Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I don't understand the FPP instructions on loading the sheet film holder; the emulsion is doublesided; is there a preferred way?

A: According to the manufacturer, the Film Photography Project Black and White Negative X-Ray Film (4 x 5", 25 Sheets) is notched like traditional 4x5 film. That being said, as it has double-sided emulsion, you should be able to load the film in any direction. As the film is blue-light sensitive, if you so choose, you may visually load and unload the film in a darkroom under a red safe-light such as the Delta 1 Brightlab Universal Red Junior Safelight 11 Watt, B&H # DESLJ. https://bhpho.to/3Issmhv

Q: 2. What is the expiration date?

A: We are sorry. We can't confirm the expiration date of the stock of the Ilford FP4+ Black and White Negative Film (Expired 620 Roll) as we have stocks from different batches mixed in the inventory.

Q: 3. Where do I get the developing times for this film?

A: The manufacturer has instruction on how to find developing times on their website at the bottom of the page here: https://bit.ly/3fO6SOX

Q: 4. does the spool work with a Target brownie six-20

A: The 620 spool only fits the cameras that are for that film size. So yes. I have a roll of 620 from B and H in a Kodak Junior now. And Ive used 620 film in circa 1920 Brownies.

Q: 5. Can you reuse the film spool?

A: Yes, 620 film spools can be reused.

Q: 6. Can you compare this to Adox CMS 20?

A: Film Photography Project Low ISO Black and White Negative Film (35mm Roll Film, 24 Exposures) has a very low ISO of 6 and is a blue-sensitive film that incorporates a yellow dye that is removed during processing for increased sharpness; Adox CMS 20 II Black and White Negative Film (35mm Roll Film, 36 Exposures) is an orthopanchromatic film with a low ISO of 20, that has a similar sensitivity human eyesight, with increased green sensitivity. Both feature a high degree of detail.

A: Yes, the Film Photography Project Basic Black and White Negative Film (620 Roll Film) will work in the Beacon Two-Twenty Five (1950).

Q: 8. Will the 620 film work in my No. 1-A pocket Kodak

A: Film Photography Project Basic Black and White Negative Film (620 Roll Film) will not work with a Kodak No 1A camera, which uses 116 type film.

Q: 9. Would this work for an Imperial six-twenty snapshot camera?

Q: 10. Can you compare this to Adox CMS 20?

A: Adox CMS 20 II can only de developed with ADOTECH IV and has a an ISO of 20. Film Photography Project Yeti Black and White Negative Film (35mm Roll Film, 24 Exposures) can be developed with D-96, Standard Black and White Chemistry and has an ISO of 6.

[C-41] I got a single roll of this to take to Sweden, and the nature shots I got with this film were unbelievable. I used an older Canon Canonet camera without a flash, so some of the low-light photos came out pretty dark. As long as you shoot with a flash or with good natural light, you'll be fine and end up with gorgeous photos. I would highly recommend this film for its fun, funky, and rich colors.

[620] I want to recreate some of the nuances of old b/w monster movies and what better time than the next few weeks! Halloween is around the corner! As of this review it is Sept 21, 2030. I have lined up one model so far, well two if you count her dog...LOL. She has a look that will render very good on this film. Now to find a good location in this 4 block town. Somewhere creepy looking...ya. Thanks to the staff of B&H always getting my orders out right away. I have recommended B&H to my photographer, videographer and musician friends, all of which are now big B&H customers!

[1] I found this film to be very versatile, much moreso than I expected. The film renders blues and reds very nicely, although it struggles with greens. The grain is incredibly fine. When white-balanced in Adobe Lightroom, the pictures have a very nice appearance to them.
Despite the low ISO, on a very sunny day, shooting at f/2 and 1/125, or f/2.8 and 1/60 allows handheld shooting. I did not use a tripod for this film, but I think some shots would have benefited from a tripod and 1/30 shutter time. An EV100 of 14 or higher is needed to shoot handheld with a f/2 lens. I used this film in my Kodak Retina IIIc.
