Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Silly but serious question where exactly on the scanner do put this mask are there any sort of guide or something that fits the mask exactly where it needs to be? also I keep getting over lapping scans although my scanner (v550) has the correct film size setting.

A: I have a V600. It came with it's own film holders. I noted where the original film holders placed the film strip and made sure the Digitaliza put it in the same place. I used credit cards as spacers between the edge of the Digitaliza and the edge of the scanner window.

Q: 2. The film boarder will show up with this?

A: Yes you can scan the border and even the sprocket holes using the Lomography DigitaLIZA 35mm Scanning Mask.

Q: 3. How many 6x7 films will it fit? If I have a strip of 6x7 film without cutting it, will it still be able to hold it without damaging it?

A: 2 frames will fit.

Q: 4. Will it work with Epson Perfection v750 Pro?

A: Yes, the Lomography DigitaLIZA 120 Scanning Mask can work with an Epson Perfection V750 Pro.

Q: 5. Compatible with 116 negatives?

A: Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that the Lomography DigitaLIZA 120 Scanning Mask will work with the (now discontinued) 116 film format. The Lomography DigitaLIZA 120 Scanning Mask is designed for use with 120 film, which is 60mm wide, whereas 116 film is 70mm wide. Due to the larger size of the 116 film, we cannot guarantee the Lomography DigitaLIZA 120 Scanning Mask will work with this film stock, and your results may vary.

Q: 6. CAN THE HEIGHT OF THIS MASK BE ADJUSTED FOR FOCUSING?

A: No, the Lomography DigitaLIZA 120 Scanning Mask can not be changed to adjust the focusing.

Q: 7. Anyone use this successfully with a V500? Also, how many 6x6 negatives can fit at once?

A: For a 120 negative the mask will hold 3 frames, and 2 masks will fit on an 8x10 flatbed scanner, but only a few will scan the full 8x10 area for film/transparencies. I have the epson 850, which allows the entire area to be scanned, so you can scan 6 frames at once, with 2 of these masks. It works well if you need to flatten out the negative

Q: 8. will you actually be able to see the numbers of the frames or just a black board around?

A: It will hold a single 120 frame/negative or a strip of 3. The DigitaLIZA mask hold a very small edge of the (a millimeter or less) of the film, so in most cases you can see any Kodak numbering that was on the film, but all of the 120 photography I did in the 80s, the film showed no frame numbers. You will be able to scan the entire negative with the unexposed frame. The product work well and with a 8x10 flatbed scanner you can put 2 of these mask on the scanner at once, which means you can batch scan 6 frames at once, in manual mode. I hope this helps.

Q: 9. What is the footprint of this unit, the length and width?

A: We guess that it is slightly smaller than its box which is 10.0 x 4.6 x 1.2".

Q: 10. Does this work well with an Epson 7100

A: No Epson XP-7100 is not compatible with this

[Black] Negative files require 2-groups of 2 and 2-groups of 3 for 120 film. The Asahi Pentax creates 6x7 negatives. I use an Epson scanner. The negative carrier for 120 film allows only 2 negatives to be scanned in one setting, and to avoid damage, you have to cut a strip of 3 into a strip of 2 and a strip of 1. This mask does away with all that, is easy to use, and flattens the negatives better than the Epson carriers.

[Black] Ive used flat beds for the last 10 years, they are slow, the scanning software is out dated and they take up too much space. Flat beds also have lots of moving parts and wear out over time. Being a hybrid shooter I already have a digital and I was able to scoop a lens with 1:1 focus. The negative supply setup is amazing. It is a very high quality build and I’ve never had a concern with moving it. I’m able to scan my negatives much quicker with better software (3rd party LR integration). Over all the experience is much more enjoyable than having to cut, hang and swap out negatives from flimsy negative holders that flag beds use. So glad I bought into this system.

[Black] I recently got back into film and was shocked by how expensive lab scans are even at low resolution. Lower resolution TIFFs were about $14 a roll, but I was quoted $12 per image for high resolution TIFF scan. I went for the $14 scans but I could see the color and resolution were compromised, so I figured I would try doing it myself.

This is obviously a premium kit, and it took me a couple of hours to figure everything out - getting the correct height of the camera to fill the image frame, leveling things out - this takes a little time. I bought a 70mm Sigma APO Macro lens which made things a lot easier as it provides 1:1 magnification. All of the tools that come in this kit are high quality, and once you're set up scanning is a pleasure, and you get high quality, repeatable results.

Sure it takes up space, breaking it down is not ideal as then you need to set everything up again, but having a dedicated scanning setup if you shoot a decent amount is really nice. I bought the Valoi Easy35 which is basically a light source you mount on extension tubes to your lens, but the build quality is nowhere near as good as this Negative Supply Kit, and it is not as much fun to use. This NS setup is expensive, but the results you get, the build quality, and overall pleasure I get from using it is worth the money.

[Black] It proves once again that B&H has everything I need. It's nice to see that they would have Negative Supply equipment.
Look around they'll have it. Easily navigate the site.

[Black] Thrilled to add this to my Basic 35 MK2 carrier to scan my 110 film. Keeps my film flat for sharp results.

[Black] I've used this kit for a few months now with no issues. I use a small mirrorless camera (Fuji X Pro2) to scan and the riser is more than adequate. I like the camera attachment method so I can actually tighten the camera down tight so it won't swivel or rotate on the screw. The Light Source 35 was super bright and even. I've recently upgraded only because I wanted to scan 120 film too.

[0.75 lb] I got this to pair with my Nikon Z50. Great starter kit that has everything you need. Even comes with a half frame mask, which is great for when I go out shooting with my PenFT.
