Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this include a lens hood?

A: Yes

Q: 2. Is the focus noisy?

A: The Hasselblad XCD 65mm f/2.8 Lens has a consistent vibration and low pitch noise when focusing.

Q: 3. Are they compatible with the Metabones RF-PL Cine 0.71x Speedbooster? Will they mount correctly?

A: As the rear element of the BLAZAR LENS Remus 45/65/100mm T2.0 Full-Frame 1.5x Anamorphic 3-Lens Kit with Case (ARRI PL, Amber Flare) protrudes approximately 15mm from the flange, these lenses will not be compatible with the Metabones ARRI PL Lens to Canon RF-Mount T Cine Speed Booster ULTRA 0.71x (EOS-R).

Q: 4. How long do they measure physically?

A: The dimensions of the BLAZAR LENS Remus 45/65/100mm kit are the following. The 45mm is 90mm in length, The 65mm is 101mm in length, and the 100mm is 110mm in length.

Q: 5. Will face detect work on the X2D with this lens?

A: Yes, face detect will work on the Hasselblad X2D 100C Medium Format Mirrorless Camera with the Hasselblad XCD 65mm f/2.8 Lens.

Q: 6. On the X2d will face detect be operational with this 60mm?

A: Yes, as long as the camera is firmware updated, face detect works with the Hasselblad XCD 65mm f/2.8 Lens on the Hasselblad X2D 100C Medium Format Mirrorless Camera.

Q: 7. Isn't the 65 mm XCD lens a 50 mm equivalent, not 35 mm? Your key features listing has an error, I believe.

A: The 35mm refers to the film/sensor format, not the equivalent focal length.

Q: 8. I have a zcam f6 with PL or EF mount. Do I understand correctly that the zcam f6 is compatible with a PL mount? Only with the zcam with the EF mount is not compatible. the zcam f6 has a changeable mount. It's not entirely clear to me because the zcam is listed in the incompatible list

A: Correct depending on which unit a end-user can be using due to the protruding rear elements, certain ZCAM EF cameras may not work with the Vazen 50mm lens. PL units should be fine but would double check with manufacture.

Q: 9. Is the image circle 43mm? (same as the 85?)

A: Vazen has not provided an exact measurement for the image circle on their 50mm T2.1 1.8x Full-Frame Anamorphic Lens, but it does cover RED Open Gate and Alexa LF Open Gate. Therefore, it is at least 46.31mm.

Q: 10. When this going to come for Sony E mount ?

A: Unfortunately the manufacturer has not yet announced plans for any additional mounting options. However you could use a pl to e mount adapter to appropriately mount this lens to an e mount body. We suggest the Metabones MB_PL-E-BT1 https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1194555-REG/metabones_mb_pl_e_bt1_pl_to_e_mount_adapter.html

[1.5x] Bought these to use with various cameras to get an anamorphic feel. I really like the look. They aren’t super sharp but fairly well built for the price, have a nice character and actually give a cinematic look. Maybe not 2 x character but for the price I love them.

[Yes] Blazar nailed this and no its not a perfect lens... but for under a grand ITS INSANE that a TINY and LIght-weight anamorphic getting you that old panavision c-d series aesthetic but you can actually own these. Are they 2x no obviously not - My Gemini is 30x18mm (rounded) and on 4 perf S35 ie larger S35 chips like my Red Gemini this Lens is a DREAM... Its definitely soft wide open as most vintage anamorphics are and has some CA and flaws but they are very organic... and although the squeeze isnt 2x the Bokeh are CLEARLY oval and the blue streaks (got the blue streak PL ) are great... I always think you need to see how SMALL they are to believe it I dont need a support on My Gemini or when using the FF on my Eos r5. I cant wait for rest have 100 and Hoping the 85 comes soon and then the 33mm FF But this one is a must if you can only buy one.

[77 mm x 0.75] I am not really able to compare it to the others in the set yet… but it’s a safe bet this is the weakest of the 4 or 3if FF only. Partially just from to the focal length not conveying the look as strong as the wider lenses but also it really works best stopped down a tad…as it’s rather soft wide open. However I am def still very impressed by the overall quality and quality of these… they don’t feel cheap just small … shockingly small. The 100mm in PL is smaller than my RF 50mm f1.2! Impressed by this but it comes at the cost of some obvious chromatic aberrations… still for the money this is great and 1.5x may seem to enough squeeze the bokeh and flares look very anamorphic to my eyes shockingly so.
If you order just one maybe the 45mm 65mm or if your on smaller than 17mm high S35 sensors… get the 35mm . This lens great but don’t make it your only option.

[77 mm x 0.75] I’ve had many of the affordable anamorphics that are out. They were all disappointing with their pinstripe flares. Pincushion distortion, and otherwise forgettable image.

These are not that! These have the character that one looks for in more expensive lenses like the Atlas Mercury’s. And in my experience with both, the Mercury’s and now owning the Remus’ I cannot imagine spending 10x the amount for the Atlas Mercury lenses when these exist.

These were one of the best and most surprising purchases I’ve ever made.

It’s clear that China is not messing around and are coming for blood, because these are killer!

[T2] When I saw the many video reviews and demos of the Remus Lenses and the price for a set, I knew that they were going to be my first venture into anamorphic lenses.

Although it took almost 3 months to get the set, it was well worth the wait. I recommend this model, for it's budget and it's quality build. It's really amazing.

[1x 1/4"-20] I just received this lens set TODAY so please take this all with a grain of salt. This is also being done without shimming so there may be a little bit of blurriness that normally wouldn't be there. I added 2.39 bars to help see what an end image may look like.

I really wanted to see the differences between the Great Joy Set and the Remus. I've uploaded some photos to help people choose.

Overall I think I may go with the Remus as they seem to actually sharpen up closely to the Great Joy's when opened to 2.8T. they also seem to actually have a little more color constancy between each other (However, I did my test on a cloudy day so the sun may have played a factor).

To play to the favor of the Great Joy set they are a little cleaner and I would say might be a better set of lenses for commercial style work where as the Remus set seem to lean into the Narrative a bit more.

Hope this is a little helpful! Both sets of lenses are totally worth the money.

[77 mm x 0.75] I've only done tests on location with these before the shoot I've been planning next week... These lenses have a dreamy, droopy, anamorphic look wide open, but I wouldn't suggest using them wide open unless you need a dreamy look. Super soft wide open. At T2.8 it gets better but T4 is where it actually gets sharp. For more context, I'm shooting on a C70, and we know that camera is on the softer side...

Aperture/Focus rings are smooth and a pleasure to use.

Focus breathing is not great, but depending on the shot your going after, it could be ok. They do some funky things when panning or handheld. I plan to use these lenses mostly locked off, on a slider, dolly, etc for nice smooth controlled shots with an artistic look.

Definitely recommend.

[1x 1/4"-20] I bought a set of Viltrox anamorphic lenses, which are amazing, but I wanted something smaller and lighter for my FX6/Ronin 4D. These Blazar lenses are a lot of fun. I only have the 65 so far, which I find wide enough for most situations without having the issues in the corners that the 45 had. Waiting to try out their new ones, I just need something slightly wider and another slightly tighter. Waiting to hear what they say about the new additions.
