Encode SDI or composite video for IP streaming output with this Drake PEG PLUS MPEG-2 H.264 Video Encoderfrom Drake. The unit features one HD-SDI input and an RCA composite input that support video up to 720p/1080i, which are remotely switchable. The unit then encodes the video in H.264 or MPEG-2 for IP output via a separately available SFP Ethernet module.

Audio options include encoding of Dolby Digital, AAC, or MPEG1-Layer 2 stereo audio from the embedded PCM source. The built-in RJ45 Ethernet port provides management and control of the encoder via IP. When the separately available SFP Ethernet module is utilized, the encoder supports VLAN and QoS streaming/traffic management, PNG logo embedding, and SNMP V2. The PEG PLUS can be mounted side-by-side with a second PEG PLUS onto a 1 RU rackmount using a separately available panel.

Q: 1. Can I buy LRT subscription when I need it? for example if I need it for the next 30 days I can subscribe for one month and stop the subscription after that and only activate it when I need it? or if I start the subscription I will need to keep it active and pay monthly for it?

A: I'm wondering if the LiveU Rep can post an updated reply here now that it's 3 years later.. perhaps this has changed?

Q: 2. Is it possible to use both the SDI and HDMI inputs on the LiveU Solo at the same time? (e.g. to stream two camera inputs at the same time)

A: Unfortunately it is not. You are able to use either HDMI or SDI, you cannot connect 2 cameras at the same time to a single transmitter.

Q: 3. is one year lrt subscription includes in $995 ?

A: No, a subscription to LRT is not included with this product. The subscription must be purchased separately.

Q: 4. With multiple LiveU Solo how I can connect multiple cam to my pc that is connected to a Ledwall? The cam are away from the pc

A: In most situations, cameras are first connected to a switcher, then to a computer, then on the computer output. The LiveU Solo HDMI Video/Audio Encoder then connects the video signal to the internet.

Q: 5. Does the LiveU Solo ship with a universal power adaptor? Meaning if I brought here could I use in Australia straight out of the box?

A: The LiveU Solo ships with a U.S. power adaptor. You would need a US to Australia power converter to use it in that country. Thank you for your question.

Q: 6. LiveU Solo - What other cost is incurred to use this Product? A monthly Fee? How much?

A: In order to utilize the bonding technology of LiveU Reliable Transport, LRT, which bonds multiple connections (2 cellular, Ethernet, and Wi-Fi) a monthly cost of $45 is required. The cellular USB modems are sold separately and usually require a Data Plan. You can utilize the device as a one connection RTMP encoder for no extra cost.

Q: 7. SDI has many audio channels. How many does the Solo send in the stream? Only 1 and 2?

A: Thank you. I know the audio is embedded. But my question is how many channels. Just 1 and 2 or more.

Q: 8. With LRT Subscription, It provides Internet too? or do we still need to provide sources like Modems/WiFi?

A: The LiveU LRT Cloud Bonding Annual Service (Download) does not provide internet but is a service for the LiveU Solo SDI/HDMI Video/Audio Encoder that combines multiple connections, like WiFi, ethernet, and two cellular modems, to have a robust and reliable connection for streaming. Ethernet and WiFi are provided with the LiveU Solo SDI/HDMI Video/Audio Encoder, but cellular modems are an additional expense. An example of a product is the LiveU Solo Connect 2-Modem Bundle for Solo Video Encoder. See the link below: https://bhpho.to/3ZalJax

Q: 9. Whats in the box? Does it come with the AC adaptor for non bundle package?

A: An AC power adapter is included in the box.

Q: 10. do you have to get the monthly thing or can it work independently? and what's the difference between lu200 and the solo? They look the same

A: The Cloud subscription allows you to use LRT, a technology that allows multiple connections such as Wi-Fi, Ethernet, 2 external modems into one connection. With no subscription, you get only one connection. The LU200 and Solo a very similar but differ in that the LU200 works with LiveU servers for a fee and includes two internal modems. The Solo does not have an internal modem nor does it work with the LU-Central web portal where as the LU200 does.

[Analog] Bought this and its matching tx. They seem pretty good. You can select different definitions, FHD, HD, SD, and then can assign them to the 3 types, and allocate bit rates for each. Eg you can select HD, send that to SD and a bit rate of 800 and FHD to HD and a bit rate of 2000 etc. It then selects the resolution type, eg 720P. The only limitation I find a bit strange is that the full range of resolutions, are not available all the time. They vary what is available depending on the Hz, 50Hz or 60Hz of the incoming HDMI. I am using 60Hz, and this does not have 1080i, but if I was using 50Hz, then 1080i would be included.
60Hz has 480i, 480P, 720P, 1080P.
50Hz has 576i, 576P, 720P, 1080P, 1080i.
The other strange thing I notice is that if I select a bit rate of 800Kbps, and then monitor the link at the IP level, it seems to be using about 3.5Mbps.
However, for quality and ease of use, these seem to be great devices.

[Dolby Digital] We bought our Solo almost a year ago. If your need is to stream live events using bonded cellular connections, LiveU Solo is exactly what you need and we love ours. Community events, sports, weddings, breaking news will all shine with LiveU.

If you are streaming events from locations where you have fixed 5Mb+ LAN connections, you have many other streaming hardware options to look at. Some of which will be cheaper, but all of which will be more complicated to setup and go live.

The bonding feature for cell, WiFi and even LAN is what makes LiveU different. they basically invented the technology and most TV station use LiveU's broadcast gear for live shots.

If you are an event producer, video production company or even a non-profit with lots of events LiveU Solo will light up your Social Media and WEB site.

[Analog] There's so many protocols to work with in this little box, and decodes practically anything thrown at it.

It's not an entry level unit but it's very very good and VITEC keeps improving it

[H.264, MPEG2] This has been solid so far. I wish they allowed you to save presets. For example, preset A = 1080p60 to Facebook , preset B = 720p to Twitch. So that things can be switched and set up quickly. Pairing the LiveU Solo with Restream is really powerful. The best way to do this is get data and bonding from LiveU. Buy the cellular modems from B&H.

[1x SFP Slot] I works perfect.
The only thing i can complain is i wish they have an app for this encoder or may be i just don't know it. And the bonding LT service i feel like its too expensive.
