$387.00 $468.27

Taking a 1968 classic and giving it a modern makeover, the LPB-3 Linear Power Booster from Electro-Harmonix is a versatile boost pedal that offers up to 33 dB of clean gain. Combined with an active 3-band EQ with fully parametric mid level and frequency controls, you can deftly sculpt your tones and provide the right amount of gain for any application.

Along with adjustable mid level and frequency, you can select a wide or narrow Q (Low/High switch) for the Mid frequency control, offering powerful tonal shaping to cut through any mix. You can select between a maximum of 20 dB boost for dynamics or 30 dB boost for driving preamps to saturation. Pre-Gain lets you control gain levels before the EQ circuitry. And with a high internal operating voltage of ±15V, you get increased headroom, ensuring even more detail in your tone hits your amp, DAW, or PA system with utter clarity. The LPB-3 includes a 9V power supply.

The LPB3 sports 3-band active EQ with fully parametric mids for precision tone shaping.

  • Treble knob boosts or cuts frequencies above 3.2 kHz
  • Bass knob accentuates or attenuates frequencies below 240 Hz
  • Mids frequency knob sweeps cleanly from 240 Hz to 3.3 kHz
  • 2-way Q switch sets the resonance (or bandwidth) of the Mid EQ, with Low offering a broad Q and High providing a more narrow band for a more peak-like sound

A sliding switch under the bottom cover allows you to select true bypass (left position) or buffered bypass (right position). With true bypass, your tone remains uncolored and pure as it is passed directly from the input to the output. With buffered bypass, your signal is passed through a high-quality op-amp before reaching the output, injecting a small amount of warm color but also boosting your signal integrity for long cable runs or complex pedalboard configurations.

While most guitar pedals operate internally at the same voltage as their power input (9V), the LPB-3 boosts internal rail voltage to ±15V. This higher voltage allows the peaks and valleys of the voltage range to be greater, ensuring higher headroom and detail of signal amplitude before it is approximated at the amp input. In essence, this allows more dynamics and more detail of your tone to successfully arrive at it's destination, providing a greater sense of volume with a less compressed sound when driven.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Are the two outlets one normally on and the other one normally off, each switched by the timer?

A: That is exaclty right. the safelight is on and the enlarger turns on and off when the timer is going or you can turn the enlarger on to focus by using the focus switch at the top of the timer.

Q: 2. Does this require phantom power to run? And can it pass phantom power on to, say, a condenser mic?

A: This does require phantom power to run, however it will not pass phantom power. The booster is intended for use with dynamic and ribbon mics.

Q: 3. will it fit on a canon 7d,40d pop-up flash

A: Yes that Flash booster will work on the Canon 7D and 40D.

Q: 4. Will the Astra 1x1 and a collapsible softbox attachment fit in this bag?

A: I have a Lite Panel 1x1 and it fits. There's a front pocket that I put a diffusion cloth into. It's actually a pretty big pocket, and if you give me the dimensions of your folded up softbox, I'll see if it fits in there.Ron

Q: 5. Does it further improve auto focus performance? or is it the same as in-camera boost mode?

A: It's slightly better autofocus. Fuji's detailed page explains the precise differences. Shooting interval goes from 0.19 sec. to 0.17 sec., shutter lag from 0.05 sec. to 0.045 sec., blackout time from 130msec. to 114msec., and finally high speed shooting goes from 8 fps to 11 fps.In practice the difference if fairly minimal.

Q: 6. Will this work with the new XT-4?

A: It won't. The grip for the XT4 is this one. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1548397-REG/fujifilm_16651332_vg_xt4_vertical_battery_grip.html

Q: 7. What's the weight (either with or without batteries)?

A: The item is so new that at this time Fujifilm does not list the weight. My guess is without batteries it is about 0.5 lb.

Q: 8. I'm assuming that a ball head quick release plate will screw onto the bottom? What are the limitations?

A: I use quick release plates on mine all the time. Balance can be a little odd but nothing unusual. The only real issue is the flexing of the the plastic portion that surrounds the side of the camera. As others have noted it has a gap. Feels funky but really is not an issue. It is a good product.

Q: 9. Will this fit 3 Litepanels Astra 1000 1x1 panels, as it claims?

A: Yes this bag can accommodate 3 Litepanels Astra units.

Q: 10. What is the difference in brightness if running on a 15amp plug compared to a 20 amp plug?

A: The Aputure Electro Storm CS15 RGB LED Monolight can be powered from some household circuits. The CS15 requires more than 110v/15a to operate at full power so in the US, there are multiple cables available. A 20a Edison connector will allow full power and a 15a Edison plug will inform the Control Box to automatically limit power draw. There is no information about the exact output using a 15a plug.

