Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Dose this one work on the bmpcc 4K?

A: No, because this lens has a Canon EF mount while the camera has Micro Four-Thirds mount. We recommend either using a MFT to Canon EF adapter or purchasing the same lens but with a MFT mount. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1339240-REG/rokinon_ffds16_mft_cine_ds_ff_16mm.html

Q: 2. When this going to come for Sony E mount ?

A: Unfortunately the manufacturer has not yet announced plans for any additional mounting options. However you could use a pl to e mount adapter to appropriately mount this lens to an e mount body. We suggest the Metabones MB_PL-E-BT1 https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1194555-REG/metabones_mb_pl_e_bt1_pl_to_e_mount_adapter.html

Q: 3. Is the image circle 43mm? (same as the 85?)

A: Vazen has not provided an exact measurement for the image circle on their 50mm T2.1 1.8x Full-Frame Anamorphic Lens, but it does cover RED Open Gate and Alexa LF Open Gate. Therefore, it is at least 46.31mm.

Q: 4. Why doesn't the 100mm Remus come with an EF mount option like the other ones?

A: The BLAZAR LENS Remus 100mm T2.8 Full-Frame 1.5x Anamorphic Lens EF mount is offered as a separate option for this lens by Blazar. BLAZAR LENS Remus 1.5x Anamorphic Lens Mount Adapter (Canon EF) BH #BLREEFMT

Q: 5. What is the PL mount clearance of these lenses?

A: The PL mount clearance of the BLAZAR LENS Remus 45/65/100mm T2.0 Full-Frame 1.5x Anamorphic 3-Lens Kit with Case (ARRI PL, Blue Flare) is approximately 15mm.

Q: 6. What is the image circle?

A: The Vazen 85mm T2.8 1.8x Full-Frame Anamorphic Lens (PL/EF-Mount) has an image circle of 43mm.

Q: 7. Are they compatible with the Metabones RF-PL Cine 0.71x Speedbooster? Will they mount correctly?

A: As the rear element of the BLAZAR LENS Remus 45/65/100mm T2.0 Full-Frame 1.5x Anamorphic 3-Lens Kit with Case (ARRI PL, Amber Flare) protrudes approximately 15mm from the flange, these lenses will not be compatible with the Metabones ARRI PL Lens to Canon RF-Mount T Cine Speed Booster ULTRA 0.71x (EOS-R).

Q: 8. Could this adapter be used with the Laowa Nanomorph primes (PL)?

A: No, the Venus Optics OOOM Adapter Kit with 1.33x Anamorphic Adapter (BH #VEOAKPL) is not currently designed to work with the Nanomorph lens series.

Q: 9. Hi! Is angenieux ez compatible with angenieux extender 1.4x and 2x?

A: I'm afraid not, the 1.4x and 2x extenders are for the Optimo Zoom Lenses only.

Q: 10. Does this lenses work with the canon EOS c300 markiii?

A: Yes, you will need to use a PL lens adapter or the C300 Mark III with a PL Mount.

[100mm] I bought a set of Viltrox anamorphic lenses, which are amazing, but I wanted something smaller and lighter for my FX6/Ronin 4D. These Blazar lenses are a lot of fun. I only have the 65 so far, which I find wide enough for most situations without having the issues in the corners that the 45 had. Waiting to try out their new ones, I just need something slightly wider and another slightly tighter. Waiting to hear what they say about the new additions.

[1.5x] I’ve had many of the affordable anamorphics that are out. They were all disappointing with their pinstripe flares. Pincushion distortion, and otherwise forgettable image.

These are not that! These have the character that one looks for in more expensive lenses like the Atlas Mercury’s. And in my experience with both, the Mercury’s and now owning the Remus’ I cannot imagine spending 10x the amount for the Atlas Mercury lenses when these exist.

These were one of the best and most surprising purchases I’ve ever made.

It’s clear that China is not messing around and are coming for blood, because these are killer!

