Sporting the same warm, silky sonic character that made the NT1 series a go-to studio workhorse for millions, the black NT1 Signature Series Studio Condenser Microphone from RODE is the latest edition of the iconic large-diaphragm mic. With an incredibly low self-noise of 4 dBA and a high SPL handling of 142 dB, the NT1 Signature Series is a versatile Swiss Army knife built to deliver a classic studio sound for a range of applications, from vocal and instrument recording to podcasting, content creation, and voice-over work.

The classic RODE HF6 1" true condenser capsule brings a smooth frequency response and high sensitivity to the table. The internal JFET impedance converter and bipolar output buffer help contribute to the low noise and clean sound. The cardioid pickup pattern helps you avoid unwanted sounds to the rear and sides, a vital feature for podcasting and content creation in untreated spaces. The finish is highly durable, resisting scuffs, scratches, and other physical blemishes that can plague well-used workhorse mics. The NT1 Signature Series includes a 20' XLR cable, an SM6 shockmount and pop filter, and a dust cover.

  • Behind the protective mesh grille, the mic features Rode's 1" gold-sputtered HF6 capsule, designed to provide a detailed midrange response with smooth highs and warm bass
  • The cardioid polar pattern focuses audio capture on the source in front of the mic, picking up less unwanted ambient sound from the back and sides
  • The transducer itself is suspended inside the microphone, using Rycote's industry-leading Lyre system, minimizing external vibrations at the capsule level The capsule is then married to high-grade electronics that have been designed to provide an extremely low noise level. The NT1 Signature Series is an incredibly quiet microphone, measuring only 4 dBA of self-noise
  • The mic is powered by phantom power through the XLR connector

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can I use this with a XLR Female to 1/8" TRS Male Connection cable?

A: Hello Cristina, you could. However, there is no reason to. This kit comes with everything you need to record into your computer.

Q: 2. please how much the weight of this bundle ?

A: These items may ship separately. The packaged weight for the Auray mic stand is 5 lbs. It will most likely be sent separately because of the dimensions. For the individual packaged weight of the other items, the Rode NT1-A and shockmount weigh 3.9 lbs, the Focusrite Scarlett is 1.45 lbs, the Polsen headphones are 0.75 lbs, and the cable is 0.48 lbs. If all items (excluding the mic stand) can be shipped together in one box, the total weight of the package will be approximately 5 to 6 lbs.

Q: 3. Does this connect directly to my computer?

A: yes through USB 2.0

Q: 4. Does this mic have an on/off switch??

A: Like most large diaphragm condenser mics, the RODE NT1 Signature Series Large-Diaphragm Condenser Microphone does not have an on/off switch.

Q: 5. I tried to connect to a Pioneer DJM 900 NXS2, but the the microphone doesn't work at all. I tested via Focusrite on my computer, and it does work there well. How can I set up the mic with DJM 900 NXS2 to get sound?

A: The Microphone is a condenser and requires 48v of Phantom Power, which the Pioneer mixer does not supply. You can use an external phantom power supply, like the Rolls PB23. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/155422-REG/Rolls_PB23_PB23_Single_Channel.html However, if you intend to do live performances, this may not be the right mic. As it is a condenser, it is very sensitive and will pick up crowd and room noise, and possibly cause feedback in a live setting. You may want to consider switching to a dynamic mic for your live shows.

Q: 6. So the bundle comes with pro tools... how do I get access to pro tools after I've purchased the bundle?

A: An activation code will come with the audio interface. You will be directed to the Avid Protools website, where you will be able to download he software.

Q: 7. Does this mic have the actual SMR shockmount included or is it the SM6?

A: The shock mount included is the SMR.

Q: 8. XLR Cable Included? I've seen unboxing videos where an XLR Cable and Mic Sock (not wind filter) are included, but they're not listed here hence my question.

A: The Rode NT-1 Kit (B&H# RONT1KIT / MFR# NT-1 KIT) includes the Rode SM6 shock mount with detachable pop filter, and a mic cover. You had most likely seen unboxing videos that show the Rode NT1-A Large-Diaphragm Condenser Microphone (B&H# RONT1ACRS / MFR# NT1-A) which includes the Rode SM6 shock mount with detachable pop filter, a mic cover, and a 20' shielded XLR cable. There are some differences between the two models. The NT-1 is the original model and it delivers a flatter, warmer tone with a bit more low end than the NT1-A. The NT1-A is the newer of the two models. It offers a brighter tone and it is capable of handling louder sounds with lower self-noise. The NT1-A is also lighter in weight than the NT-1. Both models have a frequency response range of 20 Hz to 20 kHz.

