A: I use this with an audio interface and the main advantage is that you can charge the iPad at the same time you are transferring data or streaming digital audio. It will work fine without plugging in to power. You just have the option of charging at the same time which is nice for extended periods of use or if your battery happens to be really low.

A: In all honesty, I haven't been able to get this device to do anything. When I plug in a usb drive, there is an import option, but it doesn't show any of the files/photos on the drive. If anyone else can get this to work, I'd like to know how they did it. BTW, I have tried plugging in the lightning power connector. Still no files shown.
