Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will Tilta Mirage Matte Box fit on this lens?

A: No, the Venus Optics Laowa OOOM 25-100mm T2.9 Cine Lens (PL Mount, Feet) has a 100mm front diameter and the Tilta Mirage will clamp onto lenses with up to 95mm front diameter at maximum.

Q: 2. what lens support do you suggest when using this lens on the og bmpcc with a cage?

A: Lens support options would require 15mm rods. Good support options for the DZOFilm DZO 10-24mm T2.9 MFT Parfocal Cine Lens would be. 8Sinn Universal Lens Support (15mm) BH #8S8ULS15 • MFR #8-ULS15 SmallRig 15mm LWS Universal Lens Support with 2.1" Vertical Adjustment BH #SMBSL2681 • MFR #BSL2681

Q: 3. will it cover z cam s6 mtf?

A: Unfortunately the DZO lens will vignette, but apparently a Super 35mm version of their lenses should be coming.

Q: 4. Does it compatible with blackmagic studio design 4k pro cameras?

A: Yes it is compatible with the Blackmagic Design Studio Camera 4K Plus/Pro

Q: 5. Can you have both the full frame adapter and the anamorphic adapter on this lens at the same time?

A: No you cannot.

Q: 6. Has anyone tried using this with the Tilta Mirage Matte Box? Is there a way to clamp it on or does it only work with rails? I notice it says it has a 95mm thread, but a 100mm front.

A: The Tilta Mirage VND Kit fits on lenses 95mm or smaller. Unfortunately, the Venus Optics Laowa OOOM 25-100mm T2.9 Cine Lens is 100mm so the matte box will not fit.

Q: 7. Is there a pan handle mountable zoom control that can be used with this lens?

A: The DZOFilm DZO 10-24mm T2.9 MFT Parfocal Cine Lens is a manually controlled lens and would require a motorized solution for zooming. The Tilta Nano II could be used to control Zoom, focus, and Iris if you add more motors. It could also attach to many items with its NATO Mount. You would also require 15mm rods or a rig with a rod to work with this solution. Tilta Nucleus Nano II FIZ Wireless Lens Control System BH #TIWLCT05

Q: 8. To utilise the 1.33x Anamorphic Rear Adapter or 1.4x Full-Frame Expander on a sony e mount camera. Would it be correct to assume that the adaptors are PL mount, so you would have to keep the lens as PL mount, and buy and additional PL to sony e mount adaptor ?

A: Correct, the anamorphic adapter and full-frame expander are in PL mount only so if you were to use them you would need to adapt from PL to E mount for use with E mount cameras.

Q: 9. Does anyone know how many shims are required to get this to focus properly and stay parfocal on the EF mount? Tried it with 2 shims for the EF mount (on a komodo with the canon VND adapter) and the focus got thrown off when zooming out.

A: From what we understand, you're using the Venus Optics Laowa OOOM 25-100mm T2.9 Cine Lens Bundle (Feet) (B&H# VEO2510029BF) with the included EF mount, and also the Canon Drop-In Filter Mount Adapter EF-EOS R with Variable ND Filter (B&H# CAMAEFRFDIND). While the lens is intended to be adapted using the included adapters, connections between those adapters and even minute differences between adapters and especially their fit can result in the lens being significantly less than parfocal. That's also true of the distance of the sensor relative to that of the mount of a camera. We'd recommend using the lens with a strong lens support, and also making sure that the procedure you're using for shimming it is appropriate. In particular, since your question was how many shims to use, please note that not all shims used for adjusting the flange distance of a lens are necessarily of the same thickness. Here's a popular video on the topic of shimming a lens: https://bit.ly/3u0rnim

Q: 10. Are the Linlung series zooms as sharp as the Pictor series zoom lenses. How does the quality compare?

A: We have no been able to compare the DZOFilm DZO 10-24mm T2.9 with the lens brand you are referring to.

[9] A true S35 PL cine zoom under 5K. What's not to like besides the ooom name? A bit of CA in bright highlights and softening at full telephoto but otherwise this so-called vintage look zoom lens is noteworthy and a bargain during B&H holiday sale. PL mount parfocal right out of the box. Breathing minimal. Sharpness held up against a set of Xeen cine primes (T4). Not for small rigs. Lens is heavy and requires lens support. Solid build and 4x factor makes it feel like a real cine zoom lens. Overall really nice and no significant difference between this zoom lens and others costing way much more.

[MFT] I started on my video journey in Canon land, then when I realized how handcuffed their mirrorless offerings were, I transitioned to Lumix, and it was a great choice for me at the time. My first piece of glass that I was really happy with was Sigma's 18-35 zoom coupled with the Metabones adapter. I still like it. I didn't like re-focusing at different zoom levels at all. With the GH5S, I have almost always followed a full manual workflow, so when I added this DZO film manual zoom, there was no adjustment for me. I only saw benefits. The benefits to me are as follows in no particular order: Parfocal-how friXXen awesome is this! No Focus breathing, OMG a life changer! Probably the best part. A beautiful rendition of the color palette. A little softer than the Lumix photo lenses, but in a good way. It makes everything look more cinematographic. If your lighting is solid and your white balance locked in, you are going to get great results. I love how this lens looks, how it doesn't get in my way, and if I do a great job with my lighting, it rewards me greatly. (as always, it all starts with light!). This lens makes my job easier and makes me look good.
What else is there to say?

[14 to 60mm] After looking at the other options around the price point. The OOOM checks more boxes, solid performer, not too clinical, but has nice character

[9] This lens is perfect for budget narrative filmmaking covering the common focal lengths you'll need 95% of the time. Build quality is impressive. Iris, zoom, focus are smooth. Some edge softness, but minimal breathing and very good parfocal performance. Mated with my JVC LS300, this is an incredible value and unbeatable combination. [9] It’s my first full on cinema lens, this is great. Has a long focus throw and breathing is minimal which was much more appreciated. Also loved the fact that it was parafocal, got some interesting shots already which is fantastic.

[77 mm] This is a very nice lens. A touch soft at T2.9 but sharpens up by T3.5. Rings are very smooth.
