A: On the bottom of the HyperDeck there is a plate with 6 screws. With the unit turned off and disconnected, remove the screws and plate, insert the M.2 PCIe card, re-attach the screws and plate and you're all set. You can purchase the M.2 PCIe card from just about any computer hardware reseller.

A: It works very well with the Constellation as a playback device. Yes - some files are finicky - our solution, pipeline everything through Adobe Encoder with their "Adobe Stock" preset - this makes them a flavor of ProRes (even up to 4k/59.94p) that the player is really happy with. Oh, and avoid special characters and long filenames. I can't put my finger on it, because we can export the SAME thing from Premiere, Avid Media Composer, etc., but a finalo pass in Encoder standardizes the files just right for us.

Q: 8. Can this unit by itself function as a switcher for live recording? Does the touchscreen allow for easily switching between recorded inputs?

A: The HyperDeck Extreme is suitable for live production as a master recorder, clip player, for recording ISO cameras, and it works well when paired with Blackmagic Design switchers, but it is not set up to be a switcher on it's own.