[3.025 lb] Coming from spherical lenses - the price tag might seems high - especially for a relatively unknown brand. But it’s actually very affordable compared to the competition !
Anything cheaper for full frame will fake some of the characteristic of anamorphic lenses, and have no or very low squeeze. I wish it had a 2x squeeze - but the 1.8 squeeze probably allow to slightly more affordable price - while being optimal for 16:9 sensors, that are most likely what you’ll use it on...
Paired with a A7siii the image quality is amazing !
I recommend pairing this with a monitor that allow you to see the desqueezed image, as it can be fairly hard to focus without it, and framing as well can be challenging.
For an anamorphic lens, it’s very sharp, even wide open, I mostly shoot at T4 though mostly because it can be challenging to nail focus with this kind of lenses, as they’re slightly softer than spherical (not in a bad way, image is very pleasing), similar to using a light diffusion filter.
Overall, I totally recommend this lens, hopefully we see a 2x version soon too !
Also, if you’re in a limited budget, I would recommend the 40mm MFT version paired with a Blackmagic pocket 4K... the package would come to $4500 vs $12000... for a little more than 1/3 of the price, result is very close. The A7siii has an edge in low light obviously but if you’re using even minimal lighting (which you should), it shouldn’t be an issue. The blackmagic has the advantage of having a bigger screen - easier to manually focus without monitor.
Both are fantastic combos - and a lot cheaper than Cooke paired with an Alexa ...

[1.5x] Bought these to use with various cameras to get an anamorphic feel. I really like the look. They aren’t super sharp but fairly well built for the price, have a nice character and actually give a cinematic look. Maybe not 2 x character but for the price I love them.

[Yes] Excellent budget anamorphic lens. It works exceptionally well with my Sony A7sIII full frame camera. The Viltrox DC-X3 on camera monitor just complements the whole setup. It has exec 1.6 de-squeeze factor to help you compose every shot.

[77 mm x 0.75] Blazar nailed this and no its not a perfect lens... but for under a grand ITS INSANE that a TINY and LIght-weight anamorphic getting you that old panavision c-d series aesthetic but you can actually own these. Are they 2x no obviously not - My Gemini is 30x18mm (rounded) and on 4 perf S35 ie larger S35 chips like my Red Gemini this Lens is a DREAM... Its definitely soft wide open as most vintage anamorphics are and has some CA and flaws but they are very organic... and although the squeeze isnt 2x the Bokeh are CLEARLY oval and the blue streaks (got the blue streak PL ) are great... I always think you need to see how SMALL they are to believe it I dont need a support on My Gemini or when using the FF on my Eos r5. I cant wait for rest have 100 and Hoping the 85 comes soon and then the 33mm FF But this one is a must if you can only buy one.

[Yes] This lens is awesome, and produces clean images with real cinematic effects. I have the complete Venus T2.9 set (35mm, 50mm, 75mm, 100mm, 135mm, 150mm plus the 1.25 adapter that produces a 2x squeeze when paired with the 1.6x anamorphic squeeze of the lenses). The lenses produce uniform colors all throughout the set, and images are sharp wide open at T2.9. Somehow SIRUI has managed to make these primes sharp wide open, but not too sharp, given you that movie like look without any diffusion filters on the front of your lens. If you haven't tried the anamorphic look, you have no idea what your projects are missing. As result of purchasing this set, my G Masters and spherical Cine primes are collecting dust. The SIRUI 1.6x T 2.9 Venus Anamorphic lenses are a great set of glass.

[T2.8] I just received this lens set TODAY so please take this all with a grain of salt. This is also being done without shimming so there may be a little bit of blurriness that normally wouldn't be there. I added 2.39 bars to help see what an end image may look like.

I really wanted to see the differences between the Great Joy Set and the Remus. I've uploaded some photos to help people choose.

Overall I think I may go with the Remus as they seem to actually sharpen up closely to the Great Joy's when opened to 2.8T. they also seem to actually have a little more color constancy between each other (However, I did my test on a cloudy day so the sun may have played a factor).

To play to the favor of the Great Joy set they are a little cleaner and I would say might be a better set of lenses for commercial style work where as the Remus set seem to lean into the Narrative a bit more.

Hope this is a little helpful! Both sets of lenses are totally worth the money.

[Imperial] I am not really able to compare it to the others in the set yet… but it’s a safe bet this is the weakest of the 4 or 3if FF only. Partially just from to the focal length not conveying the look as strong as the wider lenses but also it really works best stopped down a tad…as it’s rather soft wide open. However I am def still very impressed by the overall quality and quality of these… they don’t feel cheap just small … shockingly small. The 100mm in PL is smaller than my RF 50mm f1.2! Impressed by this but it comes at the cost of some obvious chromatic aberrations… still for the money this is great and 1.5x may seem to enough squeeze the bokeh and flares look very anamorphic to my eyes shockingly so.
If you order just one maybe the 45mm 65mm or if your on smaller than 17mm high S35 sensors… get the 35mm . This lens great but don’t make it your only option.

[Yes] When I saw the many video reviews and demos of the Remus Lenses and the price for a set, I knew that they were going to be my first venture into anamorphic lenses.

Although it took almost 3 months to get the set, it was well worth the wait. I recommend this model, for it's budget and it's quality build. It's really amazing.