Q: 9. Will Black Friday lower the price for the nt1 bundle

A: I just recently joined this community, so I apologize for the late response. That is different every year. I recommend signing up for B&H notifications on the item you're interested in.

Q: 10. Can i use usb speakers with this?

A: Hello Freddie, the AI-1 Audio Interface is meant to work as a replacement for your onboard sound card and is equipped with two balanced 1/4" outputs and not USB. If you would like to use your USB speakers, you would most likely have to use the AI-1 as your input first, disconnect, and then use your USB speakers as an output after the fact. I have heard of solutions for using two USB ports simultaneously, however, you would need to consult with your computer's manufacturer to see if this is possible.

[Phantom Power] It came with a rather long XLR cable (at least 6ft) and captures my voice rather perfectly when playing back on my HD-6XX's!

[4.645 lb] Really enjoy the sound of this mic, upgrading from a cheap dynamic mic, this one has improved the quality of my vocals (for music) by a lot. The shock mount and pop filter are well made and easily adjusted. Green color looks great in person as well!

[Solid-State] What can I say, it’s a Rode. There’s a reason why the NT-1 is one of the biggest selling microphones. The sound quality is superb. The cool colors are perfect for my daughter’s podcast. Really stands out. Great value for the money. Comes with everything you need. Great for vocals or whatever you put in in front of. Dry low self noise so you can compress it not expect noise. For the price, add one to your mic locker…you won’t be disappointed.

[Phantom Power] It's seems that B&H Photo were the only ones that had the RHODE NT1 (Red) in stock, most of the music retailers were on backorder. Anyway I tired out this mic sounds great, Nice addition to my home studio.

[Black] Do you need a studio-quality Large Diaphragm Condenser microphone, and don't have a huge budget?

If the answer is yes, the Rode NT1 Signature Series microphone should be on your short list of options. At $159, this mic punches way beyond its' price.

You get the SM-6 Shock Mount, with integrated pop filter, a 6 meter XLR cable, and the microphone itself, along with a storage bag to store the microphone when not in use. This is a fantastic deal, provided you have an audio interface interface to connect the microphone to. The accessories alone retail for over $100 bought separately, but you get them with the package at a price point better than many microphones at the same level.

The microphone sounds clear, with almost no self noise (specs say 4 dB for it), and through my RodeCaster Duo, crystal clear, with what I consider fairly minimal coloration for spoken word vocals. I have also used this microphone with a Mackie DLZ Creator, and I get the same clear vocals that I get from the RodeCaster.

The only disadvantage is that you're going to need some sort of XLR-capable audio interface that can supply 48v Phantom Power to the microphone, and if you don't have one, that's going to be an additional cost. I have a RodeCaster Duo, but there are less expensive options available. The fact that this is a condenser mic, rather than a dynamic, means that the mic does not need the sort of gain that you would need with a dynamic microphone.

If you already have the equipment to attach this to, at the price point, with the sound quality, accessories, and Rode's 10-year warranty, it's almost a must buy if you need a quality mic at an truly exceptional price.

[Cardioid] Many write reviews beginning with I am not an audiophile. Well, in a way I am an audiophile. I have created hundreds of videos for YouTube and many more hundreds of audio devotionals, along with many more hundreds of Bible studies my wife and I have done. I know what my voice sounds like, and I know which mics make it sound better and which do not. I have used many different mics. Some mics will never sound great no matter how much you try to EQ them. Others can sound great with some significant EQing. But the ideal mic sounds awesome with no EQing. And that is precisely the case with this mic. It has been called silky smooth, and that is a pretty fair assessment. There is absolutely no point for me to EQ this mic. The sound is nearly perfect on its own.

Some suggest that a condenser mic like this is only of use in a perfectly treated room. Not true. As long as you keep it within about 3-5 inches from your mouth, it will probably work very well in almost any room (but don't use it in your bathroom!). To sum up, this is the mic I have been looking for, for years. My search is over.
