Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Are they compatible with the Metabones RF-PL Cine 0.71x Speedbooster? Will they mount correctly?

A: As the rear element of the BLAZAR LENS Remus 45/65/100mm T2.0 Full-Frame 1.5x Anamorphic 3-Lens Kit with Case (ARRI PL, Amber Flare) protrudes approximately 15mm from the flange, these lenses will not be compatible with the Metabones ARRI PL Lens to Canon RF-Mount T Cine Speed Booster ULTRA 0.71x (EOS-R).

Q: 2. Isn't the 65 mm XCD lens a 50 mm equivalent, not 35 mm? Your key features listing has an error, I believe.

A: The 35mm refers to the film/sensor format, not the equivalent focal length.

Q: 3. Does the anamorphic squeeze affect the lens focal length on full frame?

A: No, the anamorphic squeeze does not affect the lens' focal length on a full frame sensor.

Q: 4. Is the focus noisy?

A: The Hasselblad XCD 65mm f/2.8 Lens has a consistent vibration and low pitch noise when focusing.

Q: 5. When this going to come for Sony E mount ?

A: Unfortunately the manufacturer has not yet announced plans for any additional mounting options. However you could use a pl to e mount adapter to appropriately mount this lens to an e mount body. We suggest the Metabones MB_PL-E-BT1 https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1194555-REG/metabones_mb_pl_e_bt1_pl_to_e_mount_adapter.html

Q: 6. I have a zcam f6 with PL or EF mount. Do I understand correctly that the zcam f6 is compatible with a PL mount? Only with the zcam with the EF mount is not compatible. the zcam f6 has a changeable mount. It's not entirely clear to me because the zcam is listed in the incompatible list

A: Correct depending on which unit a end-user can be using due to the protruding rear elements, certain ZCAM EF cameras may not work with the Vazen 50mm lens. PL units should be fine but would double check with manufacture.

Q: 7. Is there a version with lens data /I?

A: BLAZAR is actively looking into adding support for Cooke /i protocol.

Q: 8. Does it accept Leica M lenses ?

A: This is a Hasselblad X Lens.

Q: 9. Does this fit new Blackmagic Full Frame Cinema Camera?

A: Yes, the Viltrox EPIC 35mm T2.0 1.33x Anamorphic Lens (Leica L) is compatible with the Blackmagic Design Cinema Camera 6K (Leica L).

Q: 10. Where is this lens made?

A: Hasselblad XCD 65mm f/2.8 Lens BH #HA65XCD • MFR #CP.HB.00000252.01 is made in Japan

[2.98 lb] .I would characterize myself as an amateur filmmaker, or at least a serious hobbyist, who has had no experience with cinematic lenses. This lens was an absolute blast to experiment with. It's a solidly built metal body, with smooth-turning geared focus and aperture rings. It is manual focus, but with the use of focus peaking, very sharp images can be achieved. Not coming from a cinema background, T-stops are a bit mysterious to me, but the wide T2.9 aperture (which I've read is roughly equivalent to f2.1) allows lower ISOs in low light conditions. A nice bonus is the inclusion of a lens pouch. For an example from my first shoot with this lens, visit https://youtu.be/462z64lIzUc. I look forward to playing much more with this fun lens.

[1.5x] Surprisingly amazing little anamorphic lens. Sharp & full of character when paired with the Red Komodo.

[T2] Excellent budget anamorphic lens. It works exceptionally well with my Sony A7sIII full frame camera. The Viltrox DC-X3 on camera monitor just complements the whole setup. It has exec 1.6 de-squeeze factor to help you compose every shot.

[Blue] I am not really able to compare it to the others in the set yet… but it’s a safe bet this is the weakest of the 4 or 3if FF only. Partially just from to the focal length not conveying the look as strong as the wider lenses but also it really works best stopped down a tad…as it’s rather soft wide open. However I am def still very impressed by the overall quality and quality of these… they don’t feel cheap just small … shockingly small. The 100mm in PL is smaller than my RF 50mm f1.2! Impressed by this but it comes at the cost of some obvious chromatic aberrations… still for the money this is great and 1.5x may seem to enough squeeze the bokeh and flares look very anamorphic to my eyes shockingly so.
If you order just one maybe the 45mm 65mm or if your on smaller than 17mm high S35 sensors… get the 35mm . This lens great but don’t make it your only option.

[1.5x] This lens looks great, has interesting flares and has character up the wazoo. I love the distortion of this lens. It may be my PL mount, but the lens is a bit too soft at the moment at distances past 10 meters, and I'll have it checked out soon at a rental house with focus charts. Besides that, so amazing!

[T2] I bought a set of Viltrox anamorphic lenses, which are amazing, but I wanted something smaller and lighter for my FX6/Ronin 4D. These Blazar lenses are a lot of fun. I only have the 65 so far, which I find wide enough for most situations without having the issues in the corners that the 45 had. Waiting to try out their new ones, I just need something slightly wider and another slightly tighter. Waiting to hear what they say about the new additions.

[65mm] When I saw the many video reviews and demos of the Remus Lenses and the price for a set, I knew that they were going to be my first venture into anamorphic lenses.

Although it took almost 3 months to get the set, it was well worth the wait. I recommend this model, for it's budget and it's quality build. It's really amazing.

[ARRI PL] I've only done tests on location with these before the shoot I've been planning next week... These lenses have a dreamy, droopy, anamorphic look wide open, but I wouldn't suggest using them wide open unless you need a dreamy look. Super soft wide open. At T2.8 it gets better but T4 is where it actually gets sharp. For more context, I'm shooting on a C70, and we know that camera is on the softer side...

Aperture/Focus rings are smooth and a pleasure to use.

Focus breathing is not great, but depending on the shot your going after, it could be ok. They do some funky things when panning or handheld. I plan to use these lenses mostly locked off, on a slider, dolly, etc for nice smooth controlled shots with an artistic look.

Definitely recommend.
