Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. ground lift switch positions which lifts ground?

A: Yes, the DIB-443 has a built-in ground lift. Best regards, Hosa Support.

Q: 2. ProAV1 Can this unit output to a laptop's 1/8 microphone input for recording audio from a mixer?

A: No. The Pro AV1 converts consumer input (1/8) to balanced out (XLR) - the opposite of what you want. Radial makes the J-ISO and Pro-ISO that will do what you want. The J-ISO uses a Jensen transformer and is the one you want for studio recording. The J-PRO is good for broadcast use for recording vocal range audio and is cheaper than the J-PRO.

Q: 3. Does it send signal out of both outputs simultaneously (like a splitter)?

A: Yes, it does. When splitting, you will lose a bit of the treble, but it's not a huge difference. I use it in that regime--sending two signals out of it to different gear. Let me know if you want to know more. Good luck.

Q: 4. Can this box also be used as a re-amping device? Using the XLR output as an input?

A: This device can not be used as a re-amping device. The XLR connection is only meant for a mic level output send to a mixer or interface.

Q: 5. What is the input impedance on this box? I need 1M Ohm or higher.

A: The input impedance is specified as 50k ohms on the PDI-40 Direct Box.

Q: 6. Anything the other way round? I need something affordable with Low-Z input and Hi-Z output - the opposite of this device.

A: Perhaps you can use the Hosa Technology Impedance Transformer XLR Female Mic Lo-Z to Instrument 1/4" Male Hi-Z (B&H # HOMIT43) or Audix T50K Impedance-Matching Transformer (B&H # AUT50K) if you can work with an XLR Low-Z input.

Q: 7. does this unit provide phantom power to condenser microphones?

A: The ART Direct X is not designed for microphone input and will not provide phantom power.

Q: 8. I have Yamaha MWC12 mixer and would like to record directly with a videa camcorder using beachtec DXA-2T. Can I use the RCA rec out or Dual TRS out to connect to this box and connect to DXA-2T via xlr cable and record stereo sound? Thanks.

A: The Radial PRO AV1 is a single channel output unit that sums the incoming stereo signal to a balanced mono output.

Q: 9. Can I take phone calls using a rca to 3.5 mm out to phone?

A: By using this device with a smartphone, the caller could be sent to a mixer/ recorder directly. The caller could be recorded on a separate track of audio on a recorder. The caller would only hear you through the mic of the phone, as though you were on speaker phone. To make the call recording easier and have the caller here your mics audio, you may want to purchase this new Zoom podcasting recorder: B&H # ZOPTP4PCREC.

Q: 10. headphones?

A: This unit is not designed to be used with headphones.

[4-Channel] Great option to have especially if you're in the A/V world or just a DJ and need a good solid connection from your cell phone to play music as a back up option during a gig.

[Yes] I was going to get a straight cable to hook my iPad/iPhone to my guitar amp so I could play along with tracks. One of the reps from B&H suggested the LTIBLOX interface as an alternative which would boost the signal. He was right. Everythings coming through, clear as a bell. Nice and tight.

[5.25 lb] We are a rock band that plays a lot of large performing arts theaters, and have been using Radial passives.  But after three of those burned out (bad transformers) we thought wed buy inexpensive ones and just replace as needed.  These things ROCK.  Clear, uncolored sound, small footprint, solid metal construction, indistinguishable from the Radials at a fifth of the price. And so far, theyre holding up better than the high priced DI.

[5.25 lb] Have bought several of these and recommended them over the years and this is a consistent high achiever. Just setup a new teaching station and this was on my list - because it works! I love the volume know instead of having to mouse around the computer to change output levels.

[Rackmount DI] I've been looking for an interface to handle audio between a laptop and the balanced house audio system at our church. This does the trick beautifully and the ability to control the volume at the source is a plus.

[-20 / -40 dB] Headphone jack to XLR adapters are by far the thing that has caused the most issues for me in the audio world with how often they go bad/have a buzz in them. This is great to instantly get rid of any buzz in the line as well as have an additional point of volume control.

[Yes] One of our old Horizon DI boxes died of a transformer. This one cost half as much.

[Yes] I used this box to interface an on-stage Bluetooth audio receiver to the sound system at a week-long conference. It worked great and didn't have any issues!

[50 Kilohms] No need for an expensive DI. This one does the trick. We always have a handful of these at the ready when we're on the road with various bands.
