjoyed my first purchase to the point of buying a second one for another bedroom.

[Access Point] Have used these both indoors and out. Outdoors they are great, no antenna to break or move. Indoors, they can be made to blend in with the decor. No tech issues so far, everything just works

[WPA3] I have over 150 of the 5.8GHz radios and they work but the noise is getting bad. Most of my links are less than a mile. I am slowly switching to the mmWave radios and wish that my whole network could be magically switched!

[3.2 to 5.4 dBi] This thing is a beast compared to the ac model I upgraded from. I like the internal antennas instead. Works great in all aspects as desired!

[3.2 to 5.4 dBi] B&H has items I need in stock with fast service.
The access points work as they should, I would recommend.

[≤15.6 W] Easy to adopt to UDR. Wired backhaul through moca adapters running on existing cable in house. No more weak spots in our house. WiFi 6 is speedy on all devices!

[Auto-MDIX/MDI] The WAPs are often difficult to find. B&H had them in-stock and was charging the regular price. Competitors had a few, all priced higher than the MSRP.