[Gray / Blue] The Electro Harmonix Platform Compressor is a fantastic stereo compressor pedal that works quite well. It runs on a standard 9-volt pedal power supply that it comes with. I used three of them for a live techno set I was doing. I had a Roland TR-8, Roland TB-3, and Novation Circuit all synced and running together. I had Platform Compressors on the stereo out of each piece of gear and they worked perfectly. They were very reliable but I did have a user error once which I will mention so you can avoid it. The Swell knob got bumped and my attack times began fading in completely throwing off the timing of the TB-3. I couldn't figure out what happened till after my set. So be careful to not hit this knob mid performance. To remedy this possibility, I used electrical tape to hold my knob settings in place after this incident and never had this issue again. The Platform Compressor is fantastic for the money and for the functionality. Stereo compression has never been more convenient with the Platform Compressor.

[Analog] This is the best delay / slap-back echo / mod machine I've ever heard. There are versatile sounds for every need, with responsive controls to dial in the perfect effect. Plus, the secret secondary controls make this even more customizable. The looper is lots of fun, though might be a little difficult to pull off live onstage. Basically, if you're looking for a versatile delay, with some added modular swirly/shimmery sounds and a looper thrown in for good measure, stop reading this and buy this pedal. Just be prepared to sit in front your amp and enjoy exploring the sounds this pedal provides, for hours! Highly recommended!

[1 Megohm] The EHX series of organ pedals are a breath of fresh air in an industry that seems content recycling the same basic stompbox designs. You can get a wide range of sounds that go from subtle organ texture to bizarre voicings. Having a dry signal out is fantastic for players like me (bass) who want to keep an uneffected signal to my bass rig. Meanwhile I can run the organ sounds into a separate amp and/or series of pedals and tweak to taste. I'm not sure I'll use it in a live setting much, but its a blast to record and play with.

[660 Ohms] well, I have dozens of pedals, but this one still amazes me from the first day I bought it. spectacular slow down feature, selectable waveforms, 16-step sequencer, envelope, presets, tap tempo (along with tap-in port), expression support, tons of subdivisions... well, it just does everything, in STEREO, and still it's all analog. can be really as slow and as lighting-ring-mod-like fast as you want: the rate button works like a gear switch for precise adjustments. also, we all know EHX doesn't look good at times, but the visuals we got here are just awesome, sorts of retro spaceship with those leds on top (those don't only look nice, but also an important part of its UI). real candy to look at. there's only one con: the thing isn't small and won't fit small boards, but at least all the controls are visible, no hidden settings etc. Devs at EHX could make it smaller and even save some money on electronic parts, but it's big by design: both features and sounds wise.

[+22 dBu] Yes, this pedal is pretty cool! I particularly like the orchestra and choir voices, though the rest are interesting too. I got it, added it to my pedal board, and tried it out at a gig. Audience members were looking around trying to figure out where all the orchestral sounds were coming from. My bandmates thought it was hilarious that our scrappy garage band suddenly had this new big production sound.

[1 Megohm] I got the last one in stock (time to reorder, B&H!) and I can see why... the Mel9 pedal adds a completely new vibe to any electric guitar setup. It's very dynamic and responsive, only slightly losing track with very soft notes. Send the dry out to one amp, and the effect out to another (or the sound board) and your sound palette gets very big very quickly. Like everyone else probably did, I immediately dialed in the flute sound and learned Strawberry Fields Forever, but it doesn't stop there. Strings, cello, orchestra and choir sounds are super-fun and very authentic - even down to the warbly tape sound. One thing I'm considering is putting an EQ pedal on Mel9 as its sounds can be a little harsh in the midrange. Dial that back, add some reverb, set the attack and decay at about 1 o'clock, and you have a string pad like keyboard players have always enjoyed - at a fraction of the cost of MIDI guitar synth. Play around with pickup settings too, as the effect sound definitely responds differently to neck vs. bridge pickups. Playing speed is also a factor... most of the sounds take a little time to bloom, so staccato, rapid picking probably won't let the sounds fully develop. But for adding a huge layer and vintage texture to your sound, the Mel9 is where it's at. I can't wait to try it on bass guitar too. This one will be used a lot.

[1.3 lb] First of all, this pedal has so many features and applications. Four different octaves, attack, and low-pass filter (I don't use the detune much, but others probably would get some mileage out of it), plus a built-in presets footswitch. One note: if you are powering your pedalboard with a dedicated pedal power supply, only certain combinations of power supply and pedals will work if you include the POG2. Do some research online if you already have a pedal power supply or if you will add one in the future. Even though this was a special delivery order and not something that B&H carries in stock, B&H delivered very quickly.
